Grape (Vitis vinifera L.) is one of the most economically significant fruit crops which has a large adaptive range, nutrition and medicine effect. A variety of 70 types of grapes are planted on more than 11.6 million plants in Iraq, generating a total annual output of more than 421,000 tons. Increasing grape quality, and particularly the phenolic composition recently has been of major interest. Leaf nutrition – particularly seaweed extracts, being rich in amino acids, trace elements and growth promoting substances – has proved to be a potential tool to enhance plant growth and fruit biochemical quality. Amicus curiae brief submitted by immigration law professors in support of the respondent in Bondi v. Lau before the Supreme Court of the United States. The brief argues that lawful permanent residents returning from travel abroad may not be treated as seeking admission unless they satisfy the statutory criteria set forth in the Immigration and Nationality Act. It further contends that ambiguities in deportation statutes should be resolved in favor of noncitizens under the longstanding immigration rule of lenity.

Objectives: To define prognostic factors that affect clinical outcome of patients after surgical resection of spinal intramedullary ependymoma.

Methods: A retrospective multi-center study, including all cases operated on from 2007 through 2024 at 3 institutes. Data on surgical factors included: resection extent, intraoperative neurophysiology monitoring methods, and intraoperative/postoperative complications.

Results: A total of 19 patients were included with a mean age of 37.8 years (SD = 13.2, range 8–57 years). The majority of ependymomas (n = 14, 73.7%) were in the cervical region. The most common presenting symptoms included pain in 14 patients (73.7%), sensory deficits in 11 patients (57.8%), …

Cerebellar ataxias are characterized by impaired motor coordination resulting from neuronal dysfunction within the cerebellum. The mechanisms underlying this pathology and its cerebellar-specific neurodegeneration remain unknown. We uncover how a gain-of-function canonical transient receptor potential member 3 (TRPC3) mutation, coupled with a cerebellum-specific isoform, stabilizes the channel’s open state, resists the leading inhibitor Pyr3, and drives calcium-dependent cell death. Restoring calcium homeostasis by expressing a Purkinje cell calcium pump improves cell viability. Transgenic expression of the TRPC3 hypermorphic variant in Caenorhabditis elegans induces neurodegeneration, confirming its pathogenicity across species. Objectives: To guide medical students and interns interested in neurology by identifying the key attributes of an ideal neurology candidate from the perspectives of neurology program directors (PDs).

Methods: In this cross-sectional study, former and current neurology PDs were contacted across Saudi Arabia to complete a self-administered survey sent via email or text. The survey included seven questions: six on PD demographics and a seventh with 51 items evaluating candidate attributes on a 7-point Likert scale from disadvantage to advantage.

Indigenous belief communities in Indonesia continue to face marginalization in the national education system, limiting their access to education that aligns with their spiritual and cultural values. Our study investigates how the Sapta Darma community members perceive inclusive education and how their socio-cultural traditions can support educational practices rooted in independent learning. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach and a multi-site design, data were collected from 30 participants, including community leaders, parents, and youth in Banyuwangi, Kediri, and Yogyakarta through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. This study examines the sociopragmatic patterns of Spanish evaluative constructions involving qué/vaya in contemporary digital discourse. Drawing upon politeness and impoliteness frameworks by Penelope Brown and Stephen C. Levinson (1978, 1987) and Jonathan Culpeper (1996), this research observes how speakers deploy use these constructions within public discourse to negotiate stance. The data consists of posts from X (formerly Twitter) and comments from YouTube videos, selected to showcase naturally occurring instances of (im)politeness across social media. The Principle of Sufficient Reason has a long history, but basically put, states that everything that exists has a reason or explanation for its existence. This principle has been a controversial one as it has been used to argue for the existence of God and have been accused of entailing determinism. In this thesis, I will be defending a version of the PSR advocated by Alexander Pruss, that all true contingent propositions need an explanation. I will also argue that the principle of sufficient reason should be restricted to our phenomenal experiences, just like Kant does.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a lethal and rapidly progressive hematologic malignancy with high rates of relapse and treatment refractoriness. Management of AML is complicated by biological heterogeneity in a disease that is broadly defined by the clonal expansion of myeloblasts that otherwise play an important role in healthy marrow tissues. While subtypes of AML are increasingly defined by druggable driver mutations including FLT3-ITD, IDH1, IDH2, and NPM1, conventional chemotherapy and reduced intensity induction regimens (e.g., azacitidine-venetoclax) remain therapeutic backbones. In this dissertation, I present intra-, inter-, and extra-textual felt responses to encounters with the otherworldly as described in Late Medieval texts as a lens through which to consider personal, social, and national imaginative potential surrounding contemporary issues across genres and disciplines. I argue that the use of otherworlds and otherworldly agents as both personally and rhetorically compelling analogues through which contemporary issues can be explored. I start my discussion of the felt impacts of encounters with the Arthurian otherworldly, with a particular focus on Glastonbury and Arthur’s alleged grave there, and how they transmit affects of sovereign authority. An accelerated transformation pipeline has been developed for functional genomics and trait gene analysis in Sorghum bicolor based on visual selection using the AmCyan reporter. Here, we combine a GRF4–GIF1 morphogenic regulator with a constitutively expressed AmCyan fluorescent reporter to enable early visual identification of transformed tissues from immature embryo (IE) explants and to shorten time‑to‑regeneration. We demonstrate a practical workflow in which AmCyan‑positive embryogenic clusters are visually recognized and excised 24-48 days after infection (DAI), and then rapidly regenerated directly into plants, in the absence of antibiotic/herbicide selection exposure. Reliable Agrobacterium mediated transformation of Sorghum remains constrained by low transformation frequencies and the requirement for high quality immature embryos (IEs). A useful conceptual framework describes transformation efficiency T=V(Cd×Ci×Cr), as the product of DNA delivery (Cd), stable integration (Ci), regeneration competence (Cr), and experiment specific variables (V). Using this framework, in a multi-year study we systematically evaluated parameters predicted to influence DNA delivery and regeneration. Standard IE workflows established baseline developmental dynamics of somatic embryogenesis and regeneration. To increase DNA delivery, we tested Agrobacterium strains and ternary vir helper vectors, which enhanced bacterial attachment and transient reporter expression. To elevate …

A system may utilize a structural fastener, such as a screw, as a dual-function component in compact electronic devices (e.g., smartphones, wearables, tablets). The fastener can be constructed from a conductive material and feature a selectively applied insulating coating on certain surfaces, for example, the threaded shank that engages with a conductive housing. The head of the fastener and a portion of its tip may remain uncoated to serve as external and internal electrical contact points, respectively. The term yuefu yiqu (yuefu poetry in melody-reliant form) in Wen Tingyun's Funerary Inscription for Yang Nian does not denote a poetic composition dependent on meldoy, but rather reflects the poet's vision of yuefu poetry's “melody-reliant” nature - an expressive aspiration to adapt works according to yuefu conventions. Guo Maoqian's classification of Wen Tingyun's self-composed yuefu poems with new titles as yuefu yiqu in his Collection of Yuefu Poetry directly follows Wen's original intent. The rise of new materialisms in Western academia in the twenty-first century has prompted a critical reexamination of the linguistic paradigm that dominated the humanities and social sciences in the twentieth century. Proponents of new materialism contend that the potential of linguistic constructivism has largely been exhausted and that scholarly attention should now shift toward the ontology of material entities. From this perspective, the relationship between language (words) and matter (things) has been reimagined and reinterpreted. Huang Jincheng's monograph Organic Modernity: The Young Hegel and the Discourse of Aesthetic Modernity focuses on the relationship between nature and spirit. It provides a deep and forceful discussion of the different understandings of organism held by major German intellectuals around 1800, as well as the internal rationale for the transformation from mechanical to organic modernity.
