Neutrosophic Systems with Applications
The Metaverse has the potential to revolutionize various aspects of human life, including transportation systems. The integration of the Metaverse into intelligent transportation systems has the potential to significantly improve traffic safety in smart cities. By creating a virtual replica of the physical world, the Metaverse can provide a platform for testing new traffic management systems, road designs, and vehicle technologies in a controlled and safe environment before implementing them in the real world. One way to integrate the Metaverse into intelligent transportation systems (ITS) is by enhancing traffic safety. This can be achieved by developing an evaluation model that …

Get Skilled, Get A Job, Give Us More: An Early Review Of G3, Melissa R. Colangelo, Melanie Graham, Bhavika Sicka
Get Skilled, Get A Job, Give Us More: An Early Review Of G3, Melissa R. Colangelo, Melanie Graham, Bhavika Sicka
Inquiry: The Journal of the Virginia Community Colleges
If community colleges are to remain relevant, they must be future-oriented, and responsive to demographic and labor force shifts. The Get Skilled, Get a Job, Give Back initiative (G3) was implemented during the 2021-22 academic year to retain economically disadvantaged students, improve community college completion, and help students graduate into productive jobs with the ultimate goal of boosting Virginia’s economy. G3 is an attempt to make postsecondary education and workforce development systems in Virginia more capable and successful in preparing Virginians for available jobs. The aim of this policy review is to examine the current details of the …
Chapter 04: Cultural Sensitivity, Inclusion, And Social Presence In Instructional Message Design, Cheryl Cook-Posley
Chapter 04: Cultural Sensitivity, Inclusion, And Social Presence In Instructional Message Design, Cheryl Cook-Posley
Instructional Message Design, Volume 3
It is critical for Instructional Designers (IDs) and Human Performance Technologists (HPTs) to consider the backgrounds of the learner to help them plan, develop, and design relevant and appropriate content for the audience of focus. The interests, assets, and needs of the learner must be researched and studied so the designer is able to fully know, empathize, understand, and design. Applying an audience centric approach equips designers to design culturally inclusive and sensitive instructional messages, as well as content that aligns with, are responsive to, and are respectful of diverse groups. In this way, IDs and HPTs can be able …

Too Young To Suspend: Ending Early Grade School Exclusion By Applying Lessons From The Fight To Increase The Minimum Age Of Juvenile Court Jurisdiction, Peggy Nicholson
Too Young To Suspend: Ending Early Grade School Exclusion By Applying Lessons From The Fight To Increase The Minimum Age Of Juvenile Court Jurisdiction, Peggy Nicholson
Belmont Law Review
In many respects, the evolution of juvenile court reform and school discipline reform follow similar trajectories. This Article begins by tracking those respective evolutions. Part I outlines the evolution of the juvenile court system in the United States and focuses on the fledgling system’s distinction of children from adults and its “rehabilitative ideal” that children could outgrow challenging behavior if given the right treatment and services. After a long period of “adultification” of the juvenile court in response to rising crime rates, more recent reform efforts have focused on returning to the early court’s rehabilitative model, including policies that would …

An Analysis Of The Feasibility Of An Overdose Prevention Center In The City Of Worcester, Adam Cohen, Pieter Vanderbrug, Gus Hoy, Blake Leasure
School of Professional Studies
The opioid epidemic raging across the United States is causing overdose deaths to skyrocket, prompting policy-makers across all levels of government to embrace non-traditional and sometimes controversial means of combating the worsening crisis. Overdose prevention centers (OPCs) represent one such method rapidly gaining prominence. Only emerging in North America relatively recently, these centers offer clients a supervised environment where they can use pre-obtained drugs, spaces designed to mitigate the risk of fatal overdose and increase access to other health services. This study investigates both the capacity of OPCs to reduce opioid-related overdose deaths and their derivative impacts as well as …
A Case For Changing The Age Of Majority From 18 To 22 Years Of Age In Massachusetts, Gabriella M. Barbuto
A Case For Changing The Age Of Majority From 18 To 22 Years Of Age In Massachusetts, Gabriella M. Barbuto
Social Work Student Work
The age of majority is when a person is considered legally responsible and culpable for their actions (Cox et al., 2022). Since the advent of the legal system, there seems to be no consensus regarding the ideal age of majority. This is demonstrated by the age varying from state to state and nationally. In the United States, the age of majority has been as low as 14 years old. Until the 19th century, 14-year-olds could be processed in the adult justice system as well as sentenced to the death penalty. As of 2019, 38 of the 50 states, including North …

Unblocked Re-Imagining Incarceration By Restructuring The Cell Block, Carlee Castle
Interior Design Capstones
Prison cell blocks, often overlooked as monolithic structures of confinement, conceal a rich tapestry of complex social environments. This study delves into the interplay between the architectural and interior design of cell blocks and the individuals who reside within them, highlighting the profound impact of built elements on the promotion of privacy, independence, and collaboration among cellmates.
Incarceration, by its nature, places inmates in close proximity, fostering interactions that range from cooperation to conflict. However, the prison environment is not equivalent in different countries, and the layout of cell blocks varies widely. By examining these variations, it becomes evident that …

The Legality Of Second Chances: Employment For The Formerly Incarcerated, Ella Paligo
The Legality Of Second Chances: Employment For The Formerly Incarcerated, Ella Paligo
Brigham Young University Prelaw Review
The United States has one of the highest incarceration and recidivism rates globally. This is largely attributed to the fact that a large number of employers reserve the right to not hire those with a criminal record. To combat this, cities and states have enacted “Ban the Box” legislation which prohibits employers from inquiring about criminal history before the interview round. However, with this decision being left up to local and state officials, marginalized individuals are left open to employment discrimination. This paper explores how federal protection, like “Ban the Box” laws, must be implemented to avoid recidivism and reimprisonment.

Time For An Audible: Possible Solutions For Nil Collectives Seeking Tax-Exempt Status Following Irs Memo, Austin Siener
Missouri Law Review
The United States Supreme Court’s decision in NCAA v. Alston sent shockwaves throughout the world of college sports. The Court’s recognition of student athletes’ abilities to profit from their name, image, and likeness (“NIL”) revolutionized the landscape of collegiate athletics. Shortly thereafter, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (the “NCAA”) adopted its Interim NIL Policy, explicitly allowing opportunities for companies, entities, or individuals to pay student athletes for use of their NIL. Unsurprisingly, athletes capitalized on the opportunities immediately. For example, Hanna and Haley Cavinder, former women’s college basketball players with millions of followers on social media, completed an NIL deal …
Exploratory Multiple Regression Analysis Of Predictive Factors On Pediatric Concussion Recovery, Jaimeen Shah
Exploratory Multiple Regression Analysis Of Predictive Factors On Pediatric Concussion Recovery, Jaimeen Shah
Senior Theses
This study ultimately aimed to find how different extra-clinical factors correlate with different aspects of concussion recovery. This study evaluated 8 different independent variables and their correlation to 4 different dependent variables (that are composed of 11 sub-dependent variables). It was hypothesized that these predictive variables will have a statistically significant impact on somatic, psychological, and cognitive outcomes. Additionally, it was hypothesized that the majority of these predictive factors will have the largest statistically significant impact on cognitive outcomes and that time to biological sex, age, prior concussion history, and household income (in that respective order) would have the strongest …

Long-Range Analogizing After Bruen: How To Resolve The Circuit Split On The Federal Felon-In-Possession Ban, Sean Phillips
Fordham Law Review
In 2023, over the course of one week, two U.S. courts of appeals ruled on Second Amendment challenges to 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1), the federal statute prohibiting firearm possession for those convicted of felonies. Both courts applied the U.S. Supreme Court’s “history and tradition” test from New York State Rifle & Pistol Ass’n v. Bruen. In the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, criminal defendant Edell Jackson did not succeed. There, the court found that the nation’s history and tradition supported the validity of a law banning firearm possession by felons, regardless of the details of their …

Turning From A Hire Power: Employment Discrimination And Faulty Ninth Circuit Procedure, Matthew Swords
Missouri Law Review
You just applied for your dream job. As anticipation for a response amounts, you become overwhelmed with a sense of optimism. You know you are overqualified, yet a few days later, you receive notification that the employer is no longer considering you for the position. Despite meeting all requisite qualifications, you feel slighted. You wonder if another factor is at play. Conversely, imagine you actually get the job. You accept, and you work at the company for a few years only to one day have your boss inform you that your employer is terminating your employment. Again, you feel slighted. …
