Telepsychiatry For Substance Use Disorders: Evolution From Rapid Covid-19 Pandemic Adoption To Sustainable Integration, Jack Wang
Marshall Journal of Medicine
ABSTRACT
Introduction: Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, telepsychiatry for substance use disorder (SUD) management was generally an underutilized modality, mainly due to regulatory constraints. Through the pandemic, governmental deregulations rapidly and massively expanded their adoption, bringing out their significant potential to expand access, overcome barriers, and mitigate stigma for individuals seeking addiction care, particularly for rural and underserved populations. This narrative review consolidates the recent research on the growing adoption of telepsychiatry in the management of SUDs. It aims to explore the evidence-based benefits, identify common challenges, and underscore key considerations for its effective and equitable integration into SUD treatment …

Ai-Based Ambient Tutoring Via Generative Correction Of Spoken Language, Alexander Williams
Ai-Based Ambient Tutoring Via Generative Correction Of Spoken Language, Alexander Williams
Defensive Publications Series
Some technology-assisted language learning tools may involve structured, explicit study sessions separate from a user's daily activities. This disclosure describes an ambient language tutoring approach. A computing device, such as a smartphone, smart watch, wearable device, or augmented reality glasses, can be placed by the user into a tutoring mode. In this mode, the device uses a microphone to capture spoken utterances from the user in a target language. An artificial intelligence model may analyze the transcribed speech to identify potential grammatical, syntactical, or lexical errors. Based on this analysis, the model can generatively create a corrected, contextually appropriate version …

International Journal on Responsibility
Unaccompanied children and adolescents who migrate from Central America and Mexico into the United States (U.S.) are exposed to and experience trauma throughout the process of migration. These traumatic experiences result in an increasing prevalence of psychiatric illnesses and challenges to treatment. This study presents a psychiatric patient record review of minors and their complex trauma. Unaccompanied migrant minors (UMM) ages 12-17 (28 males and 22 females; n = 50) received comprehensive psychiatric assessments at the El Paso Texas Tech Child and Adolescent Psychiatry outpatient clinic. Their charts were reviewed for psychiatric diagnosis, treatment progress, and trauma experiences before, during, …

From "Pata Pata" To Come Back, Africa: Miriam Makeba And Her Fight Against Apartheid, 1953-1990, Maddie Heiser
Journal of Undergraduate Research at Minnesota State University, Mankato
Perhaps one of the most notorious periods in African history was that of Apartheid – a system of racial, political, social, and economic discrimination placed upon the non-white majority of South Africa. Beginning in 1948 and lasting until the early 1990s, Apartheid marked a significant transformation in not only African liberation movements but also those happening across the globe, including the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. While the efforts to overcome Apartheid and empower the overall messages of African liberation and solidarity are well-documented, there are several methods of achieving these goals that have been unfortunately overlooked. Figures …

The El Mozote Massacre Of 1981: Central American Human Rights And United States Cold War Policy, Abbey Botko
Journal of Undergraduate Research at Minnesota State University, Mankato
This research explores the motivations behind the denial of the 1981 El Mozote Massacre in El Salvador. In this event, the US-backed Atlácatl battalion of the Salvadoran Army brutally killed over 500 Indigenous peoples in the department of Morazán. Despite multiple eyewitness accounts of the massacre, both the United States and Salvadoran governments repeatedly denied responsibility for the event.
This project is based on official US governmental documents from the Central Intelligence Agency, Department of Defense, Department of State, and Congress. These documents illuminate conversations within the government concerning knowledge about the massacre, plans for continuing foreign aid, and further …

This case series explores the innovative applications and value analysis driven by AIGC (AI-generated content) technology from the perspective of early-stage investments in the Chinese market. We analyse the influence of core factors such as technology progression, market demand, policy environment, industry cycles and data on AIGC-driven value creation; case studies are provided to illustrate how AIGC has varying applications across different industries depending on market conditions. This series contains four cases: first, we first explore the investment opportunities of AIGC by combining the core technological value and industrial application status of generative AI, using China’s energy industry as a …
Living Property, Joseph William Singer
Living Property, Joseph William Singer
Seattle University Law Review
The Supreme Court has increasingly defined property rights that are per se exempt from regulation in the absence of compensation, most recently in Cedar Point Nursery v. Hassid (2021) and Tyler v. Hennepin County (2023). The Court claims that it can identify property rights that are categorically protected from regulation by reference to history, tradition, and precedent. Yet this approach is oddly ahistorical; it is inconsistent with the fact that property law changed dramatically over U.S. history, as well as varying tremendously among the states. It is also inconsistent with the historical context of the Founding era. At that time, …
The Roots Of Credit Inequality, Andrea Freeman
The Roots Of Credit Inequality, Andrea Freeman
Seattle University Law Review
Debt oppression began before the United States became a country. Settlers enslaved Africans and Indigenous people, treating them as property that they could buy and sell for their economic and personal benefit. When enslavement became illegal, new economic systems and laws that included sharecropping, Black Codes, and Jim Crow kept Black people in servitude. Laws that prohibited enslaved people from owning property or selling goods to white people evolved into restrictions on Black people’s occupations and market participation, both formal and informal. When Black entrepreneurs overcame these obstacles and built wealth within Black business enclaves, white people enforced their racist …

Analyzing Surface Spectral Signature Shifts In Fire-Affected Areas Of Elko County Nevada, Ibtihaj Ahmad, Haroon Stephen
Civil and Environmental Engineering and Construction Faculty Research
This study investigates post-fire vegetation transitions and spectral responses in the Snowstorm Fire (2017) and South Sugarloaf Fire (2018) in Nevada using Landsat 8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) surface reflectance imagery and unsupervised ISODATA classification. By comparing pre-fire and post-fire conditions, we have assessed changes in vegetation composition, spectral signatures, and the emergence of novel land cover types. The results revealed widespread conversion of shrubland and conifer-dominated systems to herbaceous cover with significant reductions in near-infrared reflectance and elevated shortwave infrared responses, indicative of vegetation loss and surface alteration. In the South Sugarloaf Fire, three new spectral classes emerged post-fire, …

Research Question: This study explores how professional women soccer players in the U.S. perceived the role of institutional actors in value co-creation during a pivotal period in the sport’s development. It examines the marketing responsibilities players were expected to undertake and how this labor shaped their experiences and self-perceptions. Research Methods: Guided by value co-creation and value realization frameworks, this study draws on semi-structured interviews with 22 current and former professional women soccer players. Data were analyzed in two stages: first cycle coding, followed by pattern coding to consolidate labor themes into constructs reflecting athletes’ experiences of institutional support, promotional …
Structure And Legitimation In Capitalism: Law, Power, And Justice In Market Society, Yochai Benkler
Structure And Legitimation In Capitalism: Law, Power, And Justice In Market Society, Yochai Benkler
Law and Contemporary Problems
This article introduces a new institutional political economy of capitalism that explains the distinctive dynamics that drive sustained productivity growth, recurring social dislocation, and persistent patterns of exploitation in modern market societies. It then analyzes the role of law in structuring social relations of production in capitalism and legitimating those structures so as to stabilize the asymmetric social relations they create. Law structures social relations of production by allocating control over labor, knowledge, natural resources, and technology, as used for purposes of both subsistence and market-oriented production, as well coordination and cooperation in labor and investment processes, access to means …

Literature Across Generations; The Old Javanese Epic Poem "Bhāratayuddha" Translated Into Modern Javanese, Keiko Kamiishi
Wacana, Journal of the Humanities of Indonesia
In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, a revival movement of classical Javanese (Kawi) literature arose in the royal courts of south Central Java. As part of this revival, Old Javanese literary works were rewritten in Modern Javanese, giving Javanese people at that time renewed access to their literary heritage. The paper deals with a specific manuscript, Add MS 12279 in the British Library, which contains Modern Javanese word-for-word and line-for-line “translations” inserted between lines of the Old Javanese epic poem Bhāratayuddha. The unique structure of the manuscript reveals the translation strategies used to address the challenges of balancing the …

Background: Children and youth often have challenges processing and integrating sensory information. These increasingly common challenges and can significantly impact development, learning, behavior, well-being, and participation in everyday activities. Since children with sensory integration challenges, with or without other concerns, are likely to present first to their primary care provider (PCP), it is important that they have resources about sensory integration challenges and their impact on the child or the need to refer these children for further assessment and intervention. Our aim is to assist PCPs in their clinical decision-making.
Methods: We conducted a narrative review of CINAHL, PsychInfo, and …

Upkeeping A Religious Foundation From Time To Time; A Case Study Of "Dharma I Salingsingan" (Ninth–Tenth Century Ce), Tyassanti Kusumo Dewanti, Eko Bastiawan, Kezia Permata, Hedwi Prihatmoko
Wacana, Journal of the Humanities of Indonesia
The toponym Salingsingan is observed in several inscriptions spanning the period 791-836 Śaka (869-914 CE), through the reigns of King Lokapāla until King Daksa. Its occurrences are attributed to an area where a religious foundation was established. From these occurrences, we see several interesting topics to explore regarding the sīma institution, religious foundations (dharma), and the toponymy of early Central Java. Our aim is to demonstrate the management of the dharma of Salingsingan and to determine its present-day location by combining epigraphical records and archaeological remains. The research will first try to lay a foundation of what is …

The Scales for Rating the Behavioral Characteristics of Superior Students (SRBCSS; Renzulli et al., 2010) are notable for incorporating teachers’ informed evaluations in identifying gifted students. Teachers’ close interactions with students enable them to make meaningful judgments, and the SRBCSS provides a structured method to guide and strengthen their nominations. The aim of the present study was to gain insight into the psychometric properties of the Greek version of the first four Scales for Rating the Behavioral Characteristics of Superior Students (SRBCSS), which assess various dimensions of giftedness. As a system of irrigation and traditional organization in Bali, Subak has functioned for centuries in collectively managing the equitable distribution of water resources. Its role as a socio-ecological institution is based on local values; it reflects the principles of collectivity and mutual cooperation, which align with the idea of socialism. However, agricultural modernization and the expansion of agrarian capitalism have caused a shift in collective work patterns within the Subak system. Based on this phenomenon, this article aims to examine these changes from a socialist perspective and their implications for the sustainability of the agricultural system in Bali. Using …

Who Would Want To Be Led By You? An Examination Of Leadership Practices At A California Community College, Star Taylor
LMU Theses and Dissertations
Regardless of the type of leadership definition, leaders who are set on leading people and not just an organization make the best well-rounded and effective leaders. Jeffries (1998) insisted leadership is more than a job or a duty; she argued it is a calling. This study interrogates the leadership practices, purpose, style, and origin of the leaders of a California Community College (CCC) in order to ascertain whether they subscribe to the tenets that will enable them to truly serve and not just lead their constituents. There are only two research questions that guide this study: How do ACC administrators …
