Elastoplastic Stress Analysis Of Multi-Refrigerant Combined Heterogeneous Artificial Frozen Wall, Wang Bin, Liang Xiuling, Zhang Zihao, Cai Haibing, Rong Chuanxin

Coal Geology & Exploration

Objective Affected by the temperature difference of the refrigerant and the distance difference between the frozen formation and the freezing pipes, the heterogeneity of the multi-refrigerant combined double-row-pipe frozen wall is more significant. In order to evaluate the safety of such frozen wall reasonably, the elastic plastic stress analysis should be carried out for the artificial frozen wall with multi-refrigerant considering the heterogeneity. Methods The frozen wall at 1/4 pipe distance was selected as the characteristic section. Then, the temperature distribution curve on this section was equivalently converted to three linear functions, and the frozen wall was regarded as a …

Optical Lens Attack On Deep Learning Based Monocular Depth Estimation, Ce Zhou, Qiben Yan, Daniel Kent, Guangjing Wang, Ziqi Zhang, Haydar Radha

Computer Science Faculty Research & Creative Works

Monocular Depth Estimation (MDE) plays a crucial role in vision-based Autonomous Driving (AD) systems. It utilizes a singlecamera image to determine the depth of objects, facilitating driving decisions such as braking a few meters in front of a detected obstacle or changing lanes to avoid collision. In this paper, we investigate the security risks associated with monocular vision-based depth estimation algorithms utilized by AD systems. By exploiting the vulnerabilities of MDE and the principles of optical lenses, we introduce 𝐿𝑒𝑛𝑠𝐴𝑡𝑡𝑎𝑐𝑘, a physical attack that involves strategically placing optical lenses on the camera of an autonomous vehicle to manipulate the perceived …

Enhancing English Language Proficiency At Vocational Education Schools Through The Implementation Of Language Learning Strategies, Nadhim Madhloom Hashim Ali

Uruk Journal of Human Sciences

The current study explores the impact of teaching English language in a vocational education context by evaluating the implementation of language learning strategies (LLS) by using a TOEFL mock test. To accomplish the aims of this study, 80 students from Vocational Education Schools (VES) were engaged to respond to the Oxford Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (OSILL). The findings indicate that the differences between gender and the six parts of OSILL reveal that neither males nor females are statistically significant in any of these strategies when employed in academic English learning contexts; The significance value is p<0.05. A strong positive correlation exists between the two parts of OSILL strategies and English language proficiency. Memory strategies significantly correlate with the language proficiency of the (TOEFL).

The Semiotics Of Psychological States In International Players' Face Expressions During Qatar World Cup 2022, Mohammed Sami A-Assadi, Iman Mingher Obied

Uruk Journal of Human Sciences

This study aims at applying the social semiotic theory of universal micro-expressions in international players' facial expressions during Qatar World Cup 2022. The research analyzes four basic different facial expressions (sadness, happiness, anger and surprise) at the level of similarity and some other emotions at the level of difference. Relying on Ekman's model of semiotic micro-expressions of emotion, the findings of the data analysis show that the social semiotic approach is highly effective in showing how emotions in sports contexts can be revealed and indicated through facial expressions of players and how there are similarities and differences among them reflecting …

Because Of Who We Are: A Fresh Perspective On Calvin’S Doctrine Of The Image Of God And Human Dignity, Sam Neulsaem Ha Sep 2024

Because Of Who We Are: A Fresh Perspective On Calvin’S Doctrine Of The Image Of God And Human Dignity, Sam Neulsaem Ha

University Faculty Publications and Creative Works

Scholars have connected Calvin’s idea of the imago Dei with the modern concept of inherent human dignity. Others have emphasized how Calvin tried to use the image of God to promote the significance of human dignity without connecting it with political theories. These arguments may be justifiable to some extent. However, my concern is that these scholars focus on the image of God in others rather than on how it transforms individuals who live out its renewal. For Calvin, the restoration of the image of God by the Holy Spirit aimed at enabling a holy and righteous life. In his …

Turkish Journal of Botany

The campos rupestres, ecosystems that are both unique and highly diverse, are home to a variety of endemic species, including Comanthera bisulcata (Eriocaulaceae). This species, of economic importance, has its inflorescences used in handicrafts due to the fact that they retain the appearance of living structures even after being harvested and dried. The trade of these inflorescences depends almost exclusively on extraction, an activity of great importance for the traditional communities of the Espinhaço Meridional municipalities, in Minas Gerais. However, research is essential to improve the management of this native species. In this study, we highlight the importance of pollination …

Exploring Spouses And Significant Others Of Registrants Social Support While Navigating Possible Challenges With The Sex Offender Registry, Audrey Y. Smith

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Individuals convicted of sex offenses who require registration with criminal justice authorities are called registrants. Spouses and significant others of registrants suffer many of the same collateral consequences because of their association with the registrant. The purpose of this generic qualitative study was to understand the perceptions held by spouses and significant others of sex offender registrants regarding their social support and support engagement when navigating through the impact of the sex offender registry. The theoretical framework for this study was Doka’s disenfranchised grief theory. The data were collected from six anonymous individuals who were spouses or significant others of …
