The Birds
Taylor Theatre Playbills
The playbill for Taylor University's performance of The Birds by Conor McPherson adapted from the short story of Daphne Du Maurier.
Performed September 15-18, 2022 at the Mitchell Theatre.
The Birds is set in an isolated house where two strangers, Nat and Diane, seek refuge from relentless attacks by flocks of birds. As they struggle to survive with limited resources and no electricity, their fragile sanctuary is further disrupted by the arrival of a young woman named Julia. The tension inside the house mirrors the chaos outside, as paranoia and fear take hold. McPherson's adaptation delves into the psychological and …

On Developmental Transformations And Neural Integration: A Literature Review, Savannah White
On Developmental Transformations And Neural Integration: A Literature Review, Savannah White
Expressive Therapies Capstone Theses
This thesis presents developmental transformations (DvT) and explores this technique’s connections with neural integration. Developmental transformations is an improvised drama therapy technique (Johnson, 2013). Neural integration is what occurs when the different parts of the brain are working together (Siegel, 2020). Domains of integration are the different parts of the mind that are attempting to work together (Siegel, 2010a). This thesis aims to demonstrate how elements and techniques of DvT may facilitate neural integration. Background in both areas is provided, then specific concepts, skills, and methods of developmental changes are connected to domains of integration. Practical applications are reviewed, and …

International Child Law And The Settlement Of Ukraine-Russia And Other Conflicts, Diane Marie Amann
International Child Law And The Settlement Of Ukraine-Russia And Other Conflicts, Diane Marie Amann
International Law Studies
The Ukraine-Russia conflict has wreaked disproportionate harms upon children. Hundreds reportedly were killed or wounded within the opening months of the conflict, thousands lost loved ones, and millions left their homes, their schools, and their communities. Yet public discussions of how to settle the conflict contain very little at all about children. This article seeks to change that dynamic. It builds on a relatively recent trend, one that situates human rights within the structure of peace negotiations, to push for particularized treatment of children’s experiences, needs, rights, and capacities in eventual negotiations. The article draws upon twenty-first century projects that …
The Aesthetic Use Of Symbols In Oscar Wilde’S The Picture Of Dorian Gray, Chro Muhammad Saeed, Azad Hamad
The Aesthetic Use Of Symbols In Oscar Wilde’S The Picture Of Dorian Gray, Chro Muhammad Saeed, Azad Hamad
Alustath Journal for Human and Social Sciences
This research paper is a study of the aesthetic use of symbols in Oscar Wilde’s only novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray (1891) which was published in Lippincott’s Monthly Magazine in 1890. The aim of this paper is not to cover all the symbols in the book, but to offer an explanation of the most significant symbols in the work which add depth and beauty to the text, hoping that this study will help the readers to achieve some aesthetic insight into the text of the novel. The novel’s focus on sensual love and physical pleasure that undercuts Victorian aesthetics …
The Possibility Of Truth And Justice In Ariel Dorfman’S Death And The Maiden, Hind Naji Hussein
The Possibility Of Truth And Justice In Ariel Dorfman’S Death And The Maiden, Hind Naji Hussein
Alustath Journal for Human and Social Sciences
The paper examines the possibility of attaining justice and truth for victims of human rights abuses as represented in Ariel Dorfman’s Death and the Maiden (1991). The paper investigates the validity of the concept of transitional justice, as a national reconciliation policy, in addressing individual sufferings and stories. While analyzing the play, the paper handles certain questions: is transitional justice the appropriate tool to expose the truth and achieve the justice desired by the victims? Is the perpetrators accountability possible? Is retribution more effective if taken by the hands of the victims themselves? Can reconciliation even be possible for the …

The Conundrum Of ‘Relevant Market’: Market Definition In India’S Complex Tv Distribution Business, Vibodh Parthasarathi
The Conundrum Of ‘Relevant Market’: Market Definition In India’S Complex Tv Distribution Business, Vibodh Parthasarathi
Indian Journal of Law and Technology
The universal problematic of market definition poses peculiar challenges in multi-lingual and fragmented media markets, like in India. This article engages with this problematic by taking up the case of the TV distribution market in India. Here, the rapidly expanding TV distribution business consists of two segments. The larger, wired Cable distribution segment, driven by over 1,000 large cable companies and over 50,000 last mile operators, accounts for 70 percent market share, or around 100 million TV homes. The rest 30 percent is occupied by the wireless segment, comprising 6 Direct to Home TV distributors. Amidst the heightened expansion of …
Company
Theatre and Performance Studies Programs
TPS pays tribute to the titan of American Musical Theatre with a concert staging of this musical that features many of Sondheim’s beloved songs. How are your life decisions affected by the company you keep? Company takes us on Bobby's journey as the couples around him ponder his singlehood and encourage him to find a mate. We question whether his friends are living their own advice. Company is a delightful look at how society molds our ideals and how those ideals are translated into our relationships.
