Understanding The Mindset Of Jamaican Teachers Regarding The Integration Of Technology In The Pedagogical Process: A Qualitative Transcendental Phenomenological Study, Dane Bernard
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this transcendental phenomenological study was to understand the mindset of teachers regarding embracing technology in selected rural elementary schools in Jamaica. The theories guiding this study were Dweck’s growth mindset theory and Davis’s technology acceptance model (TAM) as they both speak directly to the two main concepts in the study: mindset and embracing technology. The study sought to respond to the following central research question: What are rural Jamaican teachers' experiences with technology integration at the primary school level? To gather quality and credible information, three main data collection tools were utilized to execute this study. These …
The Impact Of Communication On Generational Trauma, Claudia Abalo
The Impact Of Communication On Generational Trauma, Claudia Abalo
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Trauma has occurred since God made man, and it has been passed down through generations. Now, even though generational trauma may not end until our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ returns (Revelations 21:4), in the meantime, the Scriptures encourage us to love one another as God loves us (John 13:34-35), to care for each other, and to share our burdens with one another (Galatians 6:2). However, there is limited research as to whether sharing our burdens such as discussing traumatic experiences within the home impacts generational trauma. Therefore, this qualitative, interpretative phenomenological study aimed to answer how the children of …
The Development And Maturity Of Borderline Personality Disorder In Modern Times, Kevin M. Reynolds
The Development And Maturity Of Borderline Personality Disorder In Modern Times, Kevin M. Reynolds
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a dynamic condition that significantly varies between afflicted individuals, with a diverse variety of contributing factors in terms of symptom manifestation. Better comprehending BPD is essential in generalizing the contributing, etiological factors of the condition to broad demographics. Unfortunately, the existing research has failed to accomplish this goal, usually only studying how the condition and its symptoms manifest in Caucasian females. This study focused on closing this gap by discovering links between broader demographics within the context of etiology, comorbidities, and spiritual affiliation. This quantitative study involved collecting etiology, symptom, comorbidity, and spirituality data from …

Analyzing The Effects Of Supervisors’ Conduct On The Persistent Stress Experienced By Nevada Law Enforcement Officers, Kendra D. Still
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
This quantitative study aimed to identify the specific actions of supervisors that contribute to chronic stress among law enforcement officers in Nevada. Chronic stress is a common issue in law enforcement and can have detrimental effects on officers’ mental and physical well-being. Despite the acknowledgement of supervisors' actions as a significant stressor for officers, there is a lack of research specifically addressing the actions that officers perceive as most stress-inducing, particularly in Nevada. This research gap hinders efforts to address and alleviate these stressors, allowing them to persist and impact officers' well-being. To address this gap, a Likert-scale survey was …

Adversaries And Experts: Legal Tradition Versus Empirical Science, André M. Peñalver
Adversaries And Experts: Legal Tradition Versus Empirical Science, André M. Peñalver
Seattle University Law Review Online
The modern courtroom can become a battleground between two epistemologies: the adversarial logic of law and the empirical rigor of science. Using a case involving a neuropsychological exam under Washington Civil Rule 35, this Article explores the tension between these traditions. While medicine embraced the Scientific Revolution, law remains tethered to its medieval Scholastic roots. The Article argues for humility and integration of evidence-based reasoning within the adversarial process.

In Situ Detection Of Dead Cells From Live Cells Via A Dc Plus Low Frequency Ac Resistive Pulse Sensor, Jiang Zhe, Ge Zhang, Joseph Ketchum, Ashely Wong
University Research
Differentiation and detection of live and dead cells are critical for assessing cell viability in biomedical research, evaluating drug efficacy, and monitoring cytotoxicity in therapeutic applications. We present a microfluidic sensor that consists of two successive resistive pulse sensing channels. An excitation signal composed of a low-frequency AC (75 kHz) component and a DC bias was used to measure four key parameters. Through the AC measurement, differences in cell impedance causes variations in phase angle and voltage peak. From the DC measurement, cell size can be inferred from the resistive pulse magnitude, and the cell’s zeta potential is represented by …

Since the 1970s, governments and organizations across the globe have achieved tremendous progress against sexual harassment (SH), especially in the workplace. However, the number of organizations suffering from this crisis has increased significantly over the past few years. Based on an overview of SH crises -that have received extra media coverage since 2014- this paper explores whether organizations managed to learn from these crises. Compared to other crises, SH scandals produce a higher magnitude of provocation within society. An individual's act, based on their perception that the influence of power can be exchanged for sexual favors, destroys a business's global …

Glaucoma, long considered an ocular-limited, age-dependent and hypoxia-driven neurodegeneration, is here reframed as a systemic erythroid-inosine axis failure that originates in the bone marrow yet culminates in retinal ganglion cell (RGC) death. By mining UK Biobank datasets (n = 127,028) and validating our findings in an independent clinical cohort (n = 178), we reveal that glaucoma is preceded by dyserythropoiesis and a compensatory, AMPK-driven metabolic rewiring of mature erythrocytes that hypercatabolizes inosine to enhance oxygen unloading. This adaptation collapses when accelerated erythrocyte inosine metabolism drains systemic pools, starving high-energy demand hematopoietic progenitors, driving retinal microenvironment hypoxia and accelerating RGC loss. …

The Role Of Forgiveness: Spirituality, Loneliness, And Depression In A Christian University, Elda Botello-Ramirez
The Role Of Forgiveness: Spirituality, Loneliness, And Depression In A Christian University, Elda Botello-Ramirez
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
For university students, loneliness has harmful effects, like depression, but choosing to forgive and embracing spirituality can lead to better mental health. Yet, limited studies have examined these constructs among students enrolled in long-distance learning (LDL) courses. This is important because an increase in loneliness continues, and more students are taking LDL classes. Still, there is a paucity of work on mental health among students in Christian universities. Thus, this quantitative research study examined context-specific or transgression-specific forgiveness (state forgiveness) while considering the role of personality traits (i.e., trait forgiveness) related to forgiveness to investigate its impact on loneliness and …
