Bot-Theology: Inviting, Prosperous, And (In)Authentic Community, Daniel Jesse Mar 2026

Bot-Theology: Inviting, Prosperous, And (In)Authentic Community, Daniel Jesse

University Faculty Publications and Creative Works

The paper analyzes the theology, emotions, and community formation of the bots who post on YouTube and the people who respond to them. The paper finds that the bots’ theology is evangelical, charismatic, and prosperity-oriented. The paper also finds that the people who respond to the bots are sincere, supportive, and expressive, and that they create a virtual community of faith that is joyful, hopeful, and trusting. The paper suggests that virtual gatherings of Christians need more scholarly attention and that more research is needed on the emotional formation and theological implications of these online interactions.

The immune system is not only essential for host defense, but it is also involved in tissue maintenance and disease pathogenesis. Macrophages play a key role in tissue repair, fibrosis, and tumorigenesis, but the mechanisms underlying their multifunctionality have not been fully explored. Here, we identified Mrep (Ly6ChiCX3CR1loPDPN+CD9+) as a crucial subset of macrophages for muscle regeneration after muscle injury. Muscle regeneration required Mrep-derived activin A, which was produced via the TLR4/TIR domain-containing adapter-inducing interferon-β/TANK-binding kinase 1/interferon regulatory factor 3/7 signaling pathway in response to muscle injury. Mrep exerted pathological effects by secreting activin A in a model of genetically …

How To Design A State Child And Dependent Care Tax Credit That Works, Gabrielle Pepin Mar 2026

How To Design A State Child And Dependent Care Tax Credit That Works, Gabrielle Pepin

Reports

High care costs for children and older adults put an increasing strain on American families, often pushing caregivers out of the workforce. While investments in affordable care deliver lasting benefits for families, employers, and the economy, the federal Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit (CDCTC) falls short—leaving states well positioned to make a difference. This Policy Blueprint highlights three ways the CDCTC fails families, and three solutions for designing a state tax credit that can help.

Handgrip strength is a proxy for muscular fitness, an indicator for general health status, and is associated with cardiometabolic health. The mechanisms connecting handgrip strength to skeletal muscle function are incompletely understood. We applied integrated linkage-disequilibrium-adjusted colocalization analysis of genome-wide association study summary statistics for handgrip strength, combined with expression and splicing quantitative trait loci from skeletal muscle, and identified glycogen branching enzyme 1 (GBE1) as a candidate gene for handgrip strength. CRISPR-interference knockdown of GBE1 in immortalized human skeletal muscle cells (HMCL-7304) demonstrated decreased glycogen content and accumulation of polyglucosan bodies. Knockdown of GBE1 led to increased oxygen consumption …

Hypophosphatasia (HPP) is the rare metabolic disorder caused by variants in the ALPL gene, resulting in deficient activity of tissue-nonspecific alkaline phosphatase (ALP). This leads to accumulation of substrates contributing to impaired bone mineralization. Hypophosphatasia manifests with a broad clinical spectrum; however, an increasing number of individuals with ALPL variants have been identified presenting the hallmark biochemical feature of HPP of low serum ALP activity, with or without elevated serum pyridoxal-5-phosphate (PLP) or urine phosphoethanolamine (PEA), while remaining asymptomatic. These ALPL carriers may represent a distinct subgroup within the HPP continuum, prompting the need for clearer classification. Using data from …

Previous studies have demonstrated poor outcomes in pediatric patients with H3 G34-mutant diffuse hemispheric glioma (DHG). However, the biological basis for this therapeutic resistance remains poorly understood. Furthermore, the effectiveness of temozolomide (TMZ) and the role of surgery in pediatric patients remain uncertain. Therefore, we performed a multi-institutional retrospective analysis of the clinical, imaging, and molecular characteristics of 36 pediatric (≤ 18 years) patients with newly diagnosed H3 G34-mutant DHG. The median age of the cohort was 14 years (8-18 years). The median progression-free survival (PFS) was 0.7 years (95% CI 0.4-1.2 years), and the median overall survival (OS) was …

Sustainable Aviation Fuel (Saf) From Used Cooking Oil (Uco) In Egypt: Opportunities And Challenges., Lamiaa Abdallah

Mansoura Engineering Journal

Global aviation sector contributes nearly 2.5% of global CO2 emissions. Aviation is hard-to-decarbonize sector due to the high energy densities required for aircraft. Commercial aviation is fueled by kerosene-based jet fuel. Alternatives for this carbonbased fuel include electric batteries, hydrogen fuel, and SAF. Electric batteries have very low energy densities. Hydrogen would require a complete change of the aviation system, including fuel & airport infrastructure. SAF is the only viable option in the short to medium term. SAF is produced from sustainable feed-stocks (like agricultural oils), with no embodied carbon. Existing airplanes can use traditional fuel blended with up to …

Introduction High pricing of orphan drugs often restricts patient access. As orphan medicines are usually not cost-effective according to traditional thresholds, countries may choose not to consider the cost-effectiveness criterion in pricing and reimbursement decisions or may adopt higher thresholds for orphan drugs. The objective of this research was to develop a multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) framework to serve as a multiplier for determining a differential cost-effectiveness threshold (CET) for orphan drugs in Egypt. Methods A scoping review was conducted to identify criteria used for the evaluation of orphan drugs. This was followed by a policy workshop with the representation …

Collar Correction For Lenity: Modifying The Rule Of Lenity To Promote More Equitable Application To White-Collar And Blue-Collar Defendants, Brennan Corriston

Fordham Law Review Online

Centuries ago in England, when most crimes were punishable by death, judges—aware of the unfairness of this system—construed penal statutes narrowly. This was “to stem the march to the gallows” and to protect citizens from this overly harsh regime. From these harsh origins arose the rule of lenity, which instructs that when the scope of a criminal statute is ambiguous, courts should select the less harsh—i.e., more lenient—interpretation of the statute. This principle can serve constitutional functions: lenity safeguards due process by ensuring that the public has fair notice about the reach of criminal laws, and it safeguards separation of …

The Need For Developing Psychologically Informed Physical Therapy Education, Dustin Cox Mar 2026

The Need For Developing Psychologically Informed Physical Therapy Education, Dustin Cox

Journal of Applied Disciplines

Chronic pain presents a multifaceted challenge for healthcare providers, often impacting patients' physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. Research indicates that individuals with chronic pain process pain through emotional and reward pathways in the brain, underscoring the need for integrative treatment approaches. Evidence supports the effectiveness of combining psychological interventions with physical rehabilitation to improve outcomes. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a mindfulness-based behavioral therapy, has shown promise in addressing the psychological dimensions of chronic pain. However, physical therapists often lack formal training in ACT. This study protocol was designed to explore effective methods for educating physical therapists in ACT principles …

Rising global temperatures pose significant risks to marine ecosystems, biodiversity, and fisheries. Recent comprehensive assessments suggest that large-scale mitigation efforts to limit warming are falling short, and all feasible future climate projections, including those that represent optimistic emissions reductions, exceed the Paris Agreement's 1.5°C or 2° warming targets during this century. While avoiding further CO2 emissions remains the most effective way to prevent environmental destabilization, interest is growing in climate interventions—deliberate, large-scale manipulations of the environment aimed at reducing global warming. These include carbon dioxide removal (CDR) to reduce atmospheric CO2 concentrations over time, and solar radiation modification (SRM), which …

Betting The House: Why The Safe Bet Act Is A Long Shot To Survive Constitutional Scrutiny Under The Commerce Clause And Anti-Commandeering Doctrine, Jared Weingard

UNLV Gaming Law Journal

The rapid expansion of legalized sports gambling following Murphy v. NCAA has raised concerns about problem gambling, predatory marketing, and inconsistent state regulations. In response, the SAFE Bet Act, introduced by Representative Paul Tonko, seeks to impose nationwide standards on sports betting. However, its framework raises significant constitutional concerns under the Commerce Clause and the anti-commandeering doctrine. This Article argues that the Act’s enforcement mechanism likely violates the Tenth Amendment by coercing states into compliance, conflicting with Supreme Court precedent on federal conditional spending and preemption.

Given these vulnerabilities, this Article explores three alternative approaches that would achieve similar regulatory …

An Adaptive Immersive Training Framework For Miner Self-Escape Readiness In Underground Mining Emergencies, Muhammad Azeem Raza, Samuel Frimpong, Saima Ghazal

Mining Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works

Underground mining environments are complex and hazardous operations where emergencies continue to happen. Underground mine emergencies require rapid, high-stakes decision-making under conditions of uncertainty, stress, and limited visibility. Conventional mine emergency training largely relies on instruction-based approaches which provide insufficient exposure to the cognitive and behavioral demands of real underground emergency situations. There has been an identified need to train miners for knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics (KSAOs). This study proposes an Adaptive Immersive Training Framework (AITF), a cognitively grounded architecture that integrates cognitive task analysis (CTA), KSAOs, and situational awareness assessment for miner self-escape training and readiness. The …

Road Salt Alters The Ecological Effects Of Atrazine-Cypermethrin Mixtures In Freshwater Microalgae Mixtures In Freshwater Microalgae, Arif Ahmed, Matthew S Schuler

Department of Biology Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works

Pesticides and road deicing salts are widespread contaminants in freshwater systems and frequently co-occur due to runoff and direct application. Atrazine, a triazine herbicide, and sodium chloride (NaCl), commonly used for road deicing, can independently alter water chemistry and affect aquatic primary producers. Atrazine can affect the freshwater algae, either inhibiting or stimulating their growth. The prolonged persistence of dissolved salts, ranging from decades to centuries, can lead to complex environmental scenarios characterized by multiple interacting stressors. Although many studies have examined each pollutant separately, their interactive effects have only recently gained scientific attention. This study investigated the individual and …
