Background: Erdafitinib is approved for locally advanced/metastatic urothelial cancer (LA/mUC). As enfortumab vedotin (EV) plus pembrolizumab enters frontline management, outcomes with erdafitinib pre- and post-EV are clinically relevant but not specifically evaluated in clinical trials.
Methods: UNITE is a multi-institutional retrospective study of patients with LA/mUC treated with novel targeted agents. All patients with FGFR3 alterations treated with EV only, erdafitinib then EV (Erda->EV), and EV then erdafitinib (EV->Erda) were included. Sequential treatment with EV and Erda was not required. Primary endpoints were observed response rates (ORR) and progression-free survival (PFS); secondary endpoint was overall survival (OS).

Human noroviruses (HuNoVs), especially GII.4 strains, are the leading cause of acute viral gastroenteritis worldwide, yet no approved vaccines or antivirals exist. The pandemic GII.4 Sydney 2012 strain enters cells via membrane wounding and clathrin-independent carrier-mediated endocytosis, but it is unclear whether this entry mechanism is conserved across GII.4 variants. We compared early binding and entry of multiple GII.4 variants using wild-type and mutant GII.4 virus-like particles (VLPs) and modified human intestinal enteroid cultures. Only a subset of GII.4 variants, including GII.4 Sydney, form distinct, histo-blood group antigen (HBGA)-dependent capsid clusters on the cell surface. Clustering strains display significantly enhanced …

The ryanodine receptor 1 (RYR1) is the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) Ca2+ release channel required for both skeletal muscle contraction and Ca2+ leak. Mutations in RYR1 cause malignant hyperthermia susceptibility (MHS) and enhanced sensitivity to heat stroke (ESHS), which can result in death due to excessive skeletal muscle thermogenesis upon exposure to volatile anesthetics or heat. Here, we investigated the molecular and physiological functions of phosphorylation of RYR1 at Ser2902 by the kinase SPEG (striated muscle preferentially expressed protein). Muscle from SPEG-deficient mice expressing RYR1 with a Ser2902 →Asp2902 (S2902D) point mutation to mimic phosphorylation by SPEG showed decreased SR Ca2+ …
Film Review: A Feminist Critique Of The Representation Of Women In 21st-Century Bollywood Sports Biopics, Amitabh Roy
Film Review: A Feminist Critique Of The Representation Of Women In 21st-Century Bollywood Sports Biopics, Amitabh Roy
Journal of International Women's Studies
This review critically analyses the portrayal of women in Bollywood sports biopics using a feminist perspective, with reference to three influential 21st-century films: Mary Kom (2014), Saina (2021), and Shabaash Mithu (2022). While these movies ostensibly celebrate women’s sporting achievements, a close reading discloses the durability of patriarchal currents in the narrative, visual composition, and character construction. Using feminist theories like Laura Mulvey’s “male gaze,” Judith Butler’s “gender performativity,” and bell hooks’s intersectionality, this work contends that these films simultaneously empower and limit their heroines. Exploring how femininity, family, and national pride are performed in these films, this review examines …
Revisiting “Autobiographical Reflections: My Story”: A Reflection On The Unspoken And Misconveyed, Ronak Karami
Revisiting “Autobiographical Reflections: My Story”: A Reflection On The Unspoken And Misconveyed, Ronak Karami
Journal of International Women's Studies
This piece revisits and reflects on my feminist essay, “Autobiographical Reflections: My Story” (2020), published in the Journal of International Women's Studies. With the benefit of years of growth and introspection, I return to that work and see more than the story I once told. I now notice the silences between the lines, the nuances I overlooked, and the unintended messages my words may have carried. This reflection is not an attempt to erase my truth but rather an effort to revisit and refine it—to provide, within the confines of a few pages, greater clarity, accountability, and context where …
Between Mothers And Daughters: Female Isolation, Despotism And Fragile Bonds In Anthony Trollope’S "Castle Richmond" And "Lady Anna", Aleksandra Tryniecka
Between Mothers And Daughters: Female Isolation, Despotism And Fragile Bonds In Anthony Trollope’S "Castle Richmond" And "Lady Anna", Aleksandra Tryniecka
Journal of International Women's Studies
Analyzing the dialogue in Anthony Trollope’s nineteenth-century novels Castle Richmond and Lady Anna reveals portrayals of mother-daughter conflicts that span throughout generations and carry profound societal consequences. In both novels, the mothers are depicted as ambivalent figures who simultaneously play the roles of both victim and oppressor. Relentlessly striving to redeem their past, the despotic mothers intimidate their daughters into accepting socially beneficial marriage arrangements. Using Bakhtin’s notion of dialogism, I present how in both novels, the younger generation (the daughters) adopt a fresh system of social values, which gradually results in a change in Victorian society of the second …

Undoing Gender Performativities In Nawal El Saadawi’S Woman At Point Zero, Tobe Levin Von Gleichen, U. H. Ruhina Jesmin, Tasnuva Khair
Journal of International Women's Studies
Physician, psychiatrist, and Marxist activist for women’s rights, Nawal El Saadawi (1931-2021) published fiction and non-fiction exposing how a capitalistic, phallocratic social order keeps Egyptian women in thrall to men through violent suppression. Women are exploited by men, who see women as weak and prey on these presumed docile subordinates in a display of masculinity. Deciphering the effects of this gendered performativity through the lens of Judith Butler, El Saadawi’s novel Woman at Point Zero (1977/2015a), or Ferdaous, une Voix en Enfer (El Saadawi, 1977/2007) in French, provides a narrative whose significance is amplified by Butlerian theory. The protagonist, …

Reframing Evaluation And “Frameworks”: Reflecting, Learning And Adapting Practices Of Social Change, Sarah Kushinsky, Yoko Akama, Ko-Le Chen, Hirotake Imanishi, Yuko Kikuchi, Sarah Teasley, Khemmiga Teerapong, Joyce Yee
ServDes Conference Series
Evaluation is a double-edged sword. For those invested in social change, it is vital to evaluate the process and impact of designing. However, traditional positivist approaches can risk harm by magnifying power through the instruments and mechanisms of evaluation, especially when Global North models are unthinkingly applied in the Global South. What is deemed valuable to know – without asking what matters to whom, how, where and when – is an ethical and political concern as it ignores how people are variously situated. This paper argues for building evaluative capacities otherwise. It shares key insights by tracing how an evaluative …
Adopting A Diffractive Approach To Journey Mapping In The Exploration Of Scaling Citizen Assemblies In Sweden, Christina M.K. Lindeberg, Nicola Morelli, Luca Simeone
Adopting A Diffractive Approach To Journey Mapping In The Exploration Of Scaling Citizen Assemblies In Sweden, Christina M.K. Lindeberg, Nicola Morelli, Luca Simeone
ServDes Conference Series
Scaling citizen assemblies to increase their impact on sustainable transitions requires situated knowledges. Whilst service design methods can support local governments in working with situated knowledges, there has been a call for more reflection on their application. In contrast to reflection, the feminist metaphor of diffraction enables greater relationality, complexity, and impact within research; yet it remains a novel approach. This paper presents an experiment with participants of a city-level citizen assembly in Sweden. During the experiment, journey mapping was used within a diffraction apparatus, and diffractive reading enabled the collective exploration of barriers to and opportunities for scaling citizen …

Introduction:
Sleep plays a crucial role in memory consolidation, not only stabilizing newly encoded information but also potentially supporting forgetting. Yet it remains unclear how sleep prioritizes what is retained or discarded when multiple salience cues, such as emotional valence and top-down instructional goals, compete for consolidation.
Methods:
In two studies, we examined how emotional content and intentional memory instruction interact to shape memory performance across a 12 h interval that included either nocturnal sleep or wakefulness. Participants completed a directed forgetting paradigm with neutral and negatively valenced words, followed by immediate recognition and delayed free recall.

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Older adults are at an increased risk of mortality during hazardous emergencies; therefore, it is crucial to comprehend how current emergency preparedness policies are related to preparedness perceptions of older adults. Findings in recent literature identified the underrepresentation of older adults in Emergency Preparedness studies across all areas and Counties of the state of Florida as a gap that needs to be addressed. The purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to examine the relationship between the 2023 FEMA policy on emergency preparedness and the self-reported degree of preparedness among Florida’s older adult residents in urban and rural areas across …

Alloplastic implants emphasize the importance of a comprehensive understanding of both clinical and histological aspects, which are attributed to enhancing patient satisfaction and surgical success rates. The study aims to assess the viability of different implant materials and their related risks over time. A systematic literature search was conducted across multiple databases, including PubMed, Cochrane, and EBSCOhost, to identify 79 records. After eliminating duplicates and applying specific inclusion and exclusion criteria, four new studies were included for evaluation, focusing on postoperative outcomes related to alloplastic implants in rhinoplasty. Late-onset inflammation in non-healthy capsules required removal and showed histological damage. One …
