As Slavic language programs seek to align their curricula with workforce needs, the role of Russian and other Slavic languages in military and government service presents unique challenges and opportunities. This paper examines how linguistic training, particularly in Russian, can be better structured for students at American universities and colleges who wish to pursue government and security-related careers. Drawing on 30 interviews with native and non-native Russian speakers serving in the U.S. Army, this study explores the implications of using Russian as a lingua franca for U.S. military cooperation with former Soviet states. Atorvastatin is one of the most widely prescribed lipid-lowering therapies worldwide. Although its cholesterol-lowering effects are well established, the broader systemic metabolic signatures associated with atorvastatin exposure across large human populations remain incompletely characterized. We performed a retrospective metabolomic meta-analysis of human blood samples from approximately 4,000 individuals across six cohorts to identify metabolites most positively and negatively associated with atorvastatin levels. Circulating metabolites spanning both lipid and non-lipid classes were identified as associated with blood atorvastatin levels. Atorvastatin levels were associated with a distinct blood metabolomic signature comprising coordinated changes across multiple metabolite classes. Negatively associated metabolites were dominated …

The complement system is a central component of innate immunity that coordinates host defense, immune surveillance, and inflammatory responses through tightly regulated proteolytic cascades. Genetic variation within complement genes contributes substantially to interindividual differences in complement activity and disease susceptibility. While coding variants directly alter complement protein structure and function, the microRNA (miRNA)-mediated control and post-transcriptional regulation is not fully understood in shaping complement gene expression across immune and inflammatory mechanisms. Background: Early-onset fetal growth restriction occurs before 32 weeks of gestation and increases the risk of hypoxia, preterm birth, and perinatal mortality. Early detection using Doppler velocimetry in high-risk pregnancies reduces complications, emphasizing the importance of timely intervention to improve fetal outcomes.
Objectives: To assess newborn outcomes in cases of early-onset fetal growth restriction and how they relate to clinical variables and Doppler ultrasonography results.

Hilsa, Tenualosa ilisha (Hamilton, 1822), is one of the favourite and popular tropical fish in the people of South-East Asia due to its delicious taste and flavour. This study investigates the comprehensive amino acid profiles of various fishing locations of Bangladesh to assess the protein quality and nutritional values. Fourteen free amino acids were identified from the six riverine locations of Bangladesh. The total free amino acid (TAA) contents were ranged from 11.60 g/100 g in Cox's Bazar to 13,40 g/100 g in Kirtonkhola for raw fish. This study evaluates the effectiveness of deep learning and machine learning models for classifying seabed images into three ecologically significant categories: algae, rocks, and sand. We investigated five models: ResNet50, VGG16, a custom-designed convolutional neural network (CNN), support vector machines (SVM), and random forests (RF). Deep learning models were fine-tuned on 1259 seabed images, with the custom CNN architecture optimized using depthwise separable convolutions and global average pooling. For SVM and RF, features were extracted using a pre-trained VGG16 network. Class weighting was applied to address potential imbalances in the dataset. The wild animals that occupy large territories were found to adapt less easily to captive environments compared to those with small home ranges. Among big cats, captivity posed a range of challenges, with stress emerging as central factor influencing overall welfare. Transition into captive environment was shown to alter both behavior and physiological processes, largely due to changes in their natural habitat, environmental complexity and diet. The Palestinian-Israeli conflict remains one of the major challenges in building sustainable peace through diplomacy. This study analyzes the role of emotions and perceptions in Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiations through the perspective of diplomacy psychology. Using an integrative literature review and an integrated theory approach that combines psychological theories and international relations theories, this study synthesizes empirical and conceptual findings on the Palestinian-Israeli peace negotiation process. Women do not always have the same opportunities as men, particularly in cultures where more traditional gender norms are embraced. Male allyship can positively impact women’s lives by increasing opportunities (e.g., safety, education attainment, career development, financial security). In addition, understanding and embracing gender differences can optimize women’s participation and leadership contributions. Every year, over 700,000 people, particularly children under five, die from vector-borne diseases worldwide. Effectively controlling endemics and preventing new outbreaks requires an integrated approach that can lead to the elimination of both vectors and diseases. In the last two decades, integrating medical interventions and vector control has significantly reduced the incidence of Gambian Human African Trypanosomiasis (g-HAT), with the World Health Organization validating eight countries as having eliminated the disease as a public health problem. The Lindi coast of the Indian Ocean, located in southeastern Tanzania, supports rich biodiversity and has recently experienced rapid growth in socio-economic activities such as fishing, mining, and oil and gas exploration. These activities may enhance levels of natural radioactivity in coastal sediments, potentially increasing radiation exposure to local populations. Therefore, monitoring radioactivity levels and estimating associated radiation doses in this region is important. Plant leaf meals have the potential to replace fishmeal in fish feed formulation, hence reducing its cost and increasing fish production. This study evaluated the effects of plant leaf meals (PLMs) on haematological parameters in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Assessment of groundwater hydrogeochemistry characteristics of aquifers plays a vital role in establishing water quality status and its suitability for human and industrial use. The main objective of this research was to carry out hydrogeochemical characterization of groundwater and assess its impacts on water quality and spatial variability of groundwater geochemistry in Dodoma, Tanzania.
