Social Media Comments Of Top Athletes: A Gender Analysis, Madigan Mcgrath

Sports are fraught with gender inequality and sexism. This research focuses on differences in public opinion regarding top athletes' personal social media. The study investigates gender differences in topic, gender differences in tone, gender differences in platform, and differences in sports. Additionally, it aims to explore the tone and topics of comments on Instagram and X. Using the methodology of content analysis, this study will examine comment tone (e.g. negative, positive, or neutral), as well as whether the topic of comments is sports-related or gender-related. Findings provide insight into gender differences in the treatment of athletes in the digital sphere.

Freshwater salinization, especially the use of road salts for deicing, poses significant threats to freshwater wetlands. The Great Marsh in Elverson, Pennsylvania, is a unique and valuable freshwater ecosystem, and the largest contiguous freshwater wetland complex within the highly developed Philadelphia suburban landscape. Recently documented water quality and vegetative community degradation within the Marsh could be attributed to the Pennsylvania Turnpike, present along the Marsh’s southern boundary. Constructed in the 1950s, the Turnpike is a source of road salts and pathway for invasive species, namely the salt-tolerant Phragmites australis. Antiseptics and disinfectants are used globally to kill or inhibit the growth of bacteria to prevent infection. Considering the well-documented development of antibiotic resistance, the potential for evolved tolerance to alcohol-based antimicrobial agents raises concern. The ESKAPE bacterial pathogens (Enterococcus faecium, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Acinetobacter baumannii, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Enterobacter spp.) are a major cause of healthcare-associated mortality and present a threat to public health due to the progression of multi-drug resistance. Pleated Plasma Membrane Complex In Spermatids Of The Western Siren, Siren Nettingi (Caudata: Sirenidae), S.E. Trauth

I investigated the pleated plasma membrane complex of linear folds and biflagellar entities in developing spermatids of the Western Siren, Siren nettingi. My primary goal was to reveal the ultrastructural morphology of these distinctive cellular folds (usually 8 in number) as they support the flagellar formation of biflagellated sperm found in this salamander and in other members in the family Sirenidae. My results reveal that the biflagellar components (2 sets of axonemes, undulating membranes, and axial fibers), termed biflagellar complex, develop between folds or are attached onto these folds. Given the prevalence of screentime, its impact on child development has become a question of key concern for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers, as well as parents. Recent attention has focused specifically on the potential negative effects of screentime on young children’s development of self-regulatory capacities. These negative effects of screentime could be particularly detrimental for children in poverty, who face stressors and forms of environmental adversity that can compromise self-regulatory development. In the most simplistic form, mathematical identities manifest in the statements, “I am good at math” or “I am not good at math”. Once established, individuals’ identities influence how they interact and approach mathematical problem-solving (Bishop, 2012; Boaler, 2013; Boaler & Selling, 2017). The purpose of this mixed-method explanatory sequential study is to explore a deeper understanding of how elementary teachers’ mathematical identities influence their beliefs about effective math instruction. Utilizing an explanatory sequential mixed-method design, a questionnaire was used for the initial quantitative analysis of teachers' mathematical identities. Spatiotemporal Distribution Of Mangrove Along The Egyptian Red Sea Coast And Analysis Of Hydrological Impact On Growth Patterns, H. Sewilam, B. T. Hassan, B. S. Khalil

This study presents an in-depth spatiotemporal analysis of mangrove ecosystems along Egypt’s Red Sea coast, utilizing satellite imagery and GIS to examine changes from 2003 to 2022. We evaluate the effects of hydrological factors, specifically rainfall and runoff -presented by Stream Power Index-, on mangrove growth patterns. Results indicate a significant increase in mangrove areas, with a notable annual growth rate, despite a reduction in a specific region. This research highlights the integral role of catchment area runoff (R2 = 0.735, R = 0.857, P-value = 0.003 < 0.05, CV = 70.26%), rather than direct rainfall, in mangrove expansion, contributing to the understanding of mangrove resilience and informing sustainable coastal management strategies. The study bridges a significant research gap by mapping decadal mangrove changes, offering insights into the dynamics affecting these crucial ecosystems.

Can Machines Commit Crimes Under U.S. Antitrust Laws?, Aslihan Asil, Thomas G. Wollmann

Generative artificial intelligence is being rapidly deployed for corporate tasks including pricing. Suppose one of these machines communicates with the pricing manager of a competing firm, proposes to collude, receives assent, and raises price. Is this a crime under U.S. antitrust laws, and, if so, who is liable? Based on the observed behavior of the most widely adopted large language model, we argue that this conduct is imminent, satisfies the requirements for agreement and intent under Section 1 of the Sherman Act, and could confer criminal liability to both firms as well as the pricing manager of the competing firm.

Major competition regulators, and substantial portions of the scholarly community, have rapidly adopted the view that “killer acquisitions” and “kill zones” constitute significant sources of competitive risk arising from incumbent acquisitions of emerging firms in digital markets. Based on this view, policymakers in the United States, European Union, and other jurisdictions have advocated for, and in some cases have taken, substantial changes to merger review policies that would erect significant obstacles to incumbent/startup acquisitions. For most of American history, courts have granted public health officials significant deference in construing the scope of their own authority. This changed during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially in the federal courts, where deference was replaced with skepticism as courts used the major questions doctrine to narrow the scope of public health powers. The Model Public-Health Emergency Authority Act, Robert Gatter

The Uniform Law Commission recently approved the Model Public-Health Emergency Authority Act (MPHEAA or the Act or the Model Act). The MPHEAA grants governors specific and plenary powers to issue public health emergency orders while also ensuring executive branch transparency and accountability. The Act improves public health emergency preparedness by resecuring the legal foundation for states to respond effectively to future emergencies. However, more work is needed to enhance data collection and support vulnerable populations in emergencies.

This Note explores the constitutional implications of Missouri’s recent abortion ban enacted in the wake of the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. This Note examines the clash of religious beliefs and the law by dissecting the legislative history and intent behind Missouri’s abortion ban. The ban, known as House Bill 126 or the “Missouri Stands for the Unborn Act,” took effect immediately upon certification by State Attorney General Eric Schmitt and prohibits nearly all abortions, except in cases of a narrowly defined “medical emergency.” Notably, the law invokes …

This essay examines the relationship between experiences of racial discrimination and pain, assessing how social, legal, and regulatory responses to racial pain in the United States can enable further discrimination and compound the underlying pain. The essay articulates a conceptual framework for understanding this relationship, contending that: racial discrimination can contribute to pain severity and sensitivity; patients of color seeking pain relief are subject to heavy social scrutiny, including from their medical providers; social scrutiny and regulatory restriction together limit patients’ lawful avenues for pain relief, including their access to controlled substances that are used to manage pain; patients who …

The Supreme Court held in Olmstead v. L.C. ex rel. Zimring, 527 U.S. 581, 581 (1999) that it is a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for states to rely on institutionalized care when home and community-based care is more appropriate. Yet, over a quarter of a century later, states persist in institutionalizing youth experiencing behavioral health disabilities. This article explores Olmstead’s impact thus far on deinstitutionalization of youth behavioral health care, and the limits of Olmstead as a vehicle for lasting change. An examination of innate behavior and its possible origins suggests parallels with the formation of habitual behavior. Inflexible but adaptive responses-innate reflexive behavior, Pavlovian conditioned responses, and operant habits-may have evolved from variable behavior in phylogeny and ontogeny. This form of "plasticity-first" scientific narrative was unpopular post-Darwin but has recently gained credibility in evolutionary biology. The present article seeks to identify originating events and contingencies contributing to such inflexible but adaptive behavior at both phylogenic and ontogenic levels of selection. The Impact Of Art Therapy On Empathy Development In Thai Adolescents, Baitoey Charoenpitaya

This qualitative research aimed to explore how the embodied mandala method, grounded in the Embodiment–Projection–Role (EPR) framework and the concept of the mandala as a dramatic structure of the mind, can support the development of empathy in Thai adolescents. The study involved ten participants aged 13–15 who engaged in expressive arts activities across six sessions. Data were collected through structured written interviews, reflection notes, and artwork, and analyzed thematically. Two key themes emerged: (1) Emotional Echoes: Knowing Through Feeling (affective empathy), and (2) Beyond Distance: Bridging Self and Other (cognitive and affective empathy).
