In this essay, we examine legal and political challenges to solidarity with and among migrants. We begin by describing the disturbing and powerful turn toward de-solidarity, particularly in some Global North countries, that threatens to undermine the global refugee and migration law regime. Politicians seek to capitalize upon racial fears of migrants from the Global South to reject solidarity (with the latter group) as a concept and pursue anti-immigrant laws and policies. We next examine anti-solidarity, as shown by the criminalization of humanitarian assistance as migrant smuggling. Purpose: Despite increasing awareness among fashion consumers about the positive environmental and societal impacts of sustainable fashion as a viable alternative to fast fashion, their actual adoption behavior often diverges. This study aims to empirically investigate consumers’ resistance barriers to sustainable fashion clothing. Design/methodology/approach: This study utilizes innovation resistance theory to examine the barriers to consumer intention to buy sustainable clothing. The study collected a large sample (N = 745) of fashion consumers from the USA and India to test a research model. Housing remains the most important problem in the minds of Mainers, but the state budget and taxes are growing areas of concern. A plurality believe Maine spends too little on education and most support a proposed increase in teacher pay. Most also support a $1 increase in the cigarette tax and a slim majority support a proposed constitutional amendment related to noncitizen voting.

Over the past several years, the therapeutic landscape for patients with advanced, unresectable, or metastatic hepatocellular carcinoma has been transformed by the incorporation of checkpoint inhibitor immunotherapy into the treatment paradigm. Frontline systemic treatment options have expanded beyond anti-angiogenic tyrosine kinase inhibitors, such as sorafenib, to a combination of immunotherapy approaches, including atezolizumab plus bevacizumab and durvalumab plus tremelimumab, both of which have demonstrated superior response and survival to sorafenib. Additionally, combination treatments with checkpoint inhibitors and tyrosine kinase inhibitors have been investigated with variable success. This dataset encompasses 44 Panasonic UR18650AA cells cycled under 11 unique conditions until an end-of-life of 65% remaining capacity. Cycling tests were performed under ambient conditions (~22 degrees Celsius) and were interrupted approximately every 3.5 days (~100 cycles, depending on the charge rate, discharge rate, and depth of discharge) to perform a reference performance test (RPT). During the RPT, the cell’s remaining capacity is measured, and 100-second-long, 1C constant-current pulses are conducted at nine states of charge (SOC): 10%, 20%, …, and 90%. In SEC v. Jarkesy, the Supreme Court held that whenever the SEC seeks to impose monetary penalties on enforcement targets for securities fraud, it must proceed in federal court and not its own administrative forum. Many observers predict this will significantly impact SEC enforcement.

Brain tumors are commonly treated with radiotherapy, but the efficacy of the treatment is limited by its toxicity to the normal tissue including post-irradiation contrast enhanced lesions often linked to necrosis. The poorly understood mechanisms behind such brain lesions were studied using cerebral organoids. Here we show that irradiation of such organoids leads to dose-dependent growth retardation and formation of liquid-filled cavities but is not correlated with necrosis. Instead, the radiation-induced changes comprise of an enhancement of cortical hem markers, altered neuroepithelial stem cell differentiation, and an increase of ZO1+/AQP1+/CLDN3+-choroid plexus (CP)-like structures accompanied by an upregulation of IGF2 mRNA, …
