Blockchain: A Practical Solution To Monitor Corporate Supply Chains, Gaige J. Graham
Blockchain: A Practical Solution To Monitor Corporate Supply Chains, Gaige J. Graham
Wyoming Law Review
The persistence of human rights abuses within the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)—particularly in the cobalt mining industry— underscore the failure of international labor protections and corporate due diligence. Despite the International Labor Organization and United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (Ruggie Principles), corporations continue to profit from child labor, forced labor, and unregulated artisanal mining. Existing accountability mechanisms, reliant on state enforcement and voluntary corporate compliance, have proven inadequate to address these labor issues. This Comment argues that blockchain technology offers a practical, scalable solution for supply chain transparency, capable of mitigating labor rights violations …

An Examination Of Athletics Department Culture And Job Satisfactory Of Executive Staff Members In Division I Ncaa Athletics Departments, Kyle Moyer
Master of Education in Applied Human Development Graduate Projects
College athletics has undergone some of the biggest changes in our society over the past decade. The experiences of fans and student-athletes have changed drastically. But how does that impact the experiences of athletic administrators working in sport? The ever-changing landscape means that employees must adapt to meet the current needs of the industry. Adaptation often involves discomfort, requiring time, energy, and resilience from those in the profession.

Short-term cold storage of amphibian sperm is a valuable technique for overcoming challenges associated with asynchronous gamete release during breeding events or for transferring sperm between institutions for genetic management. Unfortunately, sperm longevity declines over time even when kept cool. Maintaining sperm form and function is critical to achieving the highest possible fertilization rates. Thus, cold storage of amphibian sperm would benefit from the addition of compounds that could extend their quality, improve fertilization and result in more offspring. One such compound is bovine serum albumin (BSA), which provides membrane stabilization, prevents lipid peroxidation of cells, protects against free radical …
Literature Review: Investing In Early Childhood Education Pays Dividends, R'Riuna Moore, Callie Poole, Heather L. Hanna
Literature Review: Investing In Early Childhood Education Pays Dividends, R'Riuna Moore, Callie Poole, Heather L. Hanna
Endeavors: Mississippi State Undergraduate Research Journal
Early childhood education (ECE) programs, which include publicly sponsored pre-kindergarten, Head Start, and private child care centers, are vital to child development, family stability, and economic success. Benefits of early childhood education (ECE) include better lifetime wages, higher tax revenues, and less dependence on public assistance programs. Research has repeatedly shown that ECE offers a substantial return on investment (ROI). Federal funding for early childhood education is still scarce despite current data. This review of the literature looks at the long-term social, economic, and employment effects of ECE investments in the US, emphasizing how they can boost economic growth, increase …
Is Federal Question Jurisdiction Arising Or Setting, Lumen N. Mulligan
Is Federal Question Jurisdiction Arising Or Setting, Lumen N. Mulligan
Faculty Works
In this essay, I respond to Professor Arthur D. Hellman. Hellman argues that "there is reason to be concerned that the [federal] judicial system falls short of the Framers' expectations--primarily by denying many litigants in cases presenting federal questions 'their real day in an Article III court,' but also by fostering 'balkanization' rather than uniformity in the interpretation of federal law." It is a privilege to comment upon Hellman's thoughtful piece. In doing so, I begin by questioning the value of originalist interpretations of Article III jurisdiction both descriptively and normatively. I then turn to an intra-originalist critique that paints …
Sex-Specific Roles Of The Adipocyte Mineralocorticoid Receptor In Obesity And Early Life Stress, Meghan B. Turner
Sex-Specific Roles Of The Adipocyte Mineralocorticoid Receptor In Obesity And Early Life Stress, Meghan B. Turner
Theses and Dissertations--Pharmacology and Nutritional Sciences
Obesity is a burgeoning health epidemic caused by chronic overnutrition and exacerbated by genetic, environmental and developmental factors. The adipocyte mineralocorticoid receptor (MR), a transcriptionally active nuclear receptor, is speculated to contribute to metabolic dysfunction in the obese state. MR expression is increased in obese adipose tissue, and MR modulates the expression of fat-derived hormones such as leptin and adiponectin. In women, obesity can be exacerbated by early life stress, such as adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). Studies show that women display a positive association between cumulative ACE exposures and increased body mass index. Previously, we demonstrated that maternal separation and …

Online Inclusivity: Mission And Best Practice, Colin P. Marks, Zoe Niesel
Online Inclusivity: Mission And Best Practice, Colin P. Marks, Zoe Niesel
Faculty Works
This essay examines the role of inclusivity as a foundational principle in online legal education, arguing that it is essential to fulfilling institutional missions, aligning with established pedagogical best practices, and enhancing the overall learning experience. Drawing on the development of a fully online J.D. program, the piece outlines how inclusivity can be embedded at both the institutional and classroom levels. It highlights strategies for fostering a sense of community among geographically dispersed students, including integrating online learners into broader academic and co-curricular activities, designing courses that balance synchronous and asynchronous instruction, and implementing consistent instructional standards. The essay further …
Defining The Field Of Wellness Law, Barbara Zabawa
Defining The Field Of Wellness Law, Barbara Zabawa
Faculty Works
Some lawyers practice “wellness law” without knowing what it is and how it differs from more recognized fields of practice such as health law, public health law, and medical malpractice. This article defines the field of wellness law using in a prescriptive manner the organizational framework that identifies the common and distinctive patterns in wellness and the law that surrounds it. This examination entails reviewing statutes and cases that differentiate between conventional health care and products or services outside of it to identify the core problems that are common and unique to wellness law. Those core problems are twofold. First, …

Nothing Short Of Superheroic: A Quantitative Study Of Lifetime Exposure To Superhero Comic Book Media As A Predictor Of Attitudes Towards Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion, Michael Nguyen
Theses and Dissertations--Educational Leadership Studies
This dissertation examined the relationship between lifetime exposure to superhero comic book media and attitudes toward diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). Drawing on theories of identity formation—transitional objects, parasocial relationships, and cultivation theory—it investigated whether engagement with superhero narratives predicted DEI attitudes. Using quantitative methods, data from 499 U.S. adults were collected via Qualtrics. Two instruments were used: the Lifetime Superhero Comic Book Media Exposure Scale (LSES) and the Intolerant Schema Measure (ISM), which assessed prejudice across race, gender, sexuality, class, age, and religion. Multiple linear regression revealed that superhero media exposure significantly predicted ISM scores (B = 0.118, …
Exploring The Collective Efficacy Of Elementary Special Education Teachers And Its Relationship To Distributed Leadership, Emma L. Jones
Exploring The Collective Efficacy Of Elementary Special Education Teachers And Its Relationship To Distributed Leadership, Emma L. Jones
Theses and Dissertations--Educational Leadership Studies
This study examined the relationship between collective teacher efficacy (CTE) and distributed leadership practices among elementary special education teachers. CTE reflects teachers’ shared belief in their collective ability to improve student outcomes, while distributed leadership emphasizes shared decision-making, collaboration, and shared responsibility across school personnel.
Using a sequential explanatory mixed-methods design, the study combined survey data from the Collective Teacher Belief Scale with follow-up interviews. Survey results from 31 special education teachers indicated moderate to high levels of CTE, with slightly greater confidence in managing student behavior than in delivering instruction. Interviews with teachers across varying CTE levels provided deeper …
Molecular Mechanism Of Vibrio Cholerae Biofilm Adhesion, Xin Huang
Molecular Mechanism Of Vibrio Cholerae Biofilm Adhesion, Xin Huang
Yale Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Dissertations
Bacterial biofilms are surface-attached communities of bacterial cells enclosed in an extracellular matrix formed on environmental surfaces and host tissues. Biofilm formation represents a common strategy in facilitating host colonization and infection by human pathogens, and the polymeric matrix provides a mechanism for drug and host immune resistance by acting as a barrier around biofilm-dwelling cells. Bacteria often express multiple adhesive proteins (adhesins), but it is often unclear whether adhesins have specialized or redundant roles. Here, we combine mutagenesis, biochemistry, single-cell imaging, and bioinformatics to show how Vibrio cholerae, the causal agent of pandemic cholera, uses two biofilm-specific adhesins …
No Detected Signal Of The 2022 Epizootic From Multiannual Diadema Antillarum Settlement Data In The Florida Keys, Jason Albrecht
No Detected Signal Of The 2022 Epizootic From Multiannual Diadema Antillarum Settlement Data In The Florida Keys, Jason Albrecht
Theses, Dissertations and Culminating Projects
The sea urchin Diadema antillarum is a key coral reef grazer that remains functionally extinct on many Caribbean reefs following a mass mortality event in 1983–84. In 2022, another widespread mortality event, likely caused by a scuticociliate parasite, again decimated D. antillarum at reefs across the Caribbean. Understanding the population-level impacts of this recent epizootic will be important for coral reef conservation efforts. This study examines multi-year larval settlement data from the Florida Keys to determine if the 2022 mortality event reduced larval settlement. Larval settlement was assessed monthly at three long-term monitoring sites (Delta Shoal, Tennessee Reef, and Pickles …
