Correlation Between Prevalence Of Some Colibactin Genes, Biofilm Formation, And Antimicrobial Resistance In Uropathogenic E. Coli In Iraq, Rukiya Saad Jassam, Husam Sabah Auhim

Baghdad Science Journal

Colibactin is a genotoxin produced by Enterobacteriaceae via a polyketide synthase (pks) island cluster. There is less knowledge regarding the distribution of colibactin genes in E. coli isolates in Iraq and its correlation with biofilm and antibiotic susceptibility. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the frequency of some colibactin genes (CIbA and CIbQ) in uropathogenic E. coli in Iraq and evaluate the correlation with biofilm and antimicrobial resistance. Between October 2023 and January 2024, 70 E. coli isolates were isolated from 120 females diagnosed with UTIs. Isolates were identified first by biochemical methods and confirmed molecularly by amplification …

Characterization And Identification Of Some Indigenous Bacterial Strains For Heavy Metal Accumulation From Contaminated Soils, Aziza Usmonkulova, Gulchekhra Kadirova, Nosir Shukurov, Tulkin Shonakhunov, Samatov Nuriddin

Baghdad Science Journal

Numerous studies have reported elevated quantities of cadmium and nickel in soil, resulting in reduced plant growth, particularly in biomass, chlorophyll content, and photosynthetic traits due to their hazardous nature. Therefore, it is crucial to enhance plant resistance to heavy metal stress and reduce the toxicity of cadmium and nickel. In this study, several bacterial strains were isolated from heavy metal-contaminated soil to investigate their potential role in facilitating detrimental consequences of heavy metal stress. The capacity of the isolates to increase plant production under heavy metal stress and minimal inhibitory concentration was evaluated after the isolates were identified at …

Seamless Security: Reforming Export Controls For A Stronger Allied Defense Industrial Base, Justin Belcher

San Diego International Law Journal

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and China’s accelerating military modernization underscore the need for the United States and its allies to reinforce their defense industrial bases to deter and prevail in future conflicts. Beyond The Cisg: Utilizing Unidroit Principles To Synchronize International Contract Law Beyond Sales Of Goods, Noor Albandar

San Diego International Law Journal

Modern advancements have made it easier than ever for individuals and businesses to enter into cross-border transactions. Contract law in the United States employs legal instruments such as the UCC to aid contracting parties, and international law consists of tools such as the CISG supporting cross-border contracts for the sale of goods. Such tools are important because international transactions for goods occur frequently. This Comment will examine the complexities that arise in the face of international contracts, discuss tools for uniform law that are currently utilized by various governing bodies, and propose further implementation of uniform international contract law. Electric Pressure Cookers: What You Need To Know, Callahan Adams, Emily Smith

All Current Publications

Electric pressure cookers (EPCs) offer convenience, versatility, and efficiency in everyday cooking. EPCs offer multiple cooking functions beyond pressure cooking, including sautéing, slow cooking, steaming, cooking rice, and preparing yogurt. They are not suitable for pressure canning, as confirmed by multiple Extension research studies and national guidelines. When used properly, EPCs provide a safe and effective way to prepare meals quickly while saving counter and storage space.

An Examination Of Trends And Factors Influencing Teen Retention In 4-H Youth Development Program: A Case Study, Bethany R. Corona

LSU Master's Theses

Teen participation in 4-H has declined nationally in recent years, raising concerns about long-term program sustainability and youth engagement. Understanding the factors that influence teens’ decisions to remain involved in 4-H is critical for informing program design and delivery. Guided by the theory of planned behavior, this qualitative study explored teen perceptions of 4-H programming, youth voice, social influences, communication, and barriers to participation. Data were collected through two group interviews with teen 4-H members representing multiple parishes. Interviews were audio recorded, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed using the constant comparative method through a three-phase coding process consisting of open, axial, …

A Pre-Service Māori Educator's Perspective On Māori Influence On Education In New Zealand, Ashleigh Franco Feb 2026

A Pre-Service Māori Educator's Perspective On Māori Influence On Education In New Zealand, Ashleigh Franco

Journal of Indigenous Research

Māori students have historically performed below mainstream students in New Zealand (PISA 2018, 2019). This narrative inquiry spotlights Tahi, whose lived experiences reverberate issues facing the Māori curriculum – Te reo Māori – in New Zealand (Barr & Seals; 2018; Macfarlane, 2015; Manning; 2018; Ritchie, 2012 Stewart, 2016; Torepe et al., 2018). Additionally, Tahi's narrative underscores social and democratic issues of systemic injustice and white privilege, including the influence of both on education in New Zealand.

Preparando Para Su Edad Y Su Futuro: Latina Mothers’ Perspectives Of Navigating Postsecondary Transition For Autistic Youth, Kristina Rios Dr., Katherine R. Brendli Brown, Genna Kieper, Cynthia Velasquez, Amber Brown Ruiz Feb 2026

Preparando Para Su Edad Y Su Futuro: Latina Mothers’ Perspectives Of Navigating Postsecondary Transition For Autistic Youth, Kristina Rios Dr., Katherine R. Brendli Brown, Genna Kieper, Cynthia Velasquez, Amber Brown Ruiz

Developmental Disabilities Network Journal

Families play a critical role in the education and service provision of Autistic students. However, much of the existing research on family involvement and expectations has centered on families of younger Autistic children and has disproportionately reflected the experiences of White families, even though Latinx families may include individuals of any racial background. Furthermore, while there is growing transition literature focused on families of color, Latinx families—particularly those with Spanish-speaking caregivers—remain underrepresented in studies examining the postsecondary transition. There is a critical need for research that captures Latinx caregivers’ perspectives on navigating the transition process and identifies how educators can …

A Free Speech Dilemma: Ai Outputs And The Constitution, Mbilike M. Mwafulirwa Feb 2026

A Free Speech Dilemma: Ai Outputs And The Constitution, Mbilike M. Mwafulirwa

Akron Law Review

In the beginning was a word—then over time, a whole civilization was built on words. Speaking, thinking, and writing have always been inherent aspects of the human experience. Until now. Artificial intelligence machines have hi-jacked words. Through focused training on our words and knowledge, they too can now write, create, and express themselves just like we do. This, then, presents a profound constitutional question flagged by Justice Barrett in Moody v. NetChoice: if the U.S. Constitution protects human expression, does it also protect AI outputs?

This article addresses that question through the derivative principle: If you squeeze an orange into …
