Participatory, Project-Based Approach To Migrant Employment Research: Engaging Entrepreneurs Through Social Innovation, Sabina Kubiciel-Lodzińska, Jolanta Maj Oct 2025

Participatory, Project-Based Approach To Migrant Employment Research: Engaging Entrepreneurs Through Social Innovation, Sabina Kubiciel-Lodzińska, Jolanta Maj

The Qualitative Report

Qualitative research with entrepreneurs employing migrant workers poses significant challenges, particularly in recruiting respondents willing to discuss sensitive topics. This study explores an innovative method to overcome these barriers by engaging entrepreneurs through community-centered social initiatives. Specifically, we examine the "Opole Friendly Company for Migrants" project, a socially innovative competition conducted in the Opolskie Voivodeship from 2020 to 2024. The competition had two main goals. Firstly, it was aimed to foster participation in qualitative research by integrating respondents into a broader, socially meaningful context. The second goal was fostering community integration. The competition highlighted the role of entrepreneurs in supporting …

Previous studies have suggested that alterations in white matter (WM) microstructure are implicated in suicidal thoughts and behaviours (STBs). However, findings of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) studies have been inconsistent. In this large-scale mega-analysis conducted by the ENIGMA Suicidal Thoughts and Behaviours (ENIGMA-STB) consortium, we examined WM alterations associated with STBs. Data processing was standardised across sites, and resulting WM microstructure measures (fractional anisotropy (FA), axial diffusivity (AD), mean diffusivity and radial diffusivity) for 24 WM tracts and one global measure were pooled across 40 cohorts. We compared these measures among individuals with a psychiatric diagnosis and lifetime history of …

School of Nursing and Midwifery

Highlights: What are the main findings? Parents exhibited a clear understanding of the study’s aims and procedures and expressed confidence in its safety, whereas healthcare professionals displayed inconsistent awareness. Both parents and staff valued participation, highlighted emotional and logistical challenges in the neonatal unit environment, and offered practical suggestions to improve future neonatal research engagement. What are the implications of the main findings? Sustained, multi-directional communication is essential to maintain staff engagement and ensure consistent understanding across all research stakeholders. Embedding family-centred, emotionally supportive strategies—such as structured reflective tools and timely feedback—can enhance ethical recruitment, retention, and data quality in …

From Waste To Wall Finish: Developing And Characterizing Sustainable Concrete Finishes With High-Volume Fly Ash And Biochar For Interior Applications, Prajwal Dudhane

Theses

This study explores the creation of environmentally friendly interior concrete finishes by recycling agricultural and industrial waste. In a 1:3 cementitious-to-aggregate mortar mix, the study investigates high-volume (30%) cement replacement using fly ash (FA30), biochar (BC30), and a hybrid combination (FAB30). It illustrates the viability of converting waste streams into workable architectural finishes through meticulous material investigation, mechanical testing, and aesthetic evaluation. Different performance characteristics were found by the technical examination. FA30 outperformed the control mix with a 14-day compressive strength of 8.00 MPa thanks to pozzolanic activity and decreased water demand. On the other hand, BC30 (7.33 MPa) significantly …

Gamification And Collaborative Learning In Physical Geography: Teaching Geological History In Higher Education, Pablo Fraile-Jurado

The Geographical Bulletin

This paper evaluates the impact of a collaborative gamification approach designed to help university students better understand and retain abstract content in geological and climatic history. Inspired by the board game Timeline, the activity required students to physically organize themselves to represent a chronological sequence of key geological and climatic events. Conducted within a first-year physical geography course, the intervention was tested by comparing learning outcomes between an experimental group engaging in this gamified activity and a control group receiving traditional lecture-based instruction. Results show that students in the gamified group performed significantly better on assessments administered one week and …

The Future Of Nursing Leadership: Incorporating E-Learned Artificial Intelligence (Ai) Pathways With A Precautionary Focus Of Patient-Centered-Care, Jamie Anne Marcus Dr, Bonnette Villalba Webb

FDLA Journal

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a data-driven mathematical process that incorporates machine-based-logic, usually in the form of algorithms. Education, training, and competencies are now conducted through virtual reality, robotics, simulation, and technology learning-based-platforms by healthcare organizations. This represents a significant change in the future of nursing practice. The adaptability of technology-based-learning platforms can impact the quality and efficiency of learning for some of the workforce population. Nurses' perception of technology and AI-driven nursing practice may vary based on generational orientation and can be a potential barrier to learning, practicing, and adaptability of this framework. The forging of well-trained resilient nurse leaders …

Holistic Support For Online Learners: A Framework For Mental Health Integration, Charlotte A. Jones-Roberts

FDLA Journal

The mental health crisis among college students has been well-documented, with increasing rates of anxiety, depression, and other psychological distress. Online learners, in particular, face unique challenges related to social isolation, self-regulation, and access to mental health resources. Understanding mental health in the context of online education is critical due to the unique challenges posed by virtual learning environments (Saade et al., 2017; Kumari et al., 2021). This paper explores the importance of mental health support in higher education and proposes a three-level framework for integration: university-level, LMS-level, and course-level support. By addressing common concerns and utilizing a Universal Design …
