Al-Mustaqbal Journal of Pharmaceutical and Medical Sciences

Orally disintegrating films (ODFs) are a pharmaceutical dosage form that liquefies or disintegrates rapidly in the mouth without water, creating an attractive option for patients with difficulty swallowing. ODFs offer several advantages, including convenience, a faster onset of action, and enhanced patient compliance. The formulation of ODFs involves selecting suitable film-forming polymers, plasticizers, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), and other excipients. Factors such as taste-masking, stability, and disintegration time are critical considerations in formulating ODFs. Characterization of Orally Disintegrating Films Characterization techniques such as thickness measurement, tensile strength testing, disintegration time determination, and surface morphology analysis are essential for assessing the physical …

Healthy Mind, Healthy Body: An Examination Of The Duty A University Owes To Its Student-Athletes Regarding Mental Health Treatment, Sara Kirtley

Denver Sports & Entertainment Law Journal

With more and more university students in general, but studentathletes in particular, suffering from mental health issues, ranging from eating disorders to depression to serious anxiety, it seems like universities should have to provide some kind of mental health treatment for their student-athletes, especially considering their duty to provide physical health treatment for sports related injuries. However, the question is whether student-athletes would actually have an actionable right to mental health treatment, that they could turn into a successful claim against a university if the university failed to provide them with mental-health treatment.

A Guide For Applying Grounded Theory In Qualitative Research, Irja Shaanika, Tiko Iyamu Aug 2025

A Guide For Applying Grounded Theory In Qualitative Research, Irja Shaanika, Tiko Iyamu

African Conference on Information Systems and Technology

Grounded theory (GT) has been applied numerous times in qualitative research across disciplines. Yet, challenges remain in applying it. The challenges are attributed to its complexity, particularly because of its diversity as a research design and data collection method. Consequently, researchers, particularly emerging researchers and postgraduates, are drifting away from the theory. Primarily, the complexity arises from two fronts: (1) confusion, not being able to differentiate between its use as a design strategy and data collection technique, and (2) standardisation, a lack of understanding of when to stop in its iterative process. This study provides a structured, simplistic guide for …

Towards Age-Inclusive Human Computer Interaction: A Study Of Text Message Adoption By Seniors, Sam Takavarasha, Varaidzo Mapepa

African Conference on Information Systems and Technology

Since mobile phones are increasingly becoming livelihoods-enablers to people in developing economies, inclusive interaction design are critical. This research on the age inclusivity of feature phones was motivated by some observation that elderly users had challenges with adoption of text messaging. We, therefore, hypothesized that elderly people had challenges with texting ‘cash’, ‘cheque’ or ‘visa’ on a feature phone. The paper investigates if the required agility and interface ergonomics were age discriminatory inhibitors of the adoption of text messaging given the diminishing dexterity and cognitive skills of seniors. Using Sen’s (1999) ‘heterogeneity of capabilities’ theory and Davis et al (1989)’s …
