The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore the lived experiences of single African American mothers raising males and their association with criminal behavior. The nature of this research was phenomenological. This cross-sectional study, informed by the general strain theory, explored the effects of stress and strain from adversity and systematic racism on the criminality of African American male adolescents. Objective: Public health approaches for addressing diet-related health in the United States (US) include nutrition incentive (NI) and produce prescription (PPR) projects. These projects, funded through the US Department of Agriculture Gus Schumacher Nutrition Incentive Program (GusNIP), aim to support intake of fruits and vegetables through healthy food incentives. Measuring GusNIP impact is vital to assessing the ability of incentives to improve public health nutrition outcomes across populations. Shared measures used across GusNIP projects assess fruit and vegetable intake, food security, demographics, among other variables, through a participant survey. This study explored challenges and opportunities to support evaluation across GusNIP. …

The landlord's motion to dismiss the case based on improper service was denied after the court found proper service had been completed. Additionally, a preliminary injunction was granted, requiring the landlord to address repair violations and stop refusing to schedule necessary repairs. The judge showed strong support for the tenants' claims of unsafe living conditions.

The landlord's nonpayment proceeding was dismissed due to the use of a defective Notice of Petition, which omitted mandatory language required by AO 163/19. The court ruled that any modification to the prescribed form rendered it defective, even if seemingly minor, as strict adherence is required to protect unrepresented tenants. The tenant's motion to dismiss was granted, and the court also permitted the tenant to amend the answer.

This article draws attention to game design methods in decolonialist studies. As the importance of systematization in game design starts to become apparent, there is an opportunity to challenge the normalization of values, tropes, and power fantasies that have shaped the industry over the years. The article discusses the ways in which colonialist values permeate recurrent elements of game design, contrasting it with characteristics found in pre-colonial games and how they can be related to indigenous perspectives, which usually do not fit capitalist premises.

The study aimed to better understand elementary students’ mental health and well-being before and after the COVID-19 pandemic as well as whether there are differences in elementary students’ self-reported mental health between racial groups. Minnesota Student Survey results were analyzed, and the results of Bonferroni post-hoc tests found significant differences in worrying a lot and feeling sad between racial groups. Hispanic or Latino/Latina students are significantly more likely to worry a lot than all other racial/ethnic groups. Black, African, or African American students are significantly less likely to feel sad than all other racial/ethnic groups except White students. Elementary students’ …

Precision metagenomics, a clinically refined application of next-generation sequencing, represents a transformative advancement in infection diagnostics and antimicrobial stewardship. Fasting and caloric restriction are effective to treat patients with pre-diabetes or metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), previously known as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), but intensive lifestyle changes are difficult for many to implement and sustain. Therefore, by identifying and studying fasting-mediated signals, we hope to elicit and convey the therapeutic effects of fasting against MASLD without actual physiological fasting. We discovered a key pathway in the liver through unbiased transcriptomic screening in fasted mice, a novel glucose fasting-activated effector: the amino acid hydrolase, arginase 2 (ARG2). This research study presents a comprehensive review and analysis of sexual harassment focusing on why employees who were victims of sexual harassment may not report such an incident and how reporting of these incidences subsequently impacted the workplace experiences of those who report the issue. INTRODUCTION: The diversity of participating investigators representing diverse disciplines, career stages, stakeholder groups, regions and types of institutions is essential for the success of large-scale research programmes. In 2021, the National Institutes of Health introduced a requirement for some of its large grants to include a separate section that describes the project's plan for enhancing diverse perspectives (PEDPs). Our project aims to develop consensus-based PEDP evaluation metrics and instruments that can be systematically and sustainably collected across the projects.
