This paper uses the Bodmin Jail Attraction in Cornwall, UK, as a case study to explore how sites of dark tourism have been subsumed into infantilised consumer culture. In these commodified, disney-esque forms, rather than being spaces of reflection and education, they act to perpetuate objective violence. This allows us to fetishise the subjective violence of the past and disavow our participation in or acceptance of present and future harms. A redox-active monolayer on an optically transparent electrode constitutes a typical platform for spectroelectrochemical sensing. The necessity for its sophistication arises from the availability of multi-dimensional sensing signals. Simultaneous monitoring of the redox current and color change synchronized with the oxidation state change significantly enhances sensitivity and selectivity. This study aimed to elucidate the modification of an indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode with a viologen monolayer with an ordered orientation. The calculations of rate coefficients for the interpretation of molecular spectra are a recognized computationally expensive task. This is particularly true for media like comets, where the dominant species (CO, CO₂, and H₂O) have relatively high masses. Currently, no clear methodology exists to treat the collisional excitation of heavy species at low temperatures, thus limiting the number of collisional studies on such species. This paper investigates the drivers of public debt surges in 172 countries from 1980 to 2021, focusing on stock-flow adjustments (SFA)—discrepancies between annual debt changes and budget deficits. Using survival analysis methods, we find that a one percentage point increase in the SFA to GDP ratio raises the hazard rate of a debt surge by 16%, with stronger effects in advanced economies (28%) compared to emerging markets (15%). Conditional on an increasing debt trend, higher SFA significantly increase the probability of a debt spike materializing. IFI16 is a well-characterized nuclear innate immune DNA sensor that detects foreign dsDNA, including herpesviral genomes, to activate the inflammasome and interferon pathways. Beyond immune signaling, IFI16 also functions as an antiviral restriction factor, promoting the silencing of invading viral genes through transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms. We recently demonstrated another role of IFI16, in which it interacts with and recruits the class I histone deacetylases, HDAC1 and 2, to the KSHV latency protein LANA, modulating its acetylation and function. Cluster of differentiation 44 (CD44), a transmembrane glycoprotein and Matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP2), a gelatinase enzyme have been implicated in several malignancies for their role in prognostication and diagnosis. We, therefore, made an effort to use these markers in urothelial malignancies and discuss their importance along with review of the literature.

Robotic technology applications in the surgical and medical disciplines have been developed gradually over many years with few contributions from many sources. Over conventional open procedures, these technologies provide a variety of benefits, including enhanced cosmesis, lower morbidity, and higher surgical safety. In < 2 decades, robotic surgery in otorhinolaryngology has advanced fast. It has been utilized in the surgical treatment of several pathological lesions and has become the part of the standard care in the treatment of oropharyngeal malignancies. Robotic surgery provides improved visualization, instrumentation, and ergonomics in comparison to conventional approaches in otorhinolaryngology, although cost remains a concern. Future robotic surgery will use technological innovation to higher visualization, expand surgical access, and even augment surgical decision-making with artificial intelligence. In this review article, we discuss the history of robotic surgery, the use of robotic surgery in otorhinolaryngology and head-and-neck surgery, and advantages and disadvantages of robotic surgery.

Neonatal thrombocytopenia is a common entity encountered in neonatal intensive care unit. Diagnosis often becomes challenging because of broad range of possible clinical diagnoses. Careful evaluation and history taking are the backbone of sound diagnosis. During such diagnostic dilemma, investigation as basic as peripheral smear examination can come to a rescue. Here, we present a rare case of neonatal autoimmune thrombocytopenia. On the basis of detailed history, careful examination, and basic investigations, diagnosis of May–Hegglin anomaly was made which was later confirmed by genetic studies (rare mutation in myosin heavy chain 9 gene).
