Background: Multidrug-resistant (MDR) gram-negative infections are a substantial threat to patients and public health. Imipenem-cilastatin-relebactam (IMI/REL) is a β-lactam/β-lactamase inhibitor with expanded activity against MDR Pseudomonas aeruginosa and carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales. This study aims to describe the patient characteristics, prescribing patterns, and clinical outcomes associated with IMI/REL. Methods: This was a retrospective, multicenter, observational study of patients ≥18 years old who received IMI/REL for ≥48 hours for a suspected or confirmed gram-negative infection. The primary outcome was clinical success, defined as improvement or resolution of infection-related signs or symptoms while receiving IMI/REL and the absence of 30-day microbiologic failure. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to gain deeper understanding of the experiences of occupational therapists and physiotherapists, working with those with atypical Parkinson’s conditions, within the UK. A literature review identified that research into these roles is limited and unrepresentative. Materials and methods: A qualitative approach, informed by hermeneutic phenomenology was used to guide the study design. Semi-structured, online interviews, focussed on therapists’ experiences of success and challenge, were completed with six physiotherapists, and three occupational therapists, experienced in working within this area of practice. Background: Patients with advanced cancers visit the emergency room and get hospitalised frequently, with potentially half of these visits being avoidable. Our institution provides comprehensive, low-cost cancer treatment to a safety-net population in Texas. We performed a retrospective review of hospital readmission patterns amongst our oncology patients and developed a posthospitalisation workflow to reduce readmissions.

Method: Following discharge, oncology patients were risk stratified based on their Length of stay, Acuity of admission, Charlson comorbidity index score and Emergency department visits+index in the past 6 months. The annual burden of high blood pressure in the United States is approximately 131 million dollars, accounting for health care services and medication expenses. This educational project was initiated because the metric for the patient population at the veterans’ outpatient clinic exceeded the national hypertension indicator of 140/90. In practice, social workers are expected to translate cultural competency skills and knowledge they have acquired to handle diverse clients whose gender, racial, ethnic, religious, and personal beliefs and orientations can conflict. Using a qualitative research approach, the study addressed perceptions and roles of cultural competence in social work practice. Three research questions guided the study. Background: Nivolumab plus ipilimumab (nivo/ipi) is a standard of care first-line (1 L) therapy for patients with metastatic clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), but its role in patients with metastatic, non-ccRCC has not been fully defined. We report a single-institution experience with nivo/ipi in non-ccRCC.

Methods: Between November 2017 and February 2024, 55 patients with metastatic non-ccRCC received nivo/ipi at MD Anderson Cancer Center. The tumor response was assessed by blinded radiologists using RECIST v1.1. The overall response rate (ORR), progression-free survival (PFS), PFS milestone, duration of response (DoR), and overall survival (OS) were determined. Adding Video Teaching To The Standard Of: Oral And Written Discharge Instructions, Pamela Austill Harris

Adding video education to a patient’s discharge instructions on a rehabilitation unit of a skilled nursing facility (SNF) is researched for its use in decreasing the 31-day readmission rate from the community back to the hospital or SNF. A quasi-experimental method was used. There was a mean of 6 readmissions per month before the video intervention and during it was 0.6. Adding video education may be useful in an SNF to decrease the readmission rate from the community back to the hospital after discharge.

Background: Neuregulin 1 (NRG1) fusions are recurrent oncogenic drivers found in multiple solid tumors. NRG1 binds to human epidermal growth factor receptor 3 (HER3), leading to heterodimerization with HER2 and activation of downstream growth and proliferation pathways. The efficacy and safety of zenocutuzumab, a bispecific antibody against HER2 and HER3, in patients with NRG1 fusion-positive solid tumors are unclear.

BACKGROUND: Open fracture wounds are associated with a high risk of infection, though the outcomes are dependent on the fracture location, prophylactic antibiotics utilized, and time to antibiotic intervention. Although several institutions have provided guidelines for appropriate prophylaxis in open fractures, there is currently no consensus on antibiotic selection and duration. Osteogenesis imperfecta is a genetic condition with improperly or inadequately produced Type I collagen. Manifestations include bowing deformities, fractures, hydrocephalus, respiratory insufficiency, and feeding difficulty. Moderate or severe OI is often diagnosed prenatally based on ultrasound findings and genetic testing may be labeled as lethal. Here, we present 18 infants with moderate to severely presenting OI who received neonatal care at a single center over a 5 yr period, 10 of which were delivered at our institution. Objective: To develop and implement a portfolio of electronic triggers (e-triggers) and examine their performance for identifying missed opportunities in diagnosis (MODs) in emergency departments (EDs).

Design, setting, and participants: In this retrospective medical record review study of ED visits at 1321 Veterans Affairs health care sites, rules-based e-triggers were developed and implemented using a national electronic health record repository. These e-triggers targeted 6 high-risk presentations for MODs in treat-and-release ED visits. Teaching and Supervision in Counseling

Counselors working in a wide variety of settings should be competent in providing grief counseling. The current CACREP (2024) standards include grief education under lifespan development, but grief education can be woven throughout all eight domains of the foundational counseling curriculum. This article explains the foundational grief counseling concepts of attachment theory, the dual process model of grief, meaning-making theory, and adaptive grieving styles. Included in this article are suggestions for infusing these foundational grief counseling concepts into each of the eight CACREP foundational counseling curriculum areas.
