Journal of Wellness

Introduction: Similar to prior reviews, the Journal of Wellness editors searched the literature from the second half of 2022 for an interesting and impactful selection of publications on wellness in healthcare professionals.

Methods: Editors conducted a standard keyword search in Pubmed, focusing chiefly on large journals, interventional trials, and other prospective research. We included papers published between July 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022.

Literature in Review: Finding several hundred publications, we excluded editorials, reviews, and some smaller, less generalizable papers. A final 25 significant studies focusing on wellness in medical professionals were sorted into the following categories: logistics, creativity …

In her third interpretation of Elizabeth Seton’s spirituality within the framework of ecological theology, Sun Hae Kim examines volumes 3a and 3b of Elizabeth’s writings. These volumes cover Elizabeth’s entire life. The presence of God was “the mystery that not only sustained her throughout her life but also united her vision of the entire universe of natural creation and humanity into one.” Kim also puts Elizabeth’s views of creation, humanity, suffering, and death within the context of three ecological theologians: Hildegard of Bingen, Sallie McFague, and Elizabeth A. Students and faculty belonging to the Kennesaw State Department of Information Systems and Security are creating Octoprint Server as open-source software for web-based 3D print farm and ecosystem management. Building upon the robust existing Octoprint open-source project, which provides a common interface to individual 3D printers, the project aims to help schools, libraries, and universities who wish to scale up and manage learning activities using 3D printing. The “Dread Sex Cases:” Community, Citizenship, And The Regulation Of Adult Theaters In The 1970s, Erin Barry

Through an innovative examination of scale (local, state, and national regulatory structures), space (the location of theaters, the spatial arrangements inside them) and place (the cities and suburbs in which these battles took place), my dissertation on the regulation of adult theaters in the 1970s raises compelling questions about sexuality, space and the various levels at which citizenship is enacted and policed. I utilize three Supreme Court cases, Paris Adult Theater v. Slaton, which dealt with consent and the application of community standards, Erznoznik v. Jacksonville, which addressed bans on nudity and pornography at drive-in theaters, and Young v. American …

I am researching the concept of metamorphosis as a reflection of myself and my journey for this Graduating Presentation project. I will be exploring the different components that influence this process of change and growth. Through my process I will inquire “What is necessary for this drastic evolution to occur, and what ideas must be present for it to follow through?” For this project, I will choreograph a staged work comprised of about 7-10 dancers (and understudies). I plan to take the audience through the ups, downs, and influences involved in the process of metamorphosis.

DePaul University professor of French Clara Orban explains what students learn in the process of translating Frédéric Ozanam’s letters as part of their senior project in her translation course. A new translation of the letters is being prepared for publication by staff of the Vincentian Studies Institute; student translations assist in this effort. Many of the letters the students prepare were written by Ozanam between the ages of eighteen and twenty-five and provide them with a window into his student life. As such, they also allow the students to better relate to a key figure within the history of the …

Johnson & Wales University’s drama club, the JWU Players, produces a musical annually. Each production is led entirely by undergraduate students from a variety of the university’s colleges. During the 2021-2022 academic year, the Players produced Bright Star, a bluegrass story about love, loss, and family. Bright Star generated new funds for the club and met several of the objectives set forth by the production team. Once a production team is elected in December, they immediately begin the planning for show weekend. The weekend of performances is slated for mid-April, giving the production team four months to create a show. …

A fascinating study that shows how the intersection of technology and politics has shaped South African history since the 1960s.

This book details the development of an interconnected technological system of a coal mine and of the Matimba and Medupi power stations in the Waterberg, a rural region of South Africa near the country’s border with Botswana. South Africa’s state steel manufacturing corporation, Iscor, which has since been privatized, developed a coal mine in the region in the 1970s. This set the stage for the national electricity provider, Eskom, to build coal-fueled power stations in the Waterberg.

Scholars have repeatedly contrasted the 1805 and 1850 versions of William Wordsworth’s The Prelude since the discovery and publication of the former by Ernest De Sélincourt in 1926. Points of contention have included the 1850 poem’s grammatical revisions and shifts toward greater political and religious orthodoxy. While these discussions have waned in recent decades, digital humanities tools allow us to revisit oft-debated texts through new lenses. Beginning in the 1980s, under the influence of critical theories, theatre historians in North America began to critically reflect upon the historical legacy of Theaterwissenschaft (Theatre Studies). Scholars adoptedthe concept of “theatre historiography” to theorize research on theatre history. BertoltBrecht’s, RolandBarthes’ and Hans-ThiesLehmann’s uses of “theexterior” reflect their emphaseson theatrical signifiers, whichoutlinesthe relationship between mimetic theatre and self-referential theatre. Brecht advocates “exterior” performance and thinksthat actors do not have to feel the same as characters, affirming the difference between the signifier (the imitator) and the signified (the imitated). However, he pursues“scientific truth” and a real similarity between the signifier and the signified through exterior performance. In Barthes’ study of theatre, the distance between the signifier and the signified is further widened. Barthes uses an exaggerated “exteriorization” to hollow out depth and uses external languages to stimulate the audience’s comprehensive …

Behind the traditional scenography dominated mostly by vision and secondly by hearing is the perceptual hierarchy of Western civilization, hammered in especially by rationalism in modern times. In 2021, the Hollywood guild International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) negotiated a new contract with Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). IATSE had enjoyed a relatively peaceful labor existence in its 128 years. However, after negotiations with AMPTP stalled in 2021, IATSE held a vote to strike. The IATSE voters authorized a strike if negotiations did not produce an agreement.

If IATSE had initiated a strike, productions would have effectively shut down. If Hollywood productions shut down, the industry would suffer millions in lost profits, employees would risk an unpaid strike, and viewers would likely see …
