Work On Byu’S Messiah Documentary Continues

Insights: The Newsletter of the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship

The filming for the Messiah documentary has been completed, and the important work of editing has begun. Team members had traveled to Israel, Egypt, and Denmark to film the visual backdrop for the nine-part film as well as to capture the hosts’ comments that will introduce a wide array of topics in the documentary. Those hosts included Gaye Strathearn (assistant professor of ancient scripture), John Tanner (professor of English), Andrew Skinner (professor of ancient scripture), and Kent Brown (professor emeritus of ancient scripture).

Lola's Story: Love And Resiliency, Susan R. Whiteland

International Journal of Lifelong Learning in Art Education

Lola, a hand puppet, tells her story of being constructed in a university’s special topics class for the purpose of encouraging older adults who may be experiencing loneliness and isolation. Lola is introduced to an elderly woman who bonds with the puppet. Engagement with the puppet encourages positive emotions that contribute toward resilience and subjective well-being. Lola’s story supports the idea that feelings of happiness and positivity attributed to puppetry may be instrumental in memory retention and overall socio-emotional health.

Concert performance by the North Georgia Honor Orchestra and KSU Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Nathaniel F. Parker, Director of Orchestral Studies in the Bailey School of Music. The North Georgia Honor Orchestra is a unique event designed to bring together the most talented pre-college string instrumentalists in and around North Georgia to focus on developing advanced technical and musical skills under the guidance of the exceptional KSU Bailey School of Music faculty. The orchestras will perform separately and then combine for a grand finale. This performance is free to the public, no ticket required.

1890, Cecil John Rhodes, then Prime Minister of Cape Colonies, advanced the Union Jack past the Limpopo River, making way for further industrial development and encouraging colonialism and immigration. Three years later, these encounters resulted in conflicts with the Ndebele people residing in modern-day Zimbabwe. Again in 1896, led by the Shona, Africans took up arms against these European invaders. It took 94 years to finally overthrow the British; however, the work that began in 1896 continues today.

[From Introduction] Problems pertaining to environmental and ecological well-being are increasingly having effects on a global scale; climate change is the most obvious example of this, but not the only one (the pollution of the oceans and transnational light pollution are others). Our paper argues that individual and community well-being in general, which is always directly or indirectly related to specifically environmental or ecological well-being at the global scale, can be augmented through the introduction of Creative Arts activities and products into local communities.

India has emerged as one of the leading destinations for offshore outsourcing in the software industry and has attracted the attention of software industries of several countries including Germany. In order to sustain this outsourcing relationship, the legal frameworks of these countries play a very important role. Fake Facts: An Incredulous Look At Piracy Statistics In India, Prashant Iyengar

The author of the paper looks at how the expression ‘piracy’ has acquired traits due to the manner in which news has been reported, and also the manner in which ‘piracy statistics’ have defined the boundaries of their context by perpetuating an image of value-neutrality while revealing little other than the quantity of ‘pirates’. By examining newspaper reports, he notes the manner in which the losses in the music and video industries are portrayed, and the estimations of the same which are sometimes downright fictitious, but nonetheless accepted by the press.
