Journal of Dispute Resolution
Imagine you are not reading this article. Instead, you are walking back home from dinner with your friends. As you walk down the street, someone comes up behind you and demands you hand them your money. You turn around to give them all the money you have, only to lock eyes with the barrel of a gun. What are you feeling in this moment? A little bit of rage perhaps. Maybe your hands have started shaking. Or, just maybe, you are feeling a little defiant. But before you can even react, a police officer is running down the street, yelling …

Adapt Vr In Dental Education: Boosting Preclinical Skill And Self-Confidence, Shehabeldin Mohamed Saber Prof.Dr.
Dentistry
Introduction: Preclinical dental training requires extensive feedback and repetition, which traditional manikin exercises often lack. Adapt VR is a cost-effective, immersive system that delivers interactive, adaptive training with real-time feedback. Methods: This comparative study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the Adapt VR system in preclinical training. A total of 126 third-year dental students were randomly assigned to an Adapt VR Group 1 (n = 63), acquiring VR learning experience before practicing on laboratory simulators, or a control group (n = 63) who started their training on simulators directly. After practising Class I and II cavity preparations, laboratory performance was …

Placental abnormalities are central to preeclampsia (PE), yet the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying this dysfunction remain unclear. We applied a multi-layered, integrative approach to investigate placental tissue from patients with PE and matched controls. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq; GSE173193) and bulk RNA sequencing (bulk RNA-seq; GSE203507) datasets were obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus. The scRNA-seq dataset included two PE and two control samples, whereas the bulk RNA-seq dataset focused on eight early-onset PE and five uncomplicated term births. Trophoblast subpopulations were identified via scRNA-seq, and pseudotime analysis was used to trace differentiation trajectories. Differential expression and pathway enrichment …

Sorex araneus, the Eurasian common shrew, has seasonal brain size plasticity (Dehnel's phenomenon) and many intraspecific chromosomal rearrangements. Genomic contributions to these traits, however, remain unknown. We couple a chromosome-scale genome assembly with seasonal brain transcriptomes to discover relationships between molecular evolution and both traits. While Positively Selected Genes (PSGs) enriched the Fanconi anemia DNA repair pathway (FANCI, FAAP100), which is likely involved in chromosomal rearrangements by preventing the accumulation of chromosomal aberrations, genes under positive selection or showing seasonal differential expression in the brain implicate neurogenesis (PCDHA6, SOX9, Notch signaling) and metabolic regulation (VEGFA, SPHK2) as key mechanisms underlying …
Quality Improvement Project: Improving Transitional Care Management (Tcm) Follow-Up Through Medical Assistant Education, Oben Assick
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
The underutilization of Transitional Care Management (TCM) services in primary care significantly contributes to preventable hospital readmissions and revenue loss. Despite established Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines, execution often fails due to knowledge gaps among frontline staff. This quality improvement project addressed low TCM task completion rates by implementing a structured educational intervention for medical assistants (MAs). The purpose was to evaluate whether targeted training improves timely patient follow-up, visit scheduling, and billing accuracy. The project utilized Kotter’s 8-Step Change Model to guide organizational change and the Health Belief Model to address behavioral barriers. A quantitative, quasi-experimental …

Conditions Of Vulnerability: Interpreting Social Condition Discrimination, Colleen Sheppard, Geneviève Plumptre, Hannah Reaburn
Conditions Of Vulnerability: Interpreting Social Condition Discrimination, Colleen Sheppard, Geneviève Plumptre, Hannah Reaburn
Dalhousie Law Journal
At a time of deepening structural inequality, it is important to develop human rights categories that respond to the needs of diverse social groups living in conditions of vulnerability. One source of protection, aimed at countering the exclusion and maltreatment of people who are socially or economically disadvantaged, is the addition of “social condition” as a prohibited ground of discrimination. Québec, the Northwest Territories, and New Brunswick have such protection in their anti-discrimination laws. In this article, we argue that the social condition ground is an important tool for redressing intersectional, group-based vulnerabilities that do not fit readily into traditional …

Prevalence And Risk Factors For Laparoscopic Managed Ectopic Pregnancies At A Tertiary Referral Hospital - A 10-Year Synopsis: A Cross Sectional Study, Steve Mutiso, Eric Mugambi
Prevalence And Risk Factors For Laparoscopic Managed Ectopic Pregnancies At A Tertiary Referral Hospital - A 10-Year Synopsis: A Cross Sectional Study, Steve Mutiso, Eric Mugambi
Obstetrics and Gynaecology, East Africa
Background Ectopic pregnancies (EP) are a common pregnancy associated complication. They are associated with significant morbidity, and rarely mortality, if not managed properly. EP have a myriad of predisposing factors that help identify patients at risk and facilitate early diagnosis and intervention. We set out to conduct an audit of EP managed surgically at our hospital for a 10-year period and discern the incidence, prevalence and risk factors of their occurrence.
Methods This study was designed as a Retrospective Clinical Audit based at the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH). Study population was all women admitted to AKUH with a diagnosis …

The National Security Internet, Anupam Chander
The National Security Internet, Anupam Chander
Georgetown Law Faculty Publications and Other Works
In response to widespread foreign surveillance and growing geopolitical distrust, governments are erecting a national security internet. Pioneered by China, national firewalls have gone global. But where firewalls sought to keep information out, they now seek to keep data in. Governments keen to avoid their citizens’ data from falling into foreign hands demand not only that personal data be stored on local servers, but also require that it be stored on local servers by local companies—what this Article calls “data localization squared.” Enforcing this demand requires a new mechanism of transnational control: immunity from foreign jurisdiction. Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, …
