Mono And Polymicrobial Biofilm Formation By Candida Species And Staphylococcus Aureus, Ghadeer Ali Saad, Mohammad Hashim Al-Yasiri
Muthanna Medical Journal
Polymicrobial biofilms, composed of fungi and bacteria such as Candida and Staphylococcus aureus, exhibit interactions dependent on environmental factors and organism type. The objective of this investigation was to evaluate the ability of S. aureus and Candida species to construct mono and polymicrobial biofilms. Candida species and S. aureus were isolated from various clinical sources. The identification of these isolates was based on morphological and biochemical characteristics as well as using Vitek 2 compact. Biofilm formation was evaluated using flat-bottom microtiter plate assay with crystal violet. A total of 41 S. aureus, 15 C. tropicalis, 14 C. …

Immune Thrombocytopenic Purpura Association With Epstein-Barr Virus, Amer Aldamouk, Bachr Masri, Ali Khan, Pulkita Uppal

Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), also referred to as idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura, is an acquired form of thrombocytopenia caused by antibodies directed against platelet glycoproteins, particularly anti-GpIIb/IIIa antibodies. Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), a herpes virus infecting a large majority of the population before adulthood, has been implicated in various immune-mediated disorders, including ITP. In this report, we present a case of a young adult female with a history of thrombocytopenia who was found to have severe thrombocytopenia attributed to chronic EBV infection. Despite initial treatment with corticosteroids and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), the patient's condition necessitated second-line therapies, including rituximab and thrombopoietin receptor agonists. …

Background. Medical school leadership demographics have been examined previously, but there has not been a study investigating the educational background of the current Deans of Medicine (DOMs). The purpose of this report is to examine the demographics, as well as the educational and training background, of the current DOMs to determine how medical school leadership can continue to be diversified across various attributes, such as gender and specialty type.
Methods. The current DOMs at 159 Doctor of Medicine (MD) and 41 Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) programs were identified using medical school websites. Information about the DOM’s background, including pronouns used …

Hard Tick In Female External Genitalia A Rare Site Of Tick Bite, R. Rajalakshmi, S. Deivam, R. S. Seethalakshmi

Ticks are principal vectors for the transmission of numerous arthropod-borne infections like Lyme disease, human granulocytic anaplasmosis, babesiosis, viral encephalitis, Borrelia, and rickettsial infections. Rarely, tick infestation of lower eyelid has been reported. So far, there has been no case report about tick infestation in genitalia. Hence, we report this rare case entity. A 55-year-old married postmenopausal female reported to the skin OP with the complaints of itching over external genitalia for 3 days. Local examination of the external genitalia initially revealed a hyperpigmented papule over the left labium majus. However, on careful examination, we could see an alive insect …

BACKGROUND:
Infectious diseases are important public health issues in India. Rajasthan state reported 20,749 numbers of dengue fever (DF) cases in 2021, which was 10.73% of the country’s total dengue cases.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
The aim of the study was to diagnose fever cases in the nearby villages of Model Rural Health Research Unit (MRHRU) through the use of its diagnostic facility and to mitigate the diseases using appropriate control methods.
MATERIALS AND METHODS:
This is a community health center (CHC)-based serosurveillance study. The study subjects were the patients who reported at the Outpatient Department of the CHCs Bhanpur Kalan …
