For nearly 20 years, researchers have studied distributed leadership—the interactive web of leaders, followers, and situation—as it occurs in schools around the world. Their studies have primarily focused on the interactions of leaders and followers in task-centric situations, highlighting distributed delegation, in which, upon task completion, leaders and followers return to their traditional roles. However, very few studies have focused on the reinterpretation of leader and follower roles through distributed leadership or how this reinterpretation can dismantle traditional hierarchical power paradigms in schools. There has been insufficient attention by global health scholars to labor organizing by health workers, including when and why organizing occurs, what forms and strategies it takes and its implications for governance and policy. These questions are critical but largely absent in research on what has been called the “global health workforce crisis.” Kenya represents an important case study. A new constitution in 2010 expanded institutional spaces for labor organizing and decentralized governance of the health system. Interview protocols are by far the most common method utilized in qualitative research data collection. Novice and experienced researchers, from working on dissertations to grant proposals or other publications, often lack detailed interview design methods, as many educational programs do not require specific coursework on interview protocols and question development. To improve qualitative research, we make a proposal to incorporate an interdisciplinary approach that operationalizes three stages: preparation, development, and refinement. Preparation involves mapping the extant literature to define broad, narrow, and focused topics to write actionable standards, goals, and objectives. Based on an investigation of newspaper articles, this article presents a first look at the activities of Antonio Jiménez Manjón, Miguel Llobet, and Agustín Barrios in Chile between 1893 and 1918. Manjón’s concerts were well received, clashing with some of the discourse in the local media, which considered the guitar vulgar and expressionless. Llobet introduced the Tárrega school in Chile in 1912, which is in itself a milestone in the study of Tárrega’s pedagogical philosophy in that country. Furthermore, his technique was praised and, like Manjón’s, led to the challenging of prejudices against the guitar. The case of Agustín Barrios, …

In light of widespread (mis)use of trigger warnings, content warnings, and content notes in intercollegiate competitive speech, in this essay we interrogate the implementation of these devices and propose an intervention to ensure the activity moves toward a better-informed praxis to accomplish its goal of community care. By identifying the activity’s current propensity for misused warnings, missed messages, a misrepresentation of safety, and misguided performances, our intervention aspires to ensure these important warnings are more thoughtfully employed so as to limit potential harm to our messages, our community members, our activity, and our collective educational aim toward advocacy.

Contemporary trauma theory argues that trauma operates in a binary, linear fashion that represents healing from a crisis. As one of the foremost trauma theorists, Cathy Caruth situates trauma within a binary framework of either victim or perpetrator but does not fully account for victims who became perpetrators or those who perpetrated for survival—or for the survival of others. One example of such a figure is Gisella Perl. Trade restrictions are tools that countries often use to safeguard national interests, including economic stability, national security, and public welfare. However, under the World Trade Organization (WTO) framework-especially the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT)-many such restrictions violate core principles such as non-discrimination (Articles I and III), the prohibition of quantitative restrictions (Article XI), and rules governing exceptions (Articles XX and XXI). This article examines how the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia (the Court) constructs its argumentation regarding the limitation and derogation of human rights. The primary issue is how the Court interprets and operationalises the limitation clause under the Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia to derogate from and limit human rights. The Banyumas and Banyuwangi dialects of Javanese exhibit notable lexical similarities, particularly in their retention of Old Javanese vocabulary, consonant endings, the specificity of vowel phonemes, and syllabic structures. These linguistic commonalities necessitate further research at other linguistic levels to substantiate the similarities between these two geographically distant dialects. This comparison also serves as a basis for reinforcing the hypothesis of a historical migration of Javanese speakers from Banyumas to Banyuwangi. Furthermore, this study confirms that the varieties of Javanese spoken in Banyumas and Banyuwangi constitute distinct dialects. This study examines the role of the Gawang Angklung (Galung) application, a visual-based digital tool integrating traditional angklung music with interactive visual cues, in supporting inclusive music education for deaf learners. Designed to bridge the gap between sound-based musical instruction and the learning needs of students with hearing impairments, Galung enables ensemble participation through synchronized visual signals. Using a convergent mixed-methods design, data were collected from 24 deaf students, four music educators, and two application developers through interviews, classroom observations, and questionnaires. Quantitative results showed significant improvements in rhythmic accuracy (p < .01) and tempo recognition, while qualitative analysis revealed increased motivation, collaborative engagement, and communicative confidence. The paper aims at elucidating and solving the methodological problems around the estimation of the cost of capital in the project finance settings. By convention, capital budgeting analysts evaluate project finance ventures using the free cash flow for equity (FCFE) method, whereby cash flows, including cash, whose distribution is limited by debt covenants, are discounted with the project’s cost of equity. We argue that this approach is erroneous. From the standpoint of the sponsor company, only distributable cash flows should be taken into consideration when evaluating project finance ventures. Portulaca afra and Portulaca grandiflora are traditional medicinal that grow as ornamental plants in Iraq. The present study was conducted for GC-MS analysis of the leaves of these plants to identify possible bioactive compounds. Seventy-nine compounds were recorded in the methanolic extract in Portulaca afra and ninety-two in Portulaca grandiflora. A literature survey revealed that some compounds 4-Vinylphenol, gamma-Sitosterol, Neophytadiene, n-Hexadecanoic acid, Octadecanoic acid, Phytol, Stigmasterol and Tetradecanoic acid possess a variety of biological qualities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and anti-cancer effects.

The Tendency To See Propensity: How Admitting Defendant-Authored Rap Lyrics As Evidence Of Motive Or Intent Can Look Like Inadmissible Character Evidence, Joseph Noreña

Denver Sports & Entertainment Law Journal

Defendant-authored rap lyrics admitted as evidence present unique evidentiary issues. In particular, when such lyrics are admitted to prove the motive or intent of the defendant-author, the lyrics can look like character evidence and be unduly prejudicial. Nevertheless, sometimes those lyrics valuably provide specific admissions of the defendant-author’s motive or intent. As a balance, this article argues that courts should be careful to admit defendant-authored rap lyrics where they are only generally related to a defendant’s motive or intent because of the prejudice a jury might have when seeing or hearing defendant-authored rap lyrics.

Chris Kyle’s book, American Sniper, detailed his exploits as a prolific Navy SEAL sniper. In a book subchapter Kyle detailed an encounter with a “Mr. Scruff Face” in a San Diego Bar. The book states that Ventura made certain statements that were demeaning of the United States and the Navy SEALS.” Scruff Face was subsequently identified by Chris Kyle as Jesse Ventura, former governor of Minnesota. Ventura sued Chris Kyle for defamation, appropriation, and unjust enrichment.
