Background: The educational transition from an intensive care unit nurse to a nurse anesthesia resident (NAR) is challenging. Adequate clinical acumen is expected upon arrival to the learning environment, especially in the context of anesthesia clinical skills and cognitive knowledge. Consequently, providing a learning environment and physical practice builds the foundation for skill sets and enhances NAR proficiency. A routine simulation involving foundational skills in anesthesia will expose NARs routinely to develop workflow, clinical skills, and critical thinking abilities. Purpose: To examine the effects of a nurse-led hearing intervention on communication ability, loneliness, depression, quality of life and hearing aid satisfaction in older adults with hearing loss.
Methods: This was a single-blind, parallel-arm, randomized controlled trial with a repeated measure design. Older adults with hearing loss (N =57) were recruited from an otolaryngology clinic of a university-affiliated hospital in northern Taiwan from September 2021 to October 2023. Participants were randomly allocated to either the intervention, a nurse-led 10-week hearing loss management program (n = 28) or wait-listed as controls (n = 29). The purpose of this integrative review is to describe latent or covert signals of cyber victimization and risky online behaviors in teens, given the increasing prevalence and severity of these issues. With the rapid growth of internet and social media use among teens, exposure to cyber victimization has become a significant concern, with estimates indicating that up to 61% of teens have experienced some form of cyber victimization.1 The reciprocal relationship between risky online behaviors and cyber victimization further complicates this issue, as these behaviors can both result from and contribute to victimization.2–6 This review was guided by Whittemore and …

Purpose: Training is an integral part of volunteer management, which may be particularly important to older volunteers preparing them with the necessary skills for service provision. However, little was known concerning the outcome differences between trained and untrained older volunteers. This study addressed this question by conducting a longitudinal design research to investigate the outcome differences between trained and untrained older volunteers in skill competency and volunteer motivation over time.

The Thomas McRae Memorial Sanatorium for Negroes, located in Alexander, Arkansas, opened its doors in 1931 as the only resource for the entire state’s population of consumptive African Americans. It was touted as one of the best of its kind under the supervision of Dr Hugh A. Browne. But its “kind” was a facility intended for individuals whom whites in the medical and political establishment viewed not only as second class citizens but as biologically and medically different.

The purpose of the current investigation is to analyze existing research examining the impact of play therapy on the development of language skills in young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Despite constituting the majority of mid-level academic professionals and outpacing men in educational attainment, women remain significantly underrepresented in senior leadership roles across higher education. This mixed-methods (n=20) study explores the “sacrifice gap”-the disproportionate personal, professional, and economic costs women bear to reach leadership positions-by centering the lived experiences of women leaders navigating the intersection of family expectations, institutional barriers, and identity-based discrimination. Quantitative survey data from women in higher education leadership reveal that caregiving roles such as motherhood, partnership, and household management are perceived as moderate but persistent hindrances to career advancement, with these roles functioning as interconnected, systemic …

This study introduces and applies the Dutch translation of the Adjustment Scales for Early Transition in Schooling (ASETS), assessed in 323 kindergarten children across 30 regular schools in the Netherlands. Culturally-tailored, context-informed assessments are essential to address childhood adaptation challenges in early schooling. Starting with a professional translation and back-translation of the ASETS by a translation bureau, a panel of kindergarten teachers critically reviewed the translated items. They ensured reliability, contextual accuracy, and addressed nuances in Dutch school terminology, bridging cultural differences between U.S. and Dutch educational settings. A fatal health condition involves an unborn baby that persists throughout the embryonic stage until delivery. The fetus grows and develops during each trimester of pregnancy. Obstetricians may detect fetal anomalies and select medical interventions based on cardiotocogram (CTG) data. However, the obstetrician's visual assessment of CTG data can sometimes be subjective or inaccurate. Therefore, automated analysis using machine learning approaches for CTG data is essential. This research employs decision analysis techniques, including decision trees (DT), gradient boosting (GB), and type-2 fuzzy neural networks (FNN), for prenatal analysis and prediction. This qualitative phenomenological study explored the lived experiences of young widows who use Instagram for grief support following the death of a spouse. Young widows often face disenfranchised grief and limited access to traditional support systems, which can impede emotional processing and identity reconstruction. Grounded in Continuing Bonds Theory, which posits that ongoing connections with the deceased can be adaptive, the study examined how Instagram facilitates or complicates grief by enabling emotional expression, maintaining bonds, and fostering engagement with a community of shared loss. Law enforcement agencies across the United States are facing critical challenges with the recruitment and retention of officers. This study examined whether differences existed in occupational resilience and turnover intentions across generations of active law enforcement personnel, and whether resilience levels were correlated with turnover intentions. A quantitative, cross-sectional design was used to collect data via an online survey that included the Predictive 6-Factor Resilience Scale and the Expanded Multidimensional Turnover Intentions Scale. To investigate how physical function performance and arthritis-related pain relate to sensor assessed movement behaviors in a diverse sample of inactive adults with various forms of arthritis.Design

Adults with arthritis (n = 267; 60.0% Black, 92.0% female, 64.1 ± 9.4 years) from a telephone-based walking intervention.Measures
Movement behaviors (moderate to vigorous intensity physical activity, MVPA; sedentary time) were assessed with ActiGraph accelerometers at baseline. Vegetation in semi-arid rangeland ecosystems is typically characterized by the presence of a few dominant grass species that control ecosystem processes and, by extension, ecosystem services such as forage production. Thus, understanding and comparing the responses of dominant forage species to climatic variability can lend insight into how functioning and services in these ecosystems will respond to climate change. The use of continuous glucose monitoring devices (CGMs) has become essential for improved glycemic control and the prevention of complications among patients. However, a significant number of nurses lack proper training in supporting patients with these devices, leading to a gap in practice. The problem addressed through this study was the decrease in proficiency levels in math and English Language Arts (ELA) of 3rd- to 8th-grade students on standardized tests following the COVID-19 pandemic in Connecticut (CT). The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine the difference between the mean change in math and ELA standardized test scores for Grades 3-8 for 4 years before and 4 years after the introduction of the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) grant funding in CT, while controlling for all other funds received. Background/Objectives: The incidence of dysrhythmia after blunt thoracic trauma varies in the literature from 8-75%, and the complication rate from these dysrhythmias is not well studied. The aims of this study are to (1) identify the incidence of dysrhythmia following blunt thoracic trauma, (2) identify risk factors associated with developing a dysrhythmia, and (3) identify the incidence of cardiac intervention after developing a dysrhythmia. PragerU is a conservative media outlet founded by Dennis Prager in 2009 that aims to insert new conservative content into existing U.S. public school curricula. While conservative activist groups have attempted for decades to alter educational content and policy, PragerU is attempting to directly influence public school curricula by having their materials authorized for use in public schools.
