This Honors capstone is a costume design for the main characters of Thomas Middleton’s play The Witch. Although it was published in 1778, the play is thought to be written between 1606 and 1620. This places its origin in the Jacobean Era, directly after the Elizabethan Era which ended in 1603.

n 1990, the Visual Artists’ Rights Act (VARA) became a welcome addition to the federal Copyright Act of 1976. VARA was the first time the “moral rights” of an artist were federally protected in the United States. Moral rights are commonly understood to provide attribution to artists and protect the integrity of visual art pieces. Under VARA, this means authors have a right to claim authorship on pieces they create, prevent the use of their name on a work they did not create, and prohibit the destruction of works of “recognized statute” (both intentional and through gross negligence). Under Title IX and the 2011 Dear Colleague Letter, universities were reminded of their obligation to educate, prevent, and respond to sexual assaults and other forms of gender-based violence. The current study used a survey packet including a Rape Myth Acceptance scale, questions about related education, and a scale rating participants’ level of confidence on seven vignettes. The sample indicated participants were more likely to recognize whether consent was given than they were to recognize whether the vignette met legal standards for sexual assault. The results can provide universities with information to better individualize their sexual assault prevention efforts.

This paper explores the concept of hyperdistraction, a cognitive state where a person constantly changes focus from one digital task to another and has a consistently low tolerance to boredom. The paper presents several studies that show that hyperdistraction is prevalent among younger generations, resulting in increased anxiety, poor mental health, and academic decline. Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) is an emotional and fear-based, recurrent response to a perceived or real threat. It causes difficulty in dealing with every-day experiences. It afflicts 13.9% of the urban residents in India and requires a proactive approach to coping. GAD is not caused by stress but rather is sensitive to stress. Varying stimuli lead to automatic, unexpected and intense reactions called triggers. Awareness about triggers helps one understand their emotional thresholds and supports self-management. This paper introduces the work with communities coming from the armed conflict in Colombia as ex-combatants trying to build a lasting state of peace and the use of design research methodologies of participation and deliberation using value-mapping and future systemic mapping to produce collective plans, decide on strategic actions and create infrastructure to facilitate their intentions. Through the paper, the methodology is reviewed, and the participatory research process is described; based on the first stage of the research, some initial reflections and findings are presented regarding alternative use of the methodology and possible positive and negative effects.

Focusing on participatory democracy, we explore their intersection with the participatory design of digital technology that might strengthen rather than undermine local participatory democracy initiatives. Cleveland County Study Reports Gardner-Webb’S Total Economic Impact: $155.3 Million, Office Of University Communications

A new study by Tourism Economics, which was commissioned by Visit Cleveland County, N.C., has documented and determined the economic impacts of four organizations, including Gardner-Webb University. The comprehensive report analyzed data from 2022 and concluded that GWU generated a total economic impact of $155.3 million in the local economy, was responsible for 1,315 full- and part-time jobs, and produced $8.0 million in tax revenues at the state and local levels.
