Fictionalization Of Louise Bourgeois, Marie Claude Hubert Jun 2026

Fictionalization Of Louise Bourgeois, Marie Claude Hubert

SOROUD: The journal of Literacy Criticism

The artist Louise Bourgeois is best known for her large-scale sculptures and installations. Throughout her career, she has accompanied her works with numerous autobiographical texts. The aim of this article is to analyse the fictionalisation that Louise Bourgeois has produced, even though her work already contains a significant part of her autobiography. What can an autobiographical book say about the artist’s life when it seems that she has told everything? An examination of these fictions will reveal the richness and hybridity of this literary genre.

Pierre Michon’S Corps Du Roi: Pagan Hagiographies, Michelle Vázquez Soriano Jun 2026

Pierre Michon’S Corps Du Roi: Pagan Hagiographies, Michelle Vázquez Soriano

SOROUD: The journal of Literacy Criticism

Literary criticism in France experienced a new boom with the publication of Sur Racine (1963) by Roland Barthes. This author was recognized as the initiator of a new form of criticism, transforming the literary essay into a unique genre. We read in Roland Barthes by Roland Barthes (1975): “the essay is almost a novel: a novel without proper names”. In 2002, Pierre Michon published Corps du roi, a set of five essays in which he wrote the biography of writers such as Samuel Beckett, Gustave Flaubert and William Faulkner, among others. The path had been traced by Roland Barthes, it …

Key Issues In Samuel Taylor Coleridge’S Biographia Literaria, Khalid Lahlou

SOROUD: The journal of Literacy Criticism

The paper presents some key issues put forward in Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s Biographia Literaria (1817). The paper also aims to show, and review, the extent to which the Biographia echoes Coleridge’s intent relative to such topics as poetry, literary criticism and philosophy. Likewise, the paper briefly illuminates some narrative techniques that Coleridge has called for while composing the different chapters constituting the oeuvre.

George Sand, Writing About The Self While Travelling, Ana Fernandes

SOROUD: The journal of Literacy Criticism

George Sand’s travelogue published in 1841 under the title Un hiver à Majorque is now a classic of travel literature. The reader’s interest is often focused on the use of the report as a source of biographical information - not so much about the trip to Majorca as about the author’s love affair with Chopin. The present article focuses on Un hiver à Majorque as a structure of literary works, which is to be analysed with regard to the author’s treatment of the literary conventions of the French travelogue in the nineteenth century. We begin by summarising the status and …

Life Writing Knowledge And Narrative Medicine : Creating The Transnational Self, Alfred Hornung Jun 2026

Life Writing Knowledge And Narrative Medicine : Creating The Transnational Self, Alfred Hornung

SOROUD: The journal of Literacy Criticism

Poetry and narration are among the most distinctive expressions of lifewriting. Poetic and narrative representations of the self, often associated with discrimination and disease, have got a psychotherapeutic effect. Ideally, collaborating agents in life- writing and narrative would produce a kind of societal knowledge with a global dimension, transcending the individual selfawareness, creating thus a framework for a would-be social integration. This paper is concerned with Audre Lorde’s poetic and narrative report on breast cancer, preceding her years in Berlin as a visiting professor in the 1980s, when her own experience as a “black lesbian poet or feminist lover” testified …

Autobiographical Characteristics In Khatibi’S ‘Tattooed Memory’, Mourad El Khatibi Jun 2026

Autobiographical Characteristics In Khatibi’S ‘Tattooed Memory’, Mourad El Khatibi

SOROUD: The journal of Literacy Criticism

The study discusses the main autobiographical characteristics of Abdelkébir Khatibi’s “Tattooed Memory” (1971). This novel is Khatibi’s first literary work and it is regarded by the critics as a postcolonial novel because it tackles issues such as identity, culture and language from a postcolonial perspective. Therefore, this literary work aims at proposing some answers to some questions such as the meanings of the Self and the Other within postcolonial theory and the different manifestations of both the Self and the Other. This article did not deal with this literary work as a postcolonial novel but as an autobiographical narrative. So, …

Providing treatment interventions to clients with chronic pain is a complex task for any professional. Research suggests that clients with chronic pain experience declines in physical, emotional, and psychological quality of life. Client’s that have chronic pain have complex effects from dealing with this condition in their lives. Clients with chronic pain (i.e., pain lasting > three months) process pain through the emotional and reward circuitry in the brain which is different than client with acute pain. The literature base provides evidence that clients with chronic pain who receive psychologically based interventions along with physical rehabilitation have better outcomes than individuals …

Value-Chain Factors Influencing Production Volume And Gross Margin: Evidence From A Thai Dairy Processing Firm, Jiranij Jareonsawat, Aqeel Raza, Kittisak Ajariyakhajorn, Davids Makararpong, Henk Hogeveen, Chainarong Paoin, Nampueng Mesprasat, Chaidate Inchaisri Jun 2026

Value-Chain Factors Influencing Production Volume And Gross Margin: Evidence From A Thai Dairy Processing Firm, Jiranij Jareonsawat, Aqeel Raza, Kittisak Ajariyakhajorn, Davids Makararpong, Henk Hogeveen, Chainarong Paoin, Nampueng Mesprasat, Chaidate Inchaisri

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

The dairy industry is vital for food security and economic stability, particularly in developing markets such as Thailand. Understanding factors related to production volume and gross margin in dairy processing firms can help inform performance and profitability considerations. Based on Porter’s value chain framework and a perception-based survey approach, this study used document reviews, in-depth interviews with 14 key informants, and an employee perception survey (n = 21) covering 74 relevant factors. Results indicated significant differences across ten activity categories for both production volume (Χ2 = 53.59, df = 9, P < 0.001) and gross margin (Χ2 = 26.89, df = 9, P < 0.001). For production volume, research and development (3.96 ± 0.66), human resources management (3.93 ± 0.63), and external factors (3.82 ± 0.82) had the highest mean perceived importance scores. For gross margin, external factors recorded the highest mean score (3.96 ± 0.81). At the factor level, the Thai government-regulated raw milk price was classified as the most important factor associated with production volume, while fuel prices were the most important factor related to gross margin. Both factors had the highest proportion of “High” and “Very High” responses (90.5%). These findings highlight the importance of aligning internal activities with external conditions within an institutional and policy context. This study provides insights into how institutional and policy constraints shape the way firm-level activities and external conditions are perceived and prioritized, and how these perceptions relate to performance in dairy processing firms in Thailand.

Accounting And Economic System Classification: An Adverse Effect Of The Misconceptualization Of Capital, Henry Zeno Chalu Jun 2026

Accounting And Economic System Classification: An Adverse Effect Of The Misconceptualization Of Capital, Henry Zeno Chalu

Business Management Review

This paper discusses the influence of accounting on economic system classification. Particularly, it traces how a misconception of the accounting term ‘capital’ led to a misleading characterization of capitalism and socialism as inherently oppositional economic systems. This misunderstanding stems from neglect of the two complementary modes of thought on which accounting as a science rests: reasoning, which is the conceptual, idealistic dimension, and proving, which is the technical, physicalist dimension. Both modes are integral to the construction of most of the accounting terms used in economics. If an accounting conceptualization had been followed, capitalism and socialism would not …

Optimal Design And Techno-Economic And Environmental Analysis Of A Hybrid Solar Pv-Battery-Generator System For Off-Grid Telecom Towers And Rural Households: Case Of Misughaa Village In Tanzania, Ibrahim Mwammenywa, Martha Mwaikenda

Tanzania Journal of Engineering and Technology (TJET)

Telecommunication services are pivotal for the socio-economic development of communities, regions, and countries. Extensive and reliable telecom infrastructure enables populations to leverage development opportunities and bridge the urban-rural divide. However, extending these services to rural areas often necessitates the deployment of telecommunication towers in locations lacking national grid access. Consequently, service providers typically rely on diesel generators (DG) for power, which introduces significant challenges. These challenges include a high operational expenditure (OPEX), rendering telecom services unaffordable for rural communities, and substantial environmental pollution from greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This study aims to present an optimal design, encompassing sizing and economic …

School of Biological and Marine Sciences

Coastal and estuarine ecosystems are vital as essential fish habitat (EFH). Given accelerating climate- and human-driven environmental change, conserving these habitats is increasingly urgent to ensure the sustainability of marine populations and their associated fisheries. This paper examines how scientific knowledge is being used to support management of EFH in the USA, Europe, and elsewhere. We find that while scientific knowledge to identify and quantify important habitats has rapidly increased, the transfer of this knowledge to management practice has been limited and slow, resulting in important habitats being vulnerable to degradation. Through an international review of EFH concepts and their …

Review And Development Of An Explicit Machine Learning Model For Pollutant Gas Solubility In Ionic Liquids As Green Solvents, Amir Dashti, Farid Amirkhani, Mojtaba Raji, John L. Zhou, Ali Altaee, Ali Braytee, Brett Turner, Hossein Ali Khonakdar, Amir Razmjou

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

The increasing release of greenhouse gases (GHGs) like CO₂, CH₄, N₂O, and industrial contaminants (indirect GHGs) such as SO₂ and H₂S has prompted significant global worries due to their role in climate change, air pollution, and harm to the environment. Ionic liquids (ILs) as green solvents have emerged as promising alternatives to traditional solvents because of their minimal volatility, high thermal stability, and adjustable physicochemical characteristics. Yet, limited gas solubility data in ILs is hindering their applications in carbon capture and air pollution control. Machine learning (ML) is a powerful tool for modeling and simulating the solubility of polluting gases …

Department of Emergency Medicine Faculty Papers

BACKGROUND: Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) is an uncommon but increasingly recognized cause of acute coronary syndrome (ACS), particularly in young women without traditional cardiovascular risk factors. Although SCAD frequently presents as myocardial infarction, life-threatening arrhythmic complications such as cardiac arrest remain rare and may complicate timely diagnosis and management. Pregnancy-associated SCAD is associated with increased clinical severity and a higher risk of complications. This case is notable for the occurrence of ventricular fibrillation arrest, as well as the coexistence of SCAD with features of stress-induced cardiomyopathy.

CASE PRESENTATION: A 33-year-old African American female, 9 days postpartum following an uncomplicated …

From Pathology To Ecology: Rethinking Student Well-Being Through Consciousness-Centered Education, Molly Beauregard Jun 2026

From Pathology To Ecology: Rethinking Student Well-Being Through Consciousness-Centered Education, Molly Beauregard

Journal of Conscious Evolution

This article revisits a five-year mixed-methods study conducted from 2012 to 2018, involving 207 student participants (n = 207), of an undergraduate sociology course—Consciousness, Creativity, and Identity—that integrated group meditation and mindfulness into a standard curriculum. Earlier analyses interpreted positive outcomes primarily as reductions in stress and improvements in attention among students. This paper reconsiders that interpretation, arguing that such a framing risks locating dysfunction within students rather than the social and cultural environments they inhabit.

Drawing on an ecological perspective, the study reexamines survey, reflection, and interview data documenting changes, not only in affect and attention, …
