Despite significant advancement in cancer treatments, therapies with minimal toxicity to healthy cells are still limited. One targetable weakness of cancer cells is their sensitivity to oxidative stress. We find that the combination of two antioxidants—the common food additive tert-butylhydroquinone (tBHQ) and a manganese porphyrin in clinical trials, MnTnBuOE-2-PyP5+ (MnBuOE)—increases oxidative stress and causes apoptotic death in several cancer cell lines, but not in mouse primary fibroblasts. Investigating the mechanism of cell death, MnBuOE is observed to catalyze the oxidation of tBHQ, producing the electrophilic quinone tert-butylquinone (tBQ). Citrus canker, caused by bacterium Xanthomonas citri subsp. citri (Xcc), affects the citrus industry by making the fruit unmarketable due to unsightly lesions on the fruit. Citrus canker caused by a relatively new AWstrain of Xcc was reported on the citrus trees in the residential areas of the Lower Rio Grande Valley (LRGV) of South Texas. Xcc AW has a limited host range, predominantly affecting limes and a few other citrus species. Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a leading global cause of mortality, notably affecting postmenopausal women. Hormonal fluctuations during menopause contribute to dyslipidemia, fostering cardiovascular disease (CVD). This study explored lipid profiles among postmenopausal Pakistani women, focusing on the atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) and its association with CHD.

The data consisted of surveys from 265 women aged between 40–70 years. A STEP-wise approach, using a questionnaire from the World Health Organization, was employed for data collection. This quantitative cross-sectional study, guided by the socioecological model, examined links between AIP, age, lipid profiles, and hypertension. The AIP’s association with CHD was …

The purpose of this study was to determine how common Succinivibrionaceae bacteria are in calf feces. Four female calves, with an average age of 6.48 ± 0.51 months, participated in a Latin square trial featuring four dietary treatments: control (C), tannin (T), amino acid (AA), and a tannin-amino acid mixture (TM). Duration of each treatment was 14 days whereby faecal samples were that were harvested on day 14. This trial was therefore undertaken to investigate the effect of durian (dario zibethinus) seed extract supplementation on the growth performance, carcass yield and internal organ development in broilers under heat temperature. 5 treatment groups, including control group (P0) with no extract addition and 4 treatments (P1- P4), where the levels of durian seed extracts used were added into-drinking water at dose concentrations of Nil, 1.0 mL/L, 1.5 mL/L, 2.0 mL/L and 2.5ml/L respectively. In this study, GIS-based land suitability analysis is used to optimize the cultivation of forage for goat production in Limapuluh Kota Regency, West Sumatra. We assessed five important forages—cassava, Calliandra calothyrsus, Gliricidia sepium, Sesbania grandiflora, and Leucaena leucocephala—by incorporating a multi-criteria evaluation (including slope, soil characteristics, and climate conditions). Results show clear agroecological niches: cassava flourishes extensively, even on marginal lands, C. calothyrus and G. sepium need specific adaptations to soil and climate, Sesbania grandiflora excels as a high-protein choice in various zones, whereas Leucaena leucocephala requires strict geographic targeting. Therefore, processing methods such as the meltique technique are needed to tenderize buffalo meat. The aim of this study was to evaluate the tenderness and sensory characteristics of buffalo meltique meat injected with different types of fats (beef tallow, Wagyu fat, coconut oil, and palm oil) combined with papain enzyme. The stem's thiol protease qualifies as a vegetable rennet, which can be used as a milk coagulant to substitute animal-based rennet in cream cheese. Unfortunately, due to the diversity of previous findings, a clear response pattern has still to be determined. One of the major challenges in ruminant production in Indonesia is ensuring the availability of high-quality and adequate forage. Identifying forage varieties with good nutritive value that adapt well to local climate conditions is crucial. This study evaluated the nutrient composition, fiber fractions, and in vitro rumen fermentation of Mulato grass harvested at different cutting ages (30, 40, and 50 days) in the lowlands of West Java, Indonesia. This research aims to evaluate differences in soil nitrogen content, nitrogen absorption by plants, and forage production of Calopogonium mucunoides plants grown on andosol and ultisol soils during a 90-day planting period. The research method used was experimental, with treatment factors in the soil type (andosol and ultisol). The parameters observed included the soil’s moisture, temperature, pH, nitrogen content, and the plant’s nitrogen content and forage production. The results showed that Andosol's average soil moisture value (53.61%) was higher than Ultisol (43.68%). The soil temperature of Ultisol (24.34°C) tends to be higher than Andosol (23.36°C). The study examined the association between TLR1A gene polymorphism in exon 4 and the performance of Gray Sentul chickens. Conducted at the Jatiwangi Poultry Breeding Development Center. DNA from 30 males and 30 females was analyzed using PCR and sequencing to identify Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNPs). Data processing employed BioEdit and MEGA 11. Results revealed five mutations in males (g.775T>C, g.844 T>A, g.858C>T, g.983C>T, and g.1163G>A) and three in females (g.721G>A, g.983C>T and g.1163G>A). The purpose of this study was to determine the performance and repeatability values of S/C, DO, and CI in the South Garut Farmers Cooperative. Reproduction data used were individual reproduction records of 162 Friesian Holstein dairy cows. The results showed that the average reproductive performance for S/C for parity 1 was 2.20 ± 0.797, parity 2 was 2.40 ± 0.974, parity 3 was 2.28 ± 0.947, parity 4 was 2.22 ± 0.965, and the total value of S/C was 2.28 ± 0.921. Roselle calyx powder (RCP) can act as natural dietary additives in a concentrate. A completely randomized design was employed in this study to determine the impact of 6 different doses of RCP supplementation (0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.8, and 1.6%) in a rice straw-based diet using 6 replicates (n = 6) on in vitro dry matter degradability (IVDMD), in vitro organic matter degradability (IVOMD), pH, total gas production 8 hours (TGP8), total gas production 16 hours (TGP16), total gas production 24 hours (TGP24) and methane. The partnership scheme in broiler farming aims to enhance farmers' productivity and profitability through technical support, market access, and the provision of production inputs. However, variations in its implementation effectiveness significantly impact farmers' business success. This study examines the relationship between the level of partnership scheme implementation and the success of broiler farming businesses in Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan. Livestock waste is one of the factors that must be considered in livestock farming, as it can cause environmental pollution. Quail feces, a type of livestock waste, generally has a low carbon-to-nitrogen ratio, necessitating the supplementation of carbon source from rice straw. The research explored the use of boiled sunflower seed meal (BSSM) as sustainable feed alternative for broiler chickens, evaluating its impact on their growth and development thereby reducing the industry’s reliance on resource-intensive feed ingredients. One hundred and fifty unsexed Ross broiler chicks were used for the study.
