Midad AL-Adab Refereed Quarterly Journal

The Structures Of Intra-National Class Divisions In Neoliberalism: The Women Of “Light” And “Dark” In The White Tiger, Sneha Madimi

Theses and Dissertations

Aravind Adiga’s novel, The White Tiger, represents gender hierarchies and the class struggle of India’s neoliberal present. Adiga uses elements of satire and allegory to teach us something about how women are differently positioned in the neoliberal system. David Harvey in A Brief History of Neoliberalism defines neoliberalism as “a theory of political economic practices that proposes that human well-being can best be advanced by liberating individual entrepreneurial freedoms and skills within an institutional framework characterized by strong private property rights, free markets, and free trade” (2). I will consider the novel, alongside Chandra Mohanty’s “Under Western Eyes” …

Method Of Intelligent Control Of The Process Of Rectification Of Multicomponent Mixtures, N R. Yusupbekov, Y Sh Avazov

Technical science and innovation

An intelligent method of controlling a rectification column, which implements the technological process of separation of multicomponent mixtures by rectification method, is proposed. The advantage of the method is that it uses an advanced process control system (APC-system) and a distributed control system at the same time. The proposed intellectual method of controlling the process of rectification of multicomponent mixtures for the application of APC-systems and a net model of situational control allows to increase the quality of the product coming from the rectification column, and the efficiency of the rectification of the mixture column, to increase the quality of …

Language Style Matching In Older Couples And Marital Satisfaction, Benjamin Burke, Amy Rauer Oct 2022

Language Style Matching In Older Couples And Marital Satisfaction, Benjamin Burke, Amy Rauer

Journal of Social, Behavioral, and Health Sciences

Research on marital communication has focused on nonverbal behaviors (e.g., affect), leaving specific word use relatively unexplored. Recent work, however, suggests that similarity in function words (e.g., articles) may be associated with relational functioning in younger couples. We explored if this language style matching (LSM) also occurred in more established relationships and whether it was related to marital satisfaction within a sample of 64 older adult married couples. Using a dyadic, two-wave, observational research design, our results suggest that LSM is highly prevalent in older couples’ conversations across three different tasks (reminiscence, problem solving, and health support). Only LSM during …

This study is providing an in-depth analysis of work to improve the assessment of semantic similarity between corpora in natural language in the context of ASAGS. Three popular semantic approaches are corpus- based, knowledge-based, and deep learning are used to evaluate against the conventional methods …
