Background/Objectives: While theoretical articles describing cultural considerations for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) treatment in Latine/x populations exist, empirical trials are less common. The present study aimed to review the existing literature for empirically tested, trauma-focused PTSD treatments among Latine/x samples to describe treatment outcomes, cultural considerations, and gaps in the existing literature. Methods: For this scoping review, we identified studies that met inclusion criteria as culturally considerate, trauma-focused PTSD treatments reporting symptom outcomes in Latine/x adults. We searched databases (n = 7) and collected 2176 unique records. Six reports met inclusion criteria. Studies enrolled 176 participants into five …

The court, under CPLR §2001, allowed the petitioner to correct the error and deemed the correct notice served nunc pro tunc, denying the tenant's motion to dismiss. Natural disasters pose significant risks to individuals with chronic diseases, exacerbating health disparities through disruptions in healthcare access and systemic vulnerabilities. This study investigated the association between chronic disease-related mortality occurring within 2 months of Hurricane Irma, and whether demographic variables, including age, sex, race, Hispanic ethnicity, poverty, urbanicity, and educational attainment, modified this relationship. This cross-sectional study used the social-ecological model to analyze secondary mortality data from the National Vital Statistics System. Bivariate and multivariate logistic regression revealed that deaths from chronic illnesses, occurring between September 2017 and October 2017, were 2.694 times higher, compared to the same period …

Nuclease-deactivated Cas (dCas) proteins can be used to recruit epigenetic effectors, and this class of epigenetic editing technologies has revolutionized the ability to synthetically control the mammalian epigenome and transcriptome. DNA methylation is one of the most important and well-characterized epigenetic modifications in mammals, and while many different forms of dCas-based DNA methyltransferases (dCas-DNMTs) have been developed for programmable DNA methylation, these tools are frequently poorly tolerated and/or lowly expressed in mammalian cell types. The mutational landscape of phylogenetically ultraconserved elements (UCEs), especially those in noncoding DNAs (ncUCEs), and their functional relevance in cancers remain poorly characterized. Here, we perform a systematic analysis of whole-genome and in-house targeted UCE sequencing datasets from more than 3000 patients with cancer of 13,736 UCEs and demonstrate that ncUCE somatic alterations are common. Using a multiplexed CRISPR knockout screen in colorectal cancer cells, we show that the loss of several altered ncUCEs significantly affects cell proliferation. In-depth functional studies in vitro and in vivo further reveal that specific ncUCEs can be enhancers of tumor suppressors (such as ARID1B) …

This Expert Consensus Statement serves to outline expert opinion on what constitutes appropriate supervision and the essential components of safe CEUS practice. While there have been studies on Asian American (AA) parents' experiences with the U.S. special education (SPED) system, there have been no studies on Filipino American (FA) parents' experiences with the SPED system. As FAs are the third largest Asian group in the United States., there is a need for special education research to be conducted with this population. Interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) interviews were conducted over Zoom with FA parents of children receiving SPED services. When faced with a repudiatory breach of contract, parties may either terminate the contract or seek its specific performance. The latter choice acquired newfound significance following the 2018 amendment to the Specific Relief Act, which marked a decisive shift away from treating specific performance as a discretionary remedy, establishing it instead as a rule. A series of new thiophene, imine, coumarin and pyrazole derivatives X4-X16 were synthesized from N-(1-(4- (benzylsulfonyl)phenyl)ethylidene)-2-cyanoacetohydrazide X3 as a starting material with di erent reagents (tetralone, cyclopentanone, cycloheptanone, 2-hydroybenzaldehyde, 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde, CS2 and phenylisothiocyanate). The compound X3 was synthesized by the reaction of 4-(benzylsulfonyl)acetophenone with 2-cyanoacetohydrazide under reflux in ethanol. The structures of all synthesized compounds were confirmed by (FT-IR, 1H-NMR, and 13C-NMR).

This dissertation explores the scourge of sexism in African and African-American Pentecostalism within the context of a critique of Black Liberation Theology, including the many challenges the intersection of race, gender, and class poses for Black clergywomen seeking leadership roles in the Pentecostal church, their courageous attempts to tackle this problem, and the extent to which sexism has permeated the Pentecostal Church and contributed to the marginalization of Black clergywomen in that community. The broad issue is whether women qua human beings can represent Christ, to which question this study answered yes.

This study examined the mineralogical, petrographic, technological, and material properties of thinly cut marble slabs usedin the flooring and cladding of the frigidarium section of a bath constructed in the 2nd century AD in Metropolis, a city that connectedtwo significant centers in Western Asia Minor-Ephesus and Smyrna-during the Roman period. The study also explains the possibletechniques and methods by which these marble slabs could have been cut so thinly. Following the ban on considering race in higher education admissions under Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President & Fellows of Harvard College, concerns have emerged over maintaining racial diversity in college classrooms. This analysis offers a comparative perspective, exploring the history and methodologies of affirmative action in the United States and India to identify effective strategies for promoting diversity in U.S. universities. Recommended approaches include top percent programs, socioeconomic-based affirmative action, test-optional or test-blind policies, race-based recruiting, removing legacy preferences, and holistic student reviews.
