Ayyubid And Mamluk Pottery From A Crusader-Period Subterranean Reservoir At Moẓa (Pp. 193–204), Benjamin J. Dolinka

Excavations in the underground Crusader water reservoir at Moẓa yielded a ceramic assemblage dating primarily to the Ayyubid period (1187–1250 CE), as well as some later Mamluk sherds (fourteenth to fifteenth centuries CE). The assemblage includes bowls, cooking pots, frying pans, amphorae, store jars, jugs, a juglet, a flask and lamps. The ceramic assemblage has strong affinities with contemporaneous Crusader and Frankish sites from the rural hinterland of Jerusalem. Other vessels of a later, Late Ottoman or British Mandate date were associated with an intrusive burial.

OBJECTIVES: Recent studies have challenged the assumption that families are invariable sources of support for cancer caregivers, noting that relationships with family members can have both positive and negative effects on caregiver well-being. This study expands upon prior literature to examine the relationship between cancer caregivers' perceptions of the quality of their family interactions and their symptoms of anxiety.

METHODS: We employed secondary analysis of baseline data from a multisite randomized clinical trial of an intervention for cancer caregivers conducted at 3 large academic palliative care clinics. What are contemporary views on spiritual and theological reflection? We answer this question using a hermeneutical research method analyzing 32 texts from the current situation. The data indicate five themes: 1) experiences as sources for spiritual/theological reflection, 2) meaning making as key component for spiritual/theological reflection, 3) growth in spiritual reflection and overlap with theological reflection, 4. some flexible methods; many without explicit method, and 5) spiritual but not religious. Discussion, limitations, and areas for future research are provided.

Objectives People with life-limiting diseases, who are no longer receiving active or curable treatment, often state their preferred place of care and death as the home. This requires coordinating a multidisciplinary approach, using available health and social care services to synchronize care. The Muristan is located in the heart of the Christian quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem. During the twelfth century CE the area was given to the Hospitaller Order of St. John, and it included the following major buildings: a hospital, ecclesiastical buildings and various large secular buildings. During excavations at the site, remains pertaining to these architectural units were discovered, including massive piers and ashlars, displaying typical Crusader diagonal tool marks, and stones bearing mason's marks. On November 8, 1994 Oregon became the first state in the nation to pass legislation allowing terminally ill patients to end their own lives with the assistance of a physician. Ballot Measure 16, the Death with Dignity Act, removes criminal penalties for assisting a terminally ill suicide, but does not allow lethal injection. In August 1995, U.S. District Judge Michael Hogan ruled the Death with Dignity Act violates the equal protection clause ofthe 14th Amendment. The ruling is being appealed. This paper investigates electoral voting patterns regarding Measure 16 in the 36 Oregon counties. It explores the relationships between votes …
