Enlisting Volunteers In Ministry, Jerry Louis Fore
Enlisting Volunteers In Ministry, Jerry Louis Fore
Doctor of Ministry Projects
Problem
Involving church members in ministry annually challenges church leaders. To meet this demand within the Seventh-day Adventist church, a committee typically nominates church members to fill prescribed offices—places of need. Filling offices, however, too often causes a committee to overlook some people or to mismatch interests, talents, and tasks.
Method
While serving the Kansas City Central Church as senior pastor, I introduced a Bible-based process to involve members' gifts and talents in ministry. Using trained interviewers in this one-year pilot project, members became involved after matching their talents and interests with tasks. After the church approved the project, I …

The Influence Of Expert Status And Learning Style Preference On Critical Thinking Abilities Of Professional Nurses., Cynthia Ann Ofstad Prestholdt
LSU Historical Dissertations and Theses
The primary purpose of this study was to compare novice, experienced, and expert professional nurses in terms of their critical thinking ability. The study also sought to identify the influence of selected individual characteristics on the critical thinking ability of professional nurses. Three samples of professional nurses, representing three levels of experience and skill, were selected for use in this study. Subjects included a convenience sample of 38 novice nurses (graduating seniors in a generic baccalaureate nursing program), 42 randomly selected experienced nurses, and a purposive sample of 48 expert nurses recognized as exemplary by their peers. A three-part instrument …

Ubi Lex? Robert Grosseteste’S Discussion Of Law, Letter, And Time And Its Musical Exemplification, Nancy Van Deusen
Ubi Lex? Robert Grosseteste’S Discussion Of Law, Letter, And Time And Its Musical Exemplification, Nancy Van Deusen
University of Dayton Review
Ubi interrogatio, ibi lex: Wherever you look the law is there, stated Augustine forcefully and clearly in his commentary to the fifty-seventh (58) Psalm, verse 2: Si vere utique iusticiam loquimini, recte iudicate, filii hominum. (Do ye indeed speak righteousness? Judge uprightly, O ye sons of men.) Augustine's commentary to this verse articulates a problem and an opposition. It is a powerful passage which sets forth a compelling picture of the fugitive, not from the law, but from his own heart. The conclusion to Augustine's discussion is simple and personal: to identify the law is to reinstate one's own person. …
Κοινo͂Nia: The Biblical Proclamation Of Κοινo͂Nia And Its Relationship To The Proclamation And Celebration Of The Lord's Supper, Gregory Seltz
Κοινo͂Nia: The Biblical Proclamation Of Κοινo͂Nia And Its Relationship To The Proclamation And Celebration Of The Lord's Supper, Gregory Seltz
Master of Sacred Theology Thesis
"Fellowship." What does it mean? How is one to “achieve" it? Or, does one achieve it at all? What are the modern views concerning koin ͂οnia and do they parallel Paul’s use of the term in his writings? Where is the koin ͂οnia hall in the church? Pastors, theologians and lay people alike are challenged to answer these questions, either overtly or subtly, for true faith looks to root itself on solid, common, KOINON, ground. The task of this study is to pursue clarity regarding koin ͂οnia which may help in recognizing when it is spoken of in lesser, other, …

An Outcome Assessment: The Use Of Greek In Ministry, Blair A. Yager
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
This Thesis Project analyzes the use of Greek in ministry by Bachelor of Arts graduates of Roanoke Bible College (RBC). The author presents a defense of the value of Greek to ministry in the areas of preaching and teaching, hermeneutics, exegesis, and word studies. The Project's aim is to improve the Greek courses. A survey was distributed to alumni of RBC which determined areas where Greek is used in their ministries. This project is a part of on-going evaluation and outcomes assessment at Roanoke Bible College. Course objectives of the Greek classes taught are related to the Mission statement of …
The Role Of Laughter In The Thought Of Friedrich Nietzsche, Paul D. Gerdes
The Role Of Laughter In The Thought Of Friedrich Nietzsche, Paul D. Gerdes
Institute for the Humanities Theses
The objective of this thesis is an analysis of the role of laughter in the thought of Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900), by which I mean both its influence on his intellectual development, and the incorporation of it in his philosophy. Such an undertaking is important because, while it might seem somewhat odd for a philosopher, and particularly a German philosopher, to consider laughter fundamental to his thought, laughter does play an essential role in all of Nietzsche's writing.
For the purposes of this thesis, I will investigate three separate but interrelated aspects of Nietzsche's thought: the influence of the Dionysian tragic-comic …

The Anchor, Volume 107.17: February 9, 1994, Hope College
The Anchor: 1994
The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Opinion: In The Case Of Martha Nussbaum, Gerard V. Bradley
Journal Articles
From the article, "This is the story of Martha Nussbaum's part in the Colorado trial [Amendment 2 adopted Nov. 1992]. The reader will want to keep in mind the distinction between advocacy and scholarship, assuming there is still such a distinction in the contemporary academy. Equally important for this story are distinctions between misstatement, misrepresentation, and deliberate falsehood."

Comparison Of The Effects Of Inhaled Asthma Medications On Vocal Quality Measures, Andrew J. Chenowith
Dissertations and Theses @ UNI
Asthma is an inflammatory disease of the lungs and upper respiratory tree. As such, it has been shown to interfere with respiration resulting in lower vital capacities, prolonged inspirations, short expirations, coughing, wheezing and multitude of other symptoms. Speech and voice symptoms have been described including short phrases, reduced loudness, hoarseness, and low pitch. Medical treatments for asthma include a variety of anti inflammatory agents as well as bronchodiolators. By far, most anti inflammatory agents used today include inhaled corticosteroid medications. While oral corticosteroid management of asthma produced symptom relief, the adverse side effects ranging from mood changes, voice change, …
