Prolongement Des Concepts De Mongo Beti Autour De L’Éco-Solidarité: Barthélémy Toguo, Hélène Tissières
Présence Francophone: Revue internationale de langue et de littérature
The writer and activist Mongo Beti upon his return in 1991 to his homeland in Cameroon, worked with the farmers, crushed by the political system. As he recalls in his novel Ville cruelle, colonial prerogatives have impacted urban planning and the environment. In regards to the numerous ecological disasters, the philosopher Fabien Eboussi Boulaga recalls the communities’ ancient approaches. Currently are such concerns being further tackled in Cameroon ? This brings us to reflect on Barthélémy Toguo’s artistic contributions and cultural center in Bandjoun, a part of which is devoted to the peasants in the surrounding region to preserve the …

The Scientific Divulgation In Neurosurgery., Rodrigo Ramos-Zuñiga, Sergio Manuel Ibarra-Navarro
Archives of Neurosurgery
The communication of scientific findings in a young discipline in the evolution of knowledge about the human nervous system, has had a consistent and significant advance. This interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary vision has been a fundamental educational axis in the development of neurosurgery in terms of innovation, scientific progress, technological development and quality of patient care. It is therefore essential that scientific writing and communication channels continue to preserve these quality standards, to validate without bias and with certainty, the value and strength of the advances of neurosurgery as a science.
Lights, Camera, Confidence: The Effects Of Theatre On Self-Esteem, Morgan Savatgy
Lights, Camera, Confidence: The Effects Of Theatre On Self-Esteem, Morgan Savatgy
[Archive] Belmont University Research Symposium (BURS)
Theatre serves as a creative outlet and an escape for designers, actors, and directors. It is also often a cathartic experience for audience members to be fully immersed in, and escape into, a theatrical production. Knowing that theatre can have such a great impact on an individual's state of mind, how exactly does theatre affect self-esteem? According to my research, the presence of theatre and the dramatic arts positively affects the lives of participants in many groups. One of these is elementary school students, who are taught theatre in order to create a space within which to learn foundational skills, …

Representation Matters: An Examination In To How The Patient Experience Is Impacted By The Inclusion Of Sexual Orientation And Gender Identity Questions On A Health History Intake Form, Meghan N. Digneit
Doctor of Nursing Practice Scholarly Projects
The disclosure of one’s sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) status is an extremely personal decision subject to a variety of internal and external factors. The disclosure of this status in the healthcare setting is an important topic that continues to be subject to discussion, research, education, and mutual understanding between the patient and provider. The purpose of this DNP project is to explore how answering SOGI questions on a general intake form impacts patient attitudes regarding the impending visit. This was a mixed-methods research study that included demographic questions, nominal data in the form of yes/no questions, and two …

The Ethylenebis(Dithiocarbamate) Backbone Of Mancozeb Alters Glutathione Status And Divalent Essential Metal Homeostasis In Rat, Benjamin Kistinger
The Ethylenebis(Dithiocarbamate) Backbone Of Mancozeb Alters Glutathione Status And Divalent Essential Metal Homeostasis In Rat, Benjamin Kistinger
Theses and Dissertations
Mancozeb is a fungicide used globally on a variety of crops. Studies on mancozeb attribute its toxicity to oxidative stress. There is debate if oxidative stress is caused by mancozeb’s metal components, manganese and zinc, its ethylenebis(dithiocarbamate) backbone, or both together. The ability of mancozeb to alter metal homeostasis and chelate copper has also been implicated in its toxicity. Manganese, zinc, copper, and iron are essential in the body such that deficiency results in disease. However, these metals in excess have toxic consequences. We sought to study the mancozeb’s ability to alter essential metal homeostasis, induce oxidative stress, and affect …

Publications and Research

The Use Of Tiktok For Relationship Maintenance: An Exploratory Study, Shannon Nemes
Master's Theses and Doctoral Dissertations
The recent boom in popularity of the social media app TikTok has provided more opportunities for users in a committed relationship to express their love to their partner through features such as video sharing, tagging, or creating content together. The purpose of this study is to learn how romantic partners use TikTok to support relationship maintenance; in addition, this study draws on research related to the five love languages to gauge how romantic partners express their love for each other using TikTok. Interviews with eight individuals involved in long-term romantic relationships revealed how TikTok assists with relationship maintenance. Six themes …

British Literature I, Justin Shaw
Syllabus Share
What does it mean to belong? What does it mean to have an identity? This course serves as an entry point to the study of early British literature and its historical contexts. We examine texts written from the 7th to the 17th Centuries that comprise a portion of what we call British literature. This survey engages poetry, prose, and drama that reimagine the complexities of intersectional identity, render the nation as part of a global stage, and challenge conventions of sexuality and gender. It traces early texts written by and about people on the margins of “Britishness” and "Englishness" such …

Strassler Center Archival Collection Finding Aids
This collection is comprised of postcards that are connected to the Nazi Party in Germany. The Nazi Party, officially the National Socialist German Workers' Party (German: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei or NSDAP), was a political party in Germany active between 1920 and 1945 that created and supported the ideology of Nazism. Its precursor, the German Workers' Party (Deutsche Arbeiterpartei; DAP), existed from 1919 to 1920. The Nazi Party emerged from the extremist German nationalist, racist and populist Freikorps paramilitary culture, which fought against the communist uprisings in post–World War I Germany. The party was …

Music And Sound In Weihsien Internment Camp In Japanese-Occupied China, Zhihui Sophia Geng
Asian Studies Faculty Publications
From the chapter's Introduction:
On 7 July 1937, Japanese forces based in Manchuria charged southward towards Beijing, invading north China and hence starting the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–45). On 7 December 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, transforming the Second Sino-Japanese War into the Pacific War. As a result of Pearl Harbor, the status of Allied citizens living in China at the time changed from neutral to ‘enemy aliens’. These Allied citizens included individuals and their families who worked in China as government officials, executives, engineers and Christian missionaries. They were forced into internment camps under the watchful eyes of the …
