The chapter analyzes erasures and appropriations that the discourse of the psychedelic renaissance arising in the Global North imposes on long-standing practices in indigenous societies and countercultural environments. It also suggests ways in which a critical Humanities can, from a Latin American perspective, offer more inclusive understandings of the psychedelic experience.

Are We Safe In The Digital World? Why We Still Fall Victim To Cybercrime, Kevin Le
Honors Papers and Posters
Cybersecurity has only recently gained press coverage as millions of individuals are victimized by cyberattacks. While current cybersecurity measures offer some protection, human error has been the number one cause of cyberattacks for the past eight years (Verizon, 2024). Cybercrime continues to evolve in complexity, leveraging advanced technology and human psychology to bypass traditional security systems. This study examines why individuals still fall victim to cyberattacks. It explores the psychological and cognitive factors that make individuals vulnerable, focusing on social engineering techniques such as phishing and pretexting. This study also analyzes factors from psychological theories, including Protection Motivation Theory, Routine …

Facilitating Engagement In Meaningful Occupations Through Nature-Based Experiences, Sydney Johnson
Facilitating Engagement In Meaningful Occupations Through Nature-Based Experiences, Sydney Johnson
Occupational Therapy Capstones
Background: Many children, especially those living in urban areas, are spending less time in nature than ever before which is decreasing their engagement in meaningful occupations such as sleep, play, education, social participation, and activities of daily living. Interacting with nature can improve children’s emotional regulation, development, attention span, mental health, and overall well-being. It is important that children have access to nature and its benefits to ensure they are reaching their full potential in life. One method to improve children’s access to nature is providing them with nature-based activities that can be modified or adapted for those living in …

A Fear Of Ideas? Social Media, Foreign Influence, And National Security In A New Era Of Great-Power Competition, Michael Park
Fordham Intellectual Property, Media and Entertainment Law Journal
The recent spate of legal restrictions on the use of TikTok and other foreign-controlled social media applications highlight concerns over personal data collection, but also how fears over the potential foreign influence of ideas from adversarial foreign governments—whether by propaganda, censorship, or disinformation—have re-emerged in the national security debate. Yet there are concerns that this new era of great power competition will be the basis for justifying overreaching speech regulations that hinder access to information and ideas under the aegis of national security. This work attempts to examine the recent enactment of speech restrictions or bans on foreign-controlled applications within …

The Right To (Digital) Identity, Sarah M. Snow
Fordham Intellectual Property, Media and Entertainment Law Journal
Identity verification is a prerequisite for full participation in modern society. Access to financial services, employment, housing, healthcare, education, and civic engagement all hinge on an individual’s ability to prove their identity. Millions of Americans—particularly marginalized groups—struggle with the rigid, bureaucratic, and often discriminatory processes of traditional identity verification systems. Without legally recognized identification, individuals are effectively excluded from economic and civic life. This Note argues that the ability to prove one’s identity is a protected interest. It proposes adoption of a federal Self-Sovereign Identity (SSI) as a legal and technological mechanism to guarantee all Americans have access to a …

Standing On Slippery Ground: Pfas Products, Article Iii Standing, And The Case For Legislative Action, Bren J. Chaisson
Student Competition & Published Writings
Can implementing a new statute fix the standing obstacle that many cases involving per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) face? PFAS are a classification of thousands of common chemicals that cause a variety of adverse health effects. Hardwick v. 3M Co. highlighted the issue plaintiffs have with establishing standing when bringing forth a case. The plaintiff’s alleged injury was the presence of five specific PFAS in his bloodwork. The 6 th Circuit Court of Appeals held that the plaintiff, a firefighter who often used PFAS-contaminated foam, was unable to demonstrate that the defendants, several PFAS manufacturers, were responsible for the PFAS …

Contract Rights After Lochner: The Clause That Time Forgot, Leonard C. Brahin
Contract Rights After Lochner: The Clause That Time Forgot, Leonard C. Brahin
Western New England Law Review
The Contract Clause occupies a unique position in our constitutional jurisprudence. Its language sweeps broadly and the Marshall Court wielded it like a bludgeon, curtailing the power of overzealous state governments. But this sweeping power was curbed as the end of the Lochner era rendered the Contract Clause all but a dead letter.
Rendered inert for years by atextual interpretations, the rise of textualism and “history and tradition” offers new hope to impaired contractors. Building on this momentum, this Article conducts the first, complete fifty-state survey of state court constitutions and proposes that the Marshall Court’s original understanding of the …
The Case For Abolishing Tax Foreclosure Of Primary Residences: Can Originalists And Progressives Agree?, Lauren Rogers
The Case For Abolishing Tax Foreclosure Of Primary Residences: Can Originalists And Progressives Agree?, Lauren Rogers
Western New England Law Review
The unanimous 2023 Tyler v Hennepin County Supreme Court decision holding that government retention of surplus proceeds from tax sales is an unconstitutional taking presents an opportunity for states to examine their tax foreclosure proceedings and make changes. These changes should comport both with the constitutional right to due process and the strong public policy interest in housing stability. Some scholars conclude that additional steps need to be added to ensure due process, while others advocate for a single step with robust protections. In this article, I argue that now is the time for states to take bold action and …

Tissue Kallikrein 1 Cleaves Complement Factor C3 And Activates The Alternative Complement Pathway, Sarah E. Sartain, Andrew Yee, Paula Jacobi
Research Data
Hematopoietic stem cell transplant-associated thrombotic microangiopathy (HSCT-TMA), characterized by microvascular endothelial damage and severe renal injury, negatively affects HSCT survivorship with high mortality and long-term renal morbidity. After HSCT, innate immunity and inflammation are often dysregulated. The alternative complement pathway (AP) of the innate immune system is overactivated in HSCT-TMA, but the mechanisms of its initiation are poorly described. Complement component C3 of the AP can be cleaved by proteases outside of the AP. Because mRNA expression of tissue kallikrein 1 (KLK1), an inflammatory serine protease that produces kinins, has been found to be markedly elevated in the renal endothelium …

Development Of Nanoemulsion Formulation Incorporating Copaiba Oleoresin And Cidofovir To Enhance Skin Permeability In Topical Application For Hpv-Related Skin Conditions, Mansi Dilip More
Master’s Theses - College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences
The objective of this study was to develop a 1% cidofovir-loaded copaiba oleoresin nanoemulsion and evaluate its potential to enhance topical drug permeability for the treatment of Human Papillomavirus (HPV)-associated skin conditions. The formulation combined the antiviral properties of cidofovir with the anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial characteristics of copaiba oil to improve drug delivery and therapeutic efficacy.
Nanoemulsions were prepared using a probe sonication method. Seven formulations (F1–F7) with varying compositions were initially evaluated for particle size, polydispersity index (PDI), stability, and transparency. Among these, formulation F7 exhibited a mean particle size of 56.1 ± 3.12 nm, a PDI of 0.126 …

Can Eastern Wisdom Solve Western Problems? A Book Review On Sun Tzu’S “The Art Of War”, Tian Qin
Can Eastern Wisdom Solve Western Problems? A Book Review On Sun Tzu’S “The Art Of War”, Tian Qin
Health Care Administration Faculty Research
This paper explores how Eastern philosophical wisdom, specifically Sun Tzu’s The Art of War, can be applied to address modern Western organizational challenges. By drawing parallels between Sun Tzu’s military strategies and Bolman and Deal’s (2008) organizational theory—particularly the structural, political, and human resource frames—the review highlights how strategic evaluation, environmental awareness, and adaptive leadership can drive success in contemporary institutions. It critically examines Sun Tzu’s authoritative leadership style and its limitations, while emphasizing the continued relevance of strategic thinking, stakeholder analysis, and resource management in complex organizations such as higher education. The analysis suggests that while some of Sun …

An Algorithm For Three-Dimensional Bubble Simulations And Analysis For Advanced Nuclear Propulsion, Pongkrit Darakorn Na Ayuthya
An Algorithm For Three-Dimensional Bubble Simulations And Analysis For Advanced Nuclear Propulsion, Pongkrit Darakorn Na Ayuthya
Dissertations
This dissertation presents the development of a predictive simulation framework for analyzing gas-liquid dynamics in Centrifugal Nuclear Thermal Propulsion (CNTP) systems, where hydrogen gas is injected into a rotating liquid uranium fuel core. Using Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH), a fully Lagrangian mesh-free method, this research models multiphase flow behavior under extreme conditions, capturing critical phenomena such as bubble formation, surface deformation, void fraction evolution, and rotational confinement. A novel modification to the liquid equation of state is introduced to mitigate SPH artifacts, improving fluid stability and enabling surface recovery after deformation. The model is validated against experimental data from static …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)

Human head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis) are medically significant ectoparasites due to their capacity to harbor pathogenic bacteria and the increasing prevalence of insecticide resistance. A total of 112 head lice specimens were collected from children in Ang Thong, central Thailand. Phylogenetic analysis of the mitochondrial cytb gene identified two well-supported clades, with clade A (69.2%) predominating over clade C (30.8%) in the studied population. Molecular screening revealed a high incidence of bacterial associations, with Staphylococcus aureus detected in 96.4% of specimens and Acinetobacter spp. in 2.7%. Furthermore, genotypic analysis of the voltage-sensitive sodium channel (VSSC) gene demonstrated a strikingly …
