High-grade gliomas (HGGs) are aggressive brain tumors with poor prognosis, driven in part by metabolic and epigenetic adaptations. Methionine metabolism supports HGG growth by supplying S-adenosylmethionine for methylation reactions, yet how nutrient availability influences chromatin organization in HGG remains incompletely understood. Using an immunocompetent mouse model of HGG, we found that dietary methionine restriction reduced tumor proliferation, extended survival, and induced partial nuclear inversion. We identified Hp1bp3 as a key regulator of tumor growth that functions by interacting with nuclear tethering proteins to mediate chromatin reorganization. Loss of Hp1bp3 results in the upregulation of histone demethylases leading to selective depletion …

Background & aims: Clinical data show that genetic variants are significant risk factors for acute recurrent pancreatitis and chronic pancreatitis. To expand the understanding of the role of genetics in acute recurrent pancreatitis and chronic pancreatitis, high-throughput next-generation sequencing of 14 genes was completed in a multicenter pediatric cohort.

Methods: A cross-sectional study involving 944 pediatric patients with acute recurrent pancreatitis or chronic pancreatitis was conducted. CASR, CEL, CFTR, CLDN2, CPA1, CTRC, GGT1, PRSS1, PRSS2, PRSS3, SBDS, SLC26A9, SPINK1, and UBR1 were sequenced. The frequencies of identified variants were compared with frequencies in the genome aggregation database. Group differences were …

Comparative Effectiveness Of Olmesartan Medoxomil In Monotherapy And Combination Therapy With Other Arb Medications: Literature Review, Deepika Saini Jun 2026

Comparative Effectiveness Of Olmesartan Medoxomil In Monotherapy And Combination Therapy With Other Arb Medications: Literature Review, Deepika Saini

University Honors Theses

Hypertension remains one of the leading health issues; however, the awareness and control remain limited, with approximately 1.4 billion people affected by hypertension, yet only one in five has the condition effectively controlled. Despite the availability of effective treatments, knowledge and awareness remain limited. Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) are widely used antihypertensive medications because of their efficacy and safety profiles. Among these, Olmesartan Medoxomil has emerged as a prominent option, demonstrating strong efficacy in lowering blood pressure, both as monotherapy and in combination with other antihypertensive agents.

This thesis examines the comparative effectiveness of Olmesartan Medoxomil versus other ARBs …

Perception And Identity Through The Deconstruction Of Images, Ember Gulden Jun 2026

Perception And Identity Through The Deconstruction Of Images, Ember Gulden

University Honors Theses

Human lives are informed by images, which allow us to understand a moment from the past while transforming the way we remember it. A photograph is a representation of what was physically in front of a camera. However, the image after its capture holds no singular identity and is malleable, similar to memory. I use photography and mixed-media collage in my artistic practice to explore how perception and identity is affected by the images we consume. My BFA project "This Doesn't Have To Be The End" examines the complex nature of identity through the transformation of personal photographs into pixel-like …

Junk Journaling For Graphic Designers: Analog Play & Process In An Increasingly Digital Design Landscape, Kristina Rosgen

University Honors Theses

This thesis explores junk journaling as an accessible analog practice for young graphic designers experiencing digital fatigue, creative stress, and perfectionism. Through historical research, a hands-on workshop, and an interactive Readymag website, the project shows how junk journaling can help designers reconnect with play, process, physical materials, and the joy of making.

A System For The Prediction Of Election Results Using Vader And Hybridized Machine Learning Model, Abraham E. Evwiekpaefe, Khadijah Kabir, Georgina N. Obunadike Jun 2026

A System For The Prediction Of Election Results Using Vader And Hybridized Machine Learning Model, Abraham E. Evwiekpaefe, Khadijah Kabir, Georgina N. Obunadike

Tanzania Journal of Science

Integrating different classifiers along with sentiment lexicons like Vader, can enhance the performance of sentiment analysis systems. However, such a hybrid model remains underexplored, particularly in the context of regional elections in developing countries like Nigeria. The aim of this research is to develop a hybrid model that combines three machine learning classifiers and Vader lexicon to possibly achieve a higher accuracy. A case study of the 2023 governorship election in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo State, Nigeria was examined. Twitter API library was utilized to extracted public and personal tweets using hashtags and keywords related to the target data from …

Integral Education, Institutional Solidarity: A Response To Arturo Sosa’S 2025 Iaju Address, Paul L. Lynch

Jesuit Higher Education: A Journal

During the 2025 meeting of the International Association of Jesuit Universities (IAJU) at the Pontifica Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia, Jesuit Superior General Arturo Sosa offered the keynote address, “The Jesuit University: Witness to Hope, Creative and Dialogical Presence.” He urged the global university apostolate to respond to our common challenges: the climate crisis, political reactionism, institutional mistrust, and economic inequality. The Jesuit university, he insisted, must reimagine itself in order to respond to these threats. But the precise manner in which Jesuit universities should respond must still be articulated. This essay begins that project. It opens with an analysis …

Documenting Patterns Of Spring And Autumn Bird Bigration At Phillips Tract Research Area, A Stopover Site In The American Midwest, Janice K. Enos, Michael R. Avara, Tara A. Beveroth

North American Bird Bander

Stopover habitat, which is used by birds during migration to rest and refuel, is scarce in the American Midwest due to intensive agriculture. Protected woodlots and other small parcels of habitat do exist in the landscape, and may be important for migratory birds to utilize as stopover sites. Here, using mist netting techniques, we documented abundance and age specific patterns of spring and autumn migration at Phillips Tract Research Area, a protected parcel of land comprised of woodlots and mixed grassland plots. We found that 69 migratory species use this site as stopover habitat, and the most common (n ≥ …

Ai-Based Scaffolding Deficiency Detection As A Proactive Construction Safety Intervention: A Conceptual Review Of Methodological Approaches, Adetayo Onososen, Innocent Musonda Jun 2026

Ai-Based Scaffolding Deficiency Detection As A Proactive Construction Safety Intervention: A Conceptual Review Of Methodological Approaches, Adetayo Onososen, Innocent Musonda

CIB Conferences

Falls from height and structural collapse associated with scaffolding remain among the most persistent contributors to construction fatalities worldwide, and the problem is sharper still in resource-constrained settings where inspection capacity is thin on the ground. This paper sets out a conceptual outline for an AI-based scaffolding deficiency detection system designed as a proactive safety intervention rather than a post-incident diagnostic. Drawing on a thematic review of computer vision methods applied to scaffolding inspection between 2019 and 2026, the study maps what has been tried, where the evidence converges, and where it still falls short. Four structural deficiency classes grounded …
