A Discussion On The Impact Of Covid-19 To Industrial Location And Theimplications For Location Studies, Yiwei Jin, Ryan James
The Geographical Bulletin
The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted supply chains and caused wide market disorders. Its disastrous impact on the world economy exposed the vulnerability of globalized production systems and led to discussions on the responses to such a crisis. These responses, including a new global spatial organization of supply chains, challenged our conceptual understanding, assumptions, and application of location theory in the spatial organization of economic activities. Through reviewing the literature, we outlined the pandemic’s profound economic disruption and identified firms’ applicable responsive strategies through Industry 4.0 solutions and management adaptions. Then based on the responses of technological upgrading we speculated possible changes …

Psychosocial Treatment Of Trichotillomania: A Review, Leila K. Capel, Mercedes G. Woolley, Michael P. Twohig
Psychology Student Research
Trichotillomania can be an impactful disorder, yet compared to a multitude of diagnoses, intervention research on trichotillomania is notably underdeveloped. There have been a variety of treatments developed for trichotillomania, including habit reversal training (HRT), ACT-enhanced behavior therapy (A-EBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), enhanced cognitive behavioral therapy, comprehensive behavioral treatment (ComB), metacognitive therapy (MCT), and decoupling. Papers synthesizing the data on psychosocial interventions for trichotillomania are needed to assist professionals in choosing the most supported options for their work. Articles were retrieved through EBSCOhost through engines like PsycInfo, PsycArticles, and PubMed. Articles were selected if they were testing a psychosocial …

Efficient Matrix Profile Computation With Euclidean Distance Using Eigen Transformation: Performance Evaluation Based On Beat-To-Beat Interval (Bbi) Data, James J Yang, Anne Buu
Faculty, Staff and Student Publications
The matrix profile serves as a fundamental tool to provide insights into similar patterns within time series. Existing matrix profile algorithms have been primarily developed for the normalized Euclidean distance, which may not be a proper distance measure in many settings. The methodology work of this paper was motivated by statistical analysis of beat-to-beat interval (BBI) data collected from smartwatches to monitor e-cigarette users’ heart rate change patterns for which the original Euclidean distance (L2-norm) would be a more suitable choice. Yet, incorporating the Euclidean distance into existing matrix profile algorithms turned out to be computationally challenging, especially …

BACKGROUND: Maternal rectovaginal colonization by group B Streptococcus (GBS) increases the risk of perinatal GBS disease that can lead to death or long-term neurological impairment. Factors that increase the risk of rectovaginal GBS carriage are incompletely understood resulting in missed opportunities for detecting GBS in risk-based clinical approaches. There is a lacking consensus on whether gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a risk factor for rectovaginal GBS. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to address current conflicting findings and determine whether GDM should be clinically considered as a risk factor for maternal GBS colonization.
METHODS: Peer-reviewed studies that provided GDM prevalence …

Evaluating Language And Communication Surrounding Responsible Gambling, Marla B. Royne Stafford, Anastasia Hronis, Alan Feldman, William T. Hartwell
UNLV Gaming Research & Review Journal
The topic of responsible gambling has been the focus of debate over recent years. Unfortunately the language surrounding responsible gambling has proven ineffective, due to varying definitions and debate over stigma related to responsibility. This paper discusses the importance of language in communicating about consumer protection and harm minimization to the public. Three key areas of discussion are highlighted: 1) decoupling responsible gambling and problem gambling to reduce the barrier of stigma; 2) redefining responsible gambling, and 3) the need for conversations amongst peers and parents, all with the view to proactively prevent gambling-related harms.

Children In The Entertainment Industry: The Right To Childhood. An Analysis Of Federal Laws Regarding Mental Health & Minors In The Entertainmnet Industry, Alyssa J. Rodriguez
Florida Entertainment and Sports Law Review
Society has simply accepted the entertainment industry as it is and has blamed former minor actors for their alcohol addiction, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and/or their lack of education that stems from their childhood. Society humanizes former minor actors and actresses in articles like, “Where Are They Now” or “10 Shocking Ways These Child Stars Died,” and uses their stories as entertaining reads and clickbait. Society has coined terms such as “toddler-to-trainwreck” that censors the harm happening behind the scenes, manicuring aspirational lifestyles and outcomes, and then watches young lives tragically implode.
Unfortunately, many think that federal labor laws provide adequate …

The Art Of War: Global Speech Diktats And The Regulatory Challenges To Address Foreign Political Censorship, Michael K. Park
Florida Entertainment and Sports Law Review
China’s global rise and influence is reflected in its long arm reach into many transnational sectors that shape public opinion, including media, publishing, academia and sports. However, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has become more emboldened to use economic incentives (or punishment) to induce foreign industries to either self-censor or advance the CCP’s political messaging. This work examines proposed and existing U.S. federal regulatory mechanisms that could potentially address extraterritorial censorship and propaganda, with particular attention paid to their application to China. This work begins with a modest review of the CCP’s adoption of “sharp power” pursuant to advancing the …

Tinhatting The Constitution: Originalism As A Fandom, Stacey M. Lantagne
Florida Entertainment and Sports Law Review
Several recent Supreme Court cases, most notably Bruen and Dobbs, have employed originalist methods to interpreting the Constitution, seeking to give the Second and Fourteenth Amendments, respectively, the meaning that was understood by the public in 1791 and 1868. In this imaginative exercise compiling massive amounts of textual evidence to arrive at conclusions regarding what unknown people were thinking, originalism resembles a type of fandom practice called RPF, or Real Person Fiction. This type of fan activity likewise compiles massive amounts of textual evidence to arrive at conclusions regarding what unknown people were thinking. It’s just that RPF revolves …
