The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technology into design education presents both opportunities and challenges. While AI tools can improve learning efficiency, research remains limited in understanding the impact on students’ creative thinking—particularly in relation to the interplay between creative mindset (i.e., growth vs. fixed) and AI self-efficacy. This study adopted a cross- sectional survey design, administering the Creative Mindset Scale and the AISelf-Efficacy Scaleto243 design students. As global populations age, informal caregiving by family and community members plays an increasingly vital role in supporting older adults. This paper investigates how artificial intelligence (AI) can foster socio-emotional connectedness among older adults, informal caregivers, and their broader social networks. We conducted a two-phase ethnographic study with older adult–caregiver pairs in their home environments. Phase one employed contextual inquiry to explore social-emotional dynamics, relational boundaries, and caregiving challenges. Phase two used metaphor-driven probes to examine AI’s potential to mediate emotional connectedness and address relational barriers. This paper employs Thomas Kuhn’s paradigm shift framework to analyze the evolution of design, arguing that the field is undergoing a fundamental transformation from Human-Centered Design (HCD) to Assemblage-Centered Design. Historically, design progressed from a pre-paradigm phase (artifact-centered, industrial-era design) to a normal science phase (HCD, emphasizing user needs and design thinking). However, systemic crises such as climate change, social inequality, and AI integration, revealed anomalies in HCD’s user-centric focus, triggering a revolutionary phase. This systematic review examines the literature on doctoral education in art and design. We analysed 1,086 publications to categorise different approaches to art and design doctorates. Our analysis reveals three distinct doctoral types aligned with different educational aims: knowledge development doctorates emphasising systematic research and theoretical contribution; social utility doctorates focusing on professional practice and practical application; and individual development doctorates prior it ising artistic self-discovery and creative expression. This paper explores how institutional design can embed design thinking into public governance through the Taiwan’s Design Movement for Public in Taiwan. Initiated in 2023, the initiative integrates a two- stage open call mechanism, a multi-stakeholder co-creation platform, and design-oriented workflows that enable government agencies to reframe challenges, engage interdisciplinary teams, and implement context-specific spatial interventions. This paper explores how through visual analysis of contemporary design of typographic systems in Colombia, it is possible to create a custom framework for clustering and analysis to help recognize the possible emergence of cultural signals of colonised communities and cultural groups. This paper explores haunt ological speculation as an innovative approach to Speculative Design in undergraduate design education. While Speculative Design methodologies have gained prominence in design curricula, they often struggle to imagine future scenarios beyond apocalyptic narratives, leading to a form of "imaginative paralysis." This study explores how an immersive coffee tasting experience, integrating sensory design and mindfulness guidance can evoke participants’ psychological transformation and embodied engagement. Thematic analysis identified five interconnected stages: sensory unfolding, immersive perception, mindfulness experience, internal transformation, and behavioral intention. Findings indicate that participants initially heightened their awareness of sensory details—such as the materiality of cups, ambient sounds, and aromas—then entered a state of focused immersion, experiencing emotional resonance and self-reflection through mindfulness. The research investigated the feasibility and effectiveness of an interactive feedback system integrating wearable sensors and real-time visual feedback for pre-vocational lower limb motor function in individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID). Using a single-group pre- and post-test design, 12 participants completed five training sessions focusing on knee extension, plantarflexion, and do rsi flex ion. Outcomes were evaluated through gait stability metrics (total deviation, walking time, and steps) and surface electro myo graphy (sEMG) signals. This study explores how personality traits of AI chatbots affect designers’ emotional experience, empathy, and the quality of outcomes during the empathy phase of the design thinking process. A between-subjects experimental design was conducted with 60 design students assigned to interact with chatbots exhibiting positive, neutral, or negative personality traits. Participants collaborated with the chatbot to complete an empathy mapping task, and their emotional and empathic states were measured before and after the interaction. This paper investigates how interaction modalities, specifically text-based versus speech-based interfaces, influence the experience and outcomes of academic co-writing with generative AI (GenAI). Drawing on distributed and situated cognition and human-AI creativity studies, I argue that modality is a structuring force in how ideas emerge, evolve, and stabilize in academic writing. Text-based interaction supports branching exploration, comparative revision, and temporal layering, enabling asynchronous control and persistent visual memory. In contrast, speech-based interaction facilitates associative thinking and spontaneous ideation, offering immediacy and flow. Tourism, as a highly service-dependent industry, faces increasing environmental and social sustainability pressures. To address these challenges, service design is becoming a critical mechanism for systemic change. This study aims to investigate how Service Ecosystem Design (SED) contributes to sustainable development in the tourism industry from a design-oriented perspective. A systematic literature review and meta-analysis were conducted. From a total of 1,342 articles published between 2014 and 2024, 35 empirical studies were rigorously selected and analyzed using a design-focused coding framework. The communities of knowledge and practice have faced challenges in understanding the emotion- driven, nonlinear travel behaviours of Generation Z (Gen Z) travellers when developing smart tourism design solutions. To tackle this issue, our study conducted fourteen in-depth interviews with Gen Z participants, revealing a “privacy-expression paradox.” Gen Z travellers are eager to showcase their personal travel experiences creatively; however, they also wish to maintain privacy boundaries within their generation.
