“I Saw Nothing But Beauty”: Exploring The Zaynab Paradigm In Iranian Aesthetics Of Protest, Kasper Tromp

This article explores an Iranian aesthetics of protest that, alternative to intervening in the public space as political agent, confers a spiritual agency that aids in recovering a sense of humanity while dehumanizing laws are upheld. The artistic practices under scrutiny occur between rather than during moments of protest and offer more reflective, metaphorical accounts of the injustices of authoritarian rule. Following the publication of the article on the synthaxonomic study of the Dreat forest, the aim of this inventory of the Dreat forest’s flora (semi-arid zone in central Algeria) to allow us a quantitative analysis on the basis of biogeographic parameters such as specific richness, geography of distribution, endemism and rarity. A subjective sampling was carried out between 2018 and 2021 at the level of the various formations (forest, matorral, altitude grasslands, and steppe). This analysis showed considerable species richness, estimated at around 468 taxa belonging to 278 genera and 66 families. Therophytes dominate the other living forms, according to …

The study focuses on the the experimental test of reforestation with Maesopsis eminii and Millettia drastica in the eco-climatic conditions of Kinshasa, with the aim of assessing the development and growth of the species through germination, and their behaviour in relation to the soil in the conditions of Kinshasa, with a view to proposing advice for responsible afforestation and reforestation. The results show that both species tend to reduce soil acidity. After cultivation, the pHs were 4.49 and 4.69 respectively for soils 1 and 2, compared with 3.98 for soil 0. Proteoglycans through their sulfated glycosaminoglycans regulate cell-matrix signaling during tissue development, regeneration, and degeneration processes. Large extracellular proteoglycans such as aggrecan, versican, and perlecan are especially important for the structural integrity of the intervertebral disc and cartilage during development. In these tissues, proteoglycans are responsible for hydration, joint flexibility, and the absorption of mechanical loads. Loss or reduction of these molecules can lead to disc degeneration and skeletal dysplasia, evident from loss of disc height or defects in skeletal development respectively. The marine cyanobacterium Synechococcus sp. CCMP 1334 was grown in a continuous culture system on a 12:12 h light:dark cycle at all combinations of low and high pCO2 (400 and 1000 ppmv, respectively), nitrate availability (nitrate-limited and nutrient-replete conditions), and temperatures of 21°C, 24°C, 28°C, 32°C, and 35°C. The maximum median nutrient-replete growth rate was ~1.15 d−1 at 32 –35°C. Median growth rates at 1000 ppmv pCO2 were higher than those at 400 ppmv at all temperatures, but most of the differences were statistically insignificant. Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is one of the most aggressive forms of breast cancer, and disproportionately affects African American women. TNBC cells lack the common hormone receptors that many pre-existing cancer treatments target. Fortunately, metal-based complexes with thiosemicarbazone ligands have gained significant attention for their potential as anti-cancer agents. Cobalt(III) complex ([Co(phen)2(MeATSC)](NO3)3•1.5H2O•C2H5OH]) and Copper(II) complex ([Cu(acetylethTSC)Cl]Cl•0.25C2H5OH) specifically have properties of high toxicity, which can contribute to decreased cancer cell activity. African-American pastors are seeking culturally competent mental health/addiction (MH/A) professionals who understand the Black Church theology as well as the intersectionality between their African-American clients and their Christian beliefs. Preliminary findings suggested that African-American pastors want mental health and addiction professionals to be culturally competent as well as culturally sensitive to provide parishioners with more holistic and faith-based interventions. An underestimation of individuals’ abilities is sometimes fostered by biological definitions of human development that align competence with physical changes in the brain (Blakemore, 2012). Recently, case studies have been published regarding the application of mycobacteriophage (MP) therapy (MPT) in patients with multi-antibiotic-resistant infections. A major limitation in the development of MPT is the paucity of therapeutically useful MP. As there are approximately 10,000 MP that have yet to be sequenced, it is possible that characterization of this cohort would increase the repertoire of useful MP. This study aims to contribute to such a strategy, by characterizing a cohort of 7 mycobacteriophages. The Impact Of Kangaroo Care On The Weight Gain Of Premature Infants, Heather Vincequere

SACAD: Scholarly Activities

Premature birth remains a global health concern, affecting approximately 15 million infants annually (WHO, 2023). Kangaroo Care (KC), involving skin-to-skin contact between caregivers and infants, was developed as a promising intervention to mitigate the adverse effects of prematurity. This study aimed to investigate the impact of KC on weight gain among preterm infants in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Doctors Hospital of Augusta (DHOA). A quasi-experimental quantitative posttest-only design was employed, with eight preterm infants (< 37 weeks gestation) participating in KC for at least 30 minutes daily. Daily weight measurements were collected over a four-week period and compared to the expected weight gain for infants receiving traditional incubator care. Results revealed a statistically significant increase in weight gain among infants receiving KC compared to the historical average for infants in traditional incubator care (t (7) = 2.443, p = 0.022). A large effect size (Cohen's d = 0.864) further supported the significance of these findings. Despite limitations such as a small sample size and convenience sampling, this study emphasizes that KC enhances weight gain in preterm infants, thus improving overall health outcomes. Implementation of KC requires ongoing support from nurse leaders to ensure proper education and successful integration into routine care practices. Nonetheless, continued research with larger samples and improved randomization is warranted to fully understand the long-term benefits of KC in neonatal care settings.

Tourette Syndrome (TS) is a neurological condition that has physically and psychologically affected individuals afflicted with this condition. Their health situation has an impact on their families’ lives. In this case study, we aimed to examine the various experiences of the family members of the individuals with TS. Informed by the postulations of Ramanathan (2010) and Rivera-Navarro et al. (2014), we interviewed parents and siblings of individuals diagnosed with TS. The objective of this study is to delve into the epistemological convictions of secondary school science teachers in Malang across various tenures, namely senior teachers, junior teachers, and pre-service teachers. Employing an explanatory sequential design model, the research employs a mixed-method approach. Quantitative data, gathered through the administration of the Scientific Epistemology Beliefs Questionnaire (n = 30), are complemented by qualitative insights drawn from interviews with teachers (n = 6) concerning their epistemological orientations. TGF-β1 and TGF-βR1 play important roles in immune and inflammatory responses. Genetic variants of TGF-β1 rs1800470 and TGF-βR1 rs334348 have emerged as potentially prognostic biomarkers for HPV-related head and neck cancer, while their prognostic effect on survival of smoking-related head and neck cancer remains unknown. This study included 1403 patients with smoking-related head and neck cancer, and all these patients were genotyped for TGF-β1 rs1800470 and TGF-βR1 rs334348. This paper argues that social networks do not always produce monolithically beneficial impacts on performance (e.g., high productivity). This is to say that their influence is not always predictable and advantageous, as that influence is conditioned by status and context. Even performance in places of science such as research universities is not exempt from this contingent nature of network effects. Achieving an optimal therapeutic level is crucial in effectively eradicating cancer cells during treatment. However, conventional chemotherapy-associated systemic administration of anticancer agents leads to many side effects. To achieve the desired control over the target site, active targeting of HER2-positive breast cancer cells can be achieved by conjugating liposomal vesicles with Human Epidermal growth factor Receptor 2 (HER2) and inducing release of the encapsulated drug using ultrasound. Geographical location is an important factor affecting the production of the volatile compounds and corresponding bioactivity of essential oil (EO). The aim of this study was to determine whether the bioactivity of Wedelia trilobata EO varies by geographical location and identify the key volatile compounds involved in bioactivity. A total of 95 volatile compounds reported in W. trilobata EOs obtained from Brazil, India, Malaysia and Thailand were retrieved from the literature, and changes and key differential volatile compounds were identified with univariate and multivariate methods. Myeloid derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) are key regulators of immune responses and correlate with poor outcomes in hematologic malignancies. Here, we identify that MDSC mitochondrial fitness controls the efficacy of doxorubicin chemotherapy in a preclinical lymphoma model. Mechanistically, we show that triggering STAT3 signaling via β2-adrenergic receptor (β2-AR) activation leads to improved MDSC function through metabolic reprogram- ing, marked by sustained mitochondrial respiration and higher ATP generation which reduces AMPK signaling, altering energy metabolism. Furthermore, induced STAT3 signaling in MDSCs enhances glutamine consumption via the TCA cycle. In situ injectable hydrogels are effectively employed to fill irregular cavitary bone defects with initiating bone growth in targeted areas. Herein, an injectable composited hydrogel composed of collagen and alginate cross-linked in situ using different concentrations of calcium sulfate (0.15, 0.3 and 0.6%, wt./v) was synthesized. Recently, CaSO4 is frequently supported as a bone graft material for bone regeneration, owing to its biocompatibility and osteoconductive properties. Moreover, hydroxyapatite (Hap) after salinization-step by (3-Aminopropyl) triethoxysilane (APTES) was incorporated for further enhancing the osteoconductive property of injected hydrogels.
