Software Engineering In The Age Of Coding Agents: Failure Modes And Rejection Patterns, Mahd Mohd Taysir Hindi Mar 2026

Software Engineering In The Age Of Coding Agents: Failure Modes And Rejection Patterns, Mahd Mohd Taysir Hindi

Thesis/ Dissertation Defenses

This thesis investigates the real-world behavior of LLM-driven coding agents that generate code changes and submit pull requests (PRs) to public software repositories. As these tools evolve from autocomplete-style assistants into more autonomous agents, their contributions increasingly interact with socio-technical review processes (human reviewers, bots, CI/CD gates, and project norms). This thesis focuses on understanding why agent-generated PRs are accepted or rejected and what these outcomes reveal about current agent limitations in practical development workflows. The main objective of this thesis is to systematically characterize rejection patterns and failure modes of agent-generated pull requests in real repositories. Specifically, the thesis …

Recombinant Gelonin: Purification And Functional Validation For Electroporation-Assisted Delivery, Eleni Zivla, Giedrė Šilkūnienė, Andrei G. Pakhomov, Mantas Šilkūnas, Olga N. Pakhomova

Knowledge and Creativity Expo

Type I ribosome-inactivating proteins, such as gelonin, are enzymatically potent toxins but are effectively non-toxic under physiological conditions because they are unable to cross the plasma membrane[1]. Pulsed electric fields (PEF) overcome this delivery barrier by transiently permeabilizing the plasma membrane, allowing direct cytosolic entry. This enhances gelonin cytotoxicity by several thousand-fold, highlighting gelonin’s potential as an electrochemotherapy candidate[2]. Here, we present a recombinant gelonin (rGel) expression platform in E. coli with HPLC-based purification that enables reproducible protein production and structure-guided engineering.

The mature gelonin sequence (residues 47–297) was cloned into pET-32a(+) with an N-terminally fused Trx-6×His tag and TEV …

Proactive Disruption Of Adversarial Learning Via Systematic Feedback Loop Corruption, Google Case Managers Picozzi, Dishant Mathur Mar 2026

Proactive Disruption Of Adversarial Learning Via Systematic Feedback Loop Corruption, Google Case Managers Picozzi, Dishant Mathur

Defensive Publications Series

Modern fraud prevention is often limited by a reactive approach that inadvertently provides training data to adversaries, allowing them to refine tactics whenever a detection signal or account block occurs. To address this feedback loop, a framework is disclosed for the proactive disruption of fraudulent operations by systematically corrupting internal adversarial learning processes. The method involves mapping entry vectors, identifying behavioral heuristics used by operators, and injecting inconsistent success signals, such as decoy enthusiasm and variable response compliance, into the interaction flow. Additionally, operational workflows are desynchronized to increase coordination friction and propagate stress across the scam network. By rendering …

Api-Based Firmographic Enrichment For Real-Time Visitor Personalization On Third-Party Web Surfaces, Aaron Burton

Defensive Publications Series

A method for enriching anonymous visitors on third-party web surfaces by querying a third-party firmographic API directly, replacing headless browser retrieval and machine-learning classification. A network proxy resolves the visitor’s IP address to an origin domain, an enrichment process queries a firmographic data provider’s API with that domain, normalizes the structured response into a standard profile format, and delivers the profile to the visitor’s browser session for real-time personalization.

Empowering Educators With Generative Ai In Higher Education: Design Patterns For Visible Learning, Jeanne Charles Mar 2026

Empowering Educators With Generative Ai In Higher Education: Design Patterns For Visible Learning, Jeanne Charles

Essays in Education

A student submits a paper that reads smooth and confident. With generative AI, that polish no longer proves learning. Higher education now needs course designs that keep student thinking visible and assessable.

This literature review synthesizes 39 empirical studies (2024 through early 2026) on generative AI in higher education. It treats 22 learner-facing classroom studies as design cases and codes task type, permitted AI use, instructor guardrails, and measured outcomes. It uses the remaining studies to situate adoption, policy, and academic integrity risks.

Across the evidence, outcomes follow the design more than the tool. AI supports learning when it expands …

Forging Volksgemeinschaft: Industrial And Technological Imagery In Nazi Propaganda Posters, Aiden Martin Mar 2026

Forging Volksgemeinschaft: Industrial And Technological Imagery In Nazi Propaganda Posters, Aiden Martin

Student Research Symposium (SRS)

This paper answers a heretofore unasked question: What role do Nazi propaganda posters play in the broader ideological project of Volksgemeinschaft, particularly regarding the roles of industrial advancement as threatened by the anti-nation? Propaganda posters are used as a lens into how the regime depicted industrialization and technological advancement to support its racial and ideological goals. After the Nazi Party’s rise and consolidation of power, propaganda noticeably started to focus on themes of technological advancements; aviation, radio, and factories symbolizing modern technical advances appear in many posters, projecting Germany as an up-and-coming nation rising out of the Versailles era. This …

Adaptive Lunar Landing Legs: Minimal Se(3) Modeling And Evidence Of Robustness On Slopes, Rithika Nagarajan Mar 2026

Adaptive Lunar Landing Legs: Minimal Se(3) Modeling And Evidence Of Robustness On Slopes, Rithika Nagarajan

Student Research Symposium (SRS)

Small lunar payloads must land safely on sloped, uncertain terrain but often cannot afford the mass and complexity of fully active landing gear; conversely, rigid passive legs offer limited stability margin. We evaluate a low-complexity alternative: passive–adaptive legs that retain a passive spring–damper architecture while scheduling per-leg stiffness and damping from only the local slope and vertical touchdown speed. A minimal SE(3) MATLAB simulator models a four-leg lander on plane terrain (0–30◦ about +y) with lunar gravity (1.62 m s−2), viscous tangential friction capped by a Coulomb limit (𝜇 = 0.6), and ode45 integration (time step ≈ 2 ms, horizon …

Low Temperature Plasma Simulation Using The Lattice Boltzmann Method, Shepard Summers, Christopher Anderson Mar 2026

Low Temperature Plasma Simulation Using The Lattice Boltzmann Method, Shepard Summers, Christopher Anderson

Pulsed Low-Temperature Plasma (LTP) has become a subject of interest in various fields, including propulsion, material processing, and medical technology. LTP flows are challenging to accurately simulate due to their physical complexities and multiscale nature, spanning scales ranging from meters on the system level to nanoscale when investigating the interactions between ions and electrons. The conventional models for simulating LTP flow are not able to handle this wide range of scales in a computationally efficient manner. The Boltzmann method, which is rooted in kinetic theory rather than Newtonian, can efficiently tackle the multiscale properties of LTP flow by directly solving …

Harmful waste is prevalent all over the world, especially in publicly accessible tourist locations such as here in Daytona Beach. Sustainable Environment Autonomous Litter-Remover (SEAL) is intended to be a fully autonomous, all-terrain waste-sifting robot. SEAL’s main goal is to locate, navigate to, and remove harmful waste within GPS-inaccurate environments, and the environment we’ll be operating in will be sandy beaches near the coast. Using this environment for operation comes with the prominent challenge of localization, as there is a lack of significant features within the area and the area’s locale; therefore, localization tends to be extremely challenging as the …

Synthesis Of Biodegradable Nanofibers For The Increase Of Biosensor Sensitivity, Rahela A. Dolha Mar 2026

Synthesis Of Biodegradable Nanofibers For The Increase Of Biosensor Sensitivity, Rahela A. Dolha

Student Research Symposium (SRS)

The development and use of point-of-care (POC) biosensors is more widespread than ever. Their popularity provides opportunity for portable and cost-effective medical testing anywhere at any time. Results are rapid and continuous while maintaining a user-friendly interface. Unfortunately, their small size decreases sensor amplification and sensitivity/limit of detection, resulting in inaccurate measurements. In order to increase sensor sensitivity and amplification, this study optimizes the synthesis of an electrosprayed nanofiber matrix whose high surface area increases an inflammation sensor’s sensitivity and signal amplification. The nanofiber will be made of biodegradable materials such as chitosan and nanocellulose, and will contain PVA which …

An Investigation Of The Magneto-Active Propellant Slosh Control Mechanism For Cylindrical Tanks Using An Adaptive Magnetorheological Fluid Interface, Shaik Rayhan Anwar

Student Research Symposium (SRS)

Fluid slosh is the natural phenomenon describing fluids in a partially filled tank being acted upon by external forces which cause transient movement within the confined container. Propellant slosh has been a problem with spacecraft, restricting complete control of its stability, trajectory, and vehicle safety due to undesirable dynamic alterations. The Microgravity Lab at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) has been working on solving this for 15+ years, opposing traditional passive approaches to opt for more active methods. This research focuses to further build upon the legacy project’s Magneto-Active Propellant Management Device (MAPMD) by reducing non-trivial mass penalties, removing computational structural …

Yarkovsky Effect For Particles In Circumlunar Space, Rohith Vinnakota, Le Na Hoang Mar 2026

Yarkovsky Effect For Particles In Circumlunar Space, Rohith Vinnakota, Le Na Hoang

Student Research Symposium (SRS)

The concept of Kessler Syndrome concerns the eventuality that increasing amounts of “space junk” in orbit around Earth will inhibit our ability to safely launch spacecraft from the surface of the planet into orbit and/or deep space. While countermeasures are slowly being taken for Earth, this is still an issue that persists for other celestial bodies. One solution that shows promise for solving this problem is utilization of the Yarkovsky Effect, which theorizes that objects in orbit are perturbated by photons as a result of illumination from sunlight. Our goal in this study is to review the feasibility of applying …
