What rights do coastal residents have as the seas swallow their homes and livelihoods while the government fails to act? Many legal and policy reforms have been proposed to help people better respond to climate-induced coastal erosion. Little has been said about the underlying theories of climate governance. This Symposium Article identifies three theories of climate adaptation in the context of disappearing coastlines: scientific realism; economic realism; and liberal rights. A growing body of literature has suggested that ethnic-racial socialization (ERS) is a protective factor for Biracial youth as it can provide youth with skills to face different adversities like racial discrimination, ultimately improving their psychological well-being. Various types of ERS exist (e.g., verbal, non-verbal, etc) across different levels (e.g., parent-child, household/family) but some have been overlooked and understudied in research. This study examines the living conditions of mining-affected persons in the Ahafo South Mining Communities in Ghana using Cernea’s Impoverishment Risks and Reconstruction (IRR) model. Employing a case study design, data for the study was obtained through a combination of semi-structured interviews and close-ended questionnaires administered to ninety (90) respondents in the Ntotroso and OLA resettlement communities in the Asutifi North District, Ghana. The results show a complex mix of outcomes of mining-induced displacement and resettlement of the resettled population. Background/Objectives: Anthocyanin (ACN)-rich foods are known to influence the gut microbiota composition, but the temporal dynamics and structural specificity of these effects remain poorly understood. This study investigated how distinct ACN-rich fruit supplements impact the gut microbiome over time in the context of a Western-style diet. We hypothesized that ACN-induced microbial shifts would occur rapidly, differ by ACN source, and require continued intake to persist. Automatic vehicle guidance is prevalent for agricultural tractors. An unguided implement being pulled by a tractor can deviate from the desired path by varying soil conditions and gravity, e.g., on a sidehill (which causes tractor roll) or curve. The deviation from the guidance path will cause navigation error, and seed and fertilizer deviations can cause yield reductions. There are some commercial active implement guidance systems, but their steering performance was primarily reported on flat ground and not well-reported on side hills. Household energy burden is a simple concept with complicated causes. Energy burden measures the percentage of income spent by a household on energy for heating, lighting, air conditioning, cooking, etc. Households with greater energy burdens may have to make tradeoffs between paying utility bills and medical, housing, or other expenses. Some limited quantitative and case study research indicates that underprivileged groups suffer larger energy burdens, often attributed to lower income levels. Absenteeism is on the rise in schools, significantly impacting young students. Despite ongoing interventions, chronic absenteeism continues to grow in primary grades, creating potential deficits in learning, health, and life outcomes. Although chronic absenteeism has been extensively researched, lack of clarity exists about the most effective methods to improve student attendance.

Research has indicated connecting families with schools can positively intervene in absenteeism. The purpose of this study was to determine how parents’ participation in attendance-based workshops affects their perceptions of the value of attendance in primary grades. This study explores the lived experiences of a transgender educator navigating public school systems in Mississippi and Minnesota. The purpose of this research is to illuminate how systemic discrimination, lack of institutional support, and cultural attitudes toward gender identity affect both the personal and professional lives of transgender teachers. Using an autoethnographic approach, I analyzed weekly journal entries written over multiple school years across three distinct school settings. These reflections were thematically examined to identify patterns related to identity negotiation, resilience, workplace discrimination, and moments of resistance.

This study examines the experiences of African American students who have experienced implicit bias in educational settings, addressing the research question: "What are the narratives of African American students who have experienced instances of implicit bias in the classroom?" Using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis and Critical Race Theory as frameworks for inquiry, six randomly selected African American high school seniors were interviewed about their experiences regarding implicit bias during their time through grades K-12. Key findings revealed students' sophisticated pattern recognition of discriminatory treatment, limited positive media representation impacting self-perception, severe lack of African American teachers, curriculum gaps reducing Black history …

Climate change significantly impacts infrastructure sustainability, particularly through shifts in precipitation patterns, intensity, and duration. These precipitation dynamics may increase the occurrence of surface water and groundwater flooding. Groundwater in the Nebraska Sand Hills (NSH), including the thickest portions of the High Plains Aquifer, extends close to the land surface in interdunal areas, making the NSH vulnerable to groundwater flooding. Recent events involving heavy precipitation, snow melt, and rising groundwater levels have caused prolonged highway flooding, disrupting transportation networks. The 200th anniversary of the foundational Indian law decision Johnson v. M’Intosh has come and gone, with many scholars contributing criticism and commentary. The dominant focus has been the case’s notorious embrace of the so-called “doctrine of discovery,” an odious theory for rationalizing European nations’ claims of superior rights to lands occupied by Indigenous Native American peoples. Commanding less attention, however, is the Johnson decision’s core protective legal feature, i.e., its reinforcing the United States government’s duty to guard against the alienation of Indian lands through private, unauthorized acquisitions.
