Enhancing Workforce Development In Construction Management Through Collaborative Teaching (Co-Teaching) Models, John Annor, Francois Jacobs
Online Journal for Workforce Education and Development
This study evaluated the effectiveness of a collaborative co-teaching initiative implemented across three educational institutions—the University of State, Community College, and High School—through two key construction courses: Construction Materials and Methods and Construction Safety. Designed to bridge gaps across educational levels, the initiative adopted a mixed-methods research approach to assess student learning outcomes, instructional effectiveness, and stakeholder perceptions. Quantitative data were collected from standardized assessments, including quizzes, a safety plan project, and exams administered across multiple years. Analytical techniques such as Welch's two-sample t-tests and Welch ANOVA were employed to compare student performance between and within institutions, adjusting for unequal …

Using Fire Investigators' Narratives To Explore Serial Firesetting Behaviors, Alisha Jones-Creel
Using Fire Investigators' Narratives To Explore Serial Firesetting Behaviors, Alisha Jones-Creel
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
This qualitative narrative inquiry examined how fire investigators share tacit knowledge related to threat assessment and risk management in cases of serial firesetting. Data were derived from eight semi-structured interviews with fire investigators from Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas who had investigated firesetting incidents within the past five years. Narrative analysis was used to identify cross-case patterns in how investigators recognize offender characteristics, assess contextual risk factors, and detect early warning signs across incidents. Analysis identified three themes addressing how lived experience informs peer understanding of offender behavior, risk indicators, and warning signs, and three themes addressing how narrative experience guides …

Understanding The Lived Experiences Of Black Males Successfully Reintegrating Post Incarceration, Ashley Smith
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Black males remain incarcerated at higher rates than any other race. Those individuals trying to reintegrate into society face many challenges with little mental and emotional rehabilitation support. The purpose of this hermeneutic phenomenology study was to improve the understanding of what contributes to successful reintegration and the mental health and emotional needs of formerly incarcerated Black males. Critical race theory (CRT) was used as a secondary lens to examine how race, systemic racism, and structural inequities shaped participants' experiences. This study examined the following research question: What are the experiences of Black males who were previously incarcerated and have …
The Effect Of St. John’S Wort Solution On Climbing Activity Reflecting Depressive-Like Behavior In Drosophila Melanogaster To Model Seasonal Depression In Low Sunlight Exposure, Madison Simon
Journal of the South Carolina Academy of Science
Although depression is a known substantial threat to public health, seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is under-researched. SAD refers to recurrent seasonal patterns of depression. This depressive disorder has few accepted treatments. The purpose of this study was to test whether St. John’s Wort (SJW), a natural supplement with researched antidepressant properties, could be a cheaper alternative with fewer limitations for treating SAD. SJW’s efficacy as a seasonal depression inhibitor was tested through a Drosophila depression-like model using climbing activity to reflect depressive behavior. It was hypothesized that as the concentration of SJW solution increases, the climbing activity of stressed Drosophila …

China Maritime Report #51: The Seafarer Profession In Contemporary China, Conor M. Kennedy
CMSI China Maritime Reports
Main Findings
- China’s merchant marine is a foundational economic and national security asset, supporting the country’s multi-decade growth and modernization and military logistics. Thus, Beijing views seafarers as a strategic resource and has prioritized development initiatives to strengthen the quality and quantity of the nation’s professional merchant marine.
- China has a large potential labor supply of seafarers, with 943,954 registered for international and coastal shipping in 2023, but the actual number of seafarers actively working is far fewer. Over the past decade the sector has shifted from oversupply to emerging shortages due to COVID-19 disruptions, declining interest in maritime careers, …

Bay Staters Support Same Day Registration, Lower Taxes & Rent Control, Oppose Recreational Marijuana Repeal 2/24/2026, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
Massachusetts voters may be faced with several prominent ballot questions in the November general election, and Bay Staters are generally supportive of same-day voter registration, decreasing the state income tax, and establishing rent control, while a majority oppose repealing laws which legalized the use of marijuana. In the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, Ed Markey continues to lead Seth Moulton and both candidates hold comfortable leads over prospective Republican challenger John Deaton in the general election. Just over half of Bay Staters approve of Governor Maura Healey's job performance, but she holds large leads over prospective Republican challengers in November. …

All UNH Survey Center Polls
Graham Platner continues to hold a large lead over Maine governor Janet Mills in the race for the Democratic nomination for US Senate. Platner leads incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins in a general election matchup, while Collins and Mills are deadlocked. In the gubernatorial election, Democrat Nirav Shah and Republican Robert Charles lead their respective primaries, but many likely primary voters are undecided and many candidates are unknown to them. Maine's 2nd District will likely be close in the general election as Republican Paul LePage and several possible Democratic opponents are tied in general election matchups. The cost of living, …

All UNH Survey Center Polls
Incumbent Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont continues to hold a comfortable lead in his bid for the Democratic nomination in 2026, although approval of Lamont's performance as governor has slipped in recent months. However, bipartisan majorities support his proposals to ban cell phone use and provide free breakfast in Connecticut public schools, along with requiring parental permission for children to access social media platforms. The high cost of living is seen as the most important problem facing the state and just over half of state residents say it has been difficult to pay their home heating costs this winter, and a …

Foulkes Retains Lead In Ri Dem Gubernatorial Primary, Mckee Approval Falls To New Low 2/24/2026, Unh Survey Center
All UNH Survey Center Polls
Helena Foulkes remains the leader in the race for the Democratic nomination for Rhode Island governor, but a plurality of likely voters remain undecided. Neither the declared candidates nor possible late entrant and former Governor Gina Raimondo are particularly popular among likely Democratic primary voters, and very few want Raimondo to launch a new campaign for governor. On the Republican side, the declared candidates are not well-known among likely Republican primary voters, but there is strong interest in 2022 Republican nominee Ashley Kalus running again. Approval of Governor Dan McKee's performance as governor has fallen to an all-time low, but …
