The Impact Of Individual Definitions Of Healthcare Quality On The Healthcare Industry And Organizations In The Southeastern United States, Phillip Dale Mcgarrah Jr.
The Impact Of Individual Definitions Of Healthcare Quality On The Healthcare Industry And Organizations In The Southeastern United States, Phillip Dale Mcgarrah Jr.
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this qualitative case study using a flexible design was to determine if there was a lack of a consensus stakeholder accepted definition of healthcare quality, what were the individual definitions of healthcare quality, and the potential impact on healthcare organizations in the southeastern United States. Exploration of the literature yielded numerous studies that identified specific healthcare quality attributes favored by specific industry members but that none of those definitions were shared between stakeholders. Those studies, however, did not consider the entirety of the stakeholders in their identification of healthcare quality defining attributes nor reasons for differences or …
The Impact Of Economic Stress On Marital Satisfaction, Luis Ventura
The Impact Of Economic Stress On Marital Satisfaction, Luis Ventura
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Marital satisfaction is considered a common index for measuring the stability and quality of marriages. Various factors have been considered to affect the stability and quality of marriages. In the context of the contemporary world, in which socioeconomic dynamics influence day-to-day existence, economic or financial stress is considered a factor that influences relationships. However, the extent to which economic stress affects relationships is unclear. This study examines the effect that economic stress (through its varied types) has on marital satisfaction. It applies a correlational research design where data is collected using quantitative survey questionnaires on a sample of 80 participants …
Marine Terrace Staircases Of Western Iberia: Uplift Rate Patterns From Rocky Limestone Coasts Of Central Portugal (Cape Raso - Abano Beach And Cape Espichel), Martin Stokes
School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences
The Western Iberian Peninsula is undergoing compressive tectonic reactivation, resulting in spatial and temporal variations of surface uplift. Uplift quantification can be undertaken in coastal settings using staircases of shore platforms developed onto rocky headlands. This study analyses two marine terrace staircases in central Portugal: Cape Raso - Abano beach and Cape Espichel. Geomorphic and stratigraphic analyses identified marine terraces/shore platforms developed below a culminant shore platform, four at Cape Raso and eleven at Cape Espichel. The terrace chronology was obtained by using ESR and pIRIR dating. Using the interactions between the elevation, age and global mean sea-level elevations, the …

Current Challenges And Preliminary Morphological Reassessment Of The Genus Chaerilus Simon, 1877 In China (Scorpiones: Chaerilidae), Victoria Tang
Euscorpius
The genus Chaerilus Simon, 1877 in China is preliminarily revised on a morphological basis, derived from the available literature and newly examined specimens. The robustness of several commonly applied species-level diagnostic criteria are evaluated. Ten species are provisionally recognized for China, including one new morphospecies, Chaerilus herta sp. n., described from 9 females, 40 males, and 2 juvenile females collected in Mêdog County. The current study only reveals and resolves several most elementary issues in the taxonomy of Chinese Chaerilus. Further molecular investigations are warranted until topotypes of certain species become available.

Let's Chat About Chatgpt: A Practical Guide To Risks In Attorney Use Of Generative Ai, Hon. John G. Browning
Let's Chat About Chatgpt: A Practical Guide To Risks In Attorney Use Of Generative Ai, Hon. John G. Browning
Akron Law Review
The rapid rise of generative AI tools like ChatGPT in the legal profession has sparked significant ethical and regulatory challenges after a federal judge sanctioned attorneys for citing non-existent cases generated by AI. This incident led to widespread judicial mandates requiring disclosure of AI use and prompted bar associations and ethics committees to address AI’s implications for legal practice. Despite AI’s potential to automate up to 44% of legal tasks, concerns about accuracy and ethical obligations persist. This article argues that the issue lies not with the technology itself but with lawyers neglecting duties of competence and supervision. As generative …
An Afropessimism Of Student Mobility: Is International Higher Education Extreme Investment In Whiteness?, Zoe A. Case
An Afropessimism Of Student Mobility: Is International Higher Education Extreme Investment In Whiteness?, Zoe A. Case
Journal of Graduate Education Research
This paper strives to consider whether, as Riyad Shahjahan and Kirsten Edwards suggest, international higher education systematically invests in Whiteness. In doing so, I explore first whether the international university system invests in Whiteness through its expansion of satellite campuses and systemic fetishisation of global university rankings. Turning towards the micro-level, I consider the individual international student as investor and, via an Afropessimist lens inspired by Frank B. Wilderson III and Sara Ahmed, I find that the question of Whiteness as investment situates Whiteness as a good in which everyone can invest. I show that although international higher education is …

Estimated Levels Of Glycated Albumin And C-Reactive Protein/Total Albumin Ratio Might Distinguish Prediabetics Among The Apparently Healthy People And Predict The Vulnerability For Development Of Steatohepatitis And Cardiac Risk., Rizk S. Sarhan, Raafat R Mohammed
BioMedicine
Background: Prediabetes precedes Type-2 diabetes development, is characterized by impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) as judged by the 75-gram oral glucose tolerance test (75-OGTT) and is associated with higher cardiac risk (CR), dyslipidemia, hepatosteatosis (HS) and cancer
Aims: The study aimed to determine the distinguishing ability of estimated levels of glycated albumin (GA) and hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), and serum C-reactive protein (CRP) and serum total albumin (TA) levels for prediabetic out of apparently healthy subjects.
Methods: IGT was diagnosed if fasting blood glucose (FBG) was 100-125 mg/dl and if /dl subject is normal glucose tolerant (NGT). CR, HS and insulin resistance …

Unveiling Role Of Oncogenic Signalling Pathways In Complicating Breast Cancer, Acharya Balkrishna, Sagar Kumar, Rohan Malik, Kuldeep Singh Mehra, Hariom Chaturvedi, Okeshwar Okeshwar, Rashmi Mittal
BioMedicine
Heterogeneous nature of breast cancer has significantly affected the overall survival, disease free survival and progression free survival amongst the diseased individuals. Metastasis of cancerous cells to distant sites including bone, lungs, liver, lymph node and others have further exhilarated the adverse effects. However, ER, PR and HER-2 are responsible for normal physiological development of women but in altered conditions they may act as initiator or progressor and so far 5 subtypes of disease have been identified. Alteration of pro-survival, pro-proliferative and anti-apoptotic pathways including JAK/STAT, MAPK,
PI3K/AkT/mTOR, NF-κB, BCL2 and several others have induced oncogenic events including epithelial-mesenchymal transition, …
Three-Dimensional Mesh Editing Using Masked Large Reconstruction Models
Three-Dimensional Mesh Editing Using Masked Large Reconstruction Models
Defensive Publications Series
We present a novel approach to mesh shape editing, building on recent progress in 3D reconstruction from multi-view images. We formulate shape editing as a conditional reconstruction problem, where the model must reconstruct the input shape with the exception of a specified 3D region, in which the geometry should be generated from the conditional signal. To this end, we train a conditional Large Reconstruction Model (LRM) for masked reconstruction, using multi-view consistent masks rendered from a randomly generated 3D occlusion, and using one clean viewpoint as the conditional signal. During inference, we manually define a 3D region to edit and …

Standing To Enforce The Future: Citizen Suits And Climate Change, Jordan Budd, Margaret Sova Mccabe
Standing To Enforce The Future: Citizen Suits And Climate Change, Jordan Budd, Margaret Sova Mccabe
Law Faculty Scholarship
This Article takes as its starting point the premise that Congress, facing an existential climate catastrophe, might choose to impose direct and significant restrictions on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Were it to do so, federal policy would require powerful enforcement mechanisms to reach the myriad emission sources fueling the nation’s vast contribution to global warming.
Among the most potent and far-reaching enforcement tools available to Congress are citizen suits—actions brought by private litigants to enforce federal regulations and to hold agencies accountable for related inaction. Private enforcement in the context of climate change, however, faces a nearly insurmountable barrier—Article III …

Taxes And Certainty: Challenges In Judicial Review Of U.S. Tax Legislation, Reuven S. Avi-Yonah, Moshe Jaffe
Law & Economics Working Papers
The application of judicial review to tax legislation presents unique challenges and inconsistencies. Unlike other forms of legislation, tax laws in the United States are seldom invalidated by the Supreme Court, and when this does occur, it is done using various and inconsistent tests, suggesting a need for a more balanced and effective approach. This paper explores the U.S. court's approach to judicial review in tax cases, empirically analyzing the methods and tests used in key decisions. The findings will reveal a complex and inconsistent picture, highlighting the need for a more coherent approach. Additionally, the research will analyze several …

Public Memory Through Memorialization, Sophie A. O'Brien
Public Memory Through Memorialization, Sophie A. O'Brien
SPARK Symposium Presentations
This research project aims to contextualize the story surrounding various Nashville monuments that memorialize civil rights leaders. This project will explore the history of monuments and road names in Nashville. The history will span from the Confederacy to the civil rights movement and examine how public memory has evolved and changed with the removal of some statues and the changing of road names. It aims to show who we choose to memorialize and why, and how the civil rights leaders we choose to remember reflects public sentiment of the civil rights era.
Two-Key Dependent Permutation (Tkdp) And Its Applications In Information Security, Arulmani K
Two-Key Dependent Permutation (Tkdp) And Its Applications In Information Security, Arulmani K
Theses and Dissertations
Two-Key Dependent Permutation (TKDP) algorithm for generating permutation sequences of fixed sizes, TKDP based Symmetric Block Cipher (TKDPSBC) and TKDP Audio encryption are being proposed in this thesis. TKDP algorithm is capable of generating different sequences for different key pairs. This makes it suitable for constructing dynamic S-boxes and P-boxes that have more degree of randomness and non-linearity to resist cryptanalytic attacks. Rigorous statistical tests validate the efficacy of the generated permutation sequences, affirming their suitability for cryptographic applications in conjunction with Fiestel network-based block ciphers. TKDPSBC encrypts a plaintext block into a ciphertext block of the same size. TKDP …
