Elementary School Teachers’ Perspectives On Project-Based Learning Implementation In Commonwealth Of The Northern Mariana Islands, Xiao Tang
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Elementary schools play an essential role in equipping students with 21st-century skills. Project-based learning (PBL) is a student-centered instructional approach that is associated with the development of these skills, yet PBL implementation in elementary schools is not well understood in Saipan, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). The research problem addressed in this study was a lack of understanding of elementary teachers’ practices in implementing PBL in Saipan. Guided by constructivist theory, the purpose of this qualitative study was to examine elementary school teachers’ perspectives on the benefits of PBL, the ease or difficulty when implementing PBL, the …
The Impact Of Top Management Team Heterogeneity On Corporate Green Innovation, Xueyan Luo
The Impact Of Top Management Team Heterogeneity On Corporate Green Innovation, Xueyan Luo
Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)
At present, green innovation has become a key path for enterprises to achieve sustainable competitive advantage. However, existing research pays limited attention to how internal governance factors—especially top management team (TMT) heterogeneity—affect green innovation. Based on Upper Echelons Theory, managerial cognition theory, and institutional theory, this paper constructs a framework of “TMT heterogeneity–green strategic orientation–green innovation,” and explores the impact of different types of heterogeneity and the moderating role of regional innovation environments. Heterogeneity is categorized into conflict-type (gender, age, financial background) and complementary-type (educational, professional, overseas background) to better explain its mechanisms.

A Study On The Influence Of Entity Internet Hospital Platforms And Health Literacy Facilitation On Postoperative Patients’ Platform Usage, Hong Ye
Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)
Entity Internet Hospital (EIH) is emerging online medical service platforms in China. Currently, while EIHs in China are developing rapidly, their usage rates remain low. However, postoperative patients have substantial follow-up consultation needs. Consequently, incentivizing postoperative patients to use EIH from the demand side is a highly challenging proposition in the current era. Grounded in Technology Acceptance Model and Health Belief Model, this study examined the impacts of platform and health literacy facilitation on platform usage (including intention and frequency) among 631 postoperative patients with cardiovascular disease from four medical institutions in Wuhan, and explored the moderating role of literacy …
Research On The Impact Mechanism Of The Development Level Of Smart Agriculture On Farmers' Income, Baoping Liu
Research On The Impact Mechanism Of The Development Level Of Smart Agriculture On Farmers' Income, Baoping Liu
Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)
Agriculture is a fundamental and strategic industry essential to national food security and farmers’ well-being. Faced with global population growth, climate change, and resource constraints, the traditional high-input agricultural model is unsustainable. Smart agriculture, empowered by IoT, big data, and AI, has become critical for agricultural transformation and sustainable development. However, existing research overemphasizes technical efficiency and neglects how smart agriculture systematically affects farmers’ income, especially its transmission mechanism and regional heterogeneity.
Against China’s rural revitalization and digital village strategy, this study investigates how smart agriculture development influences farmers’ income, using a hybrid framework of macro empirics and micro analysis. …
A Study On The Impact Of Ceos’ Financial And Technical Backgrounds On The Innovation Strategy Of The Enterprise, Jianyu Cheng
A Study On The Impact Of Ceos’ Financial And Technical Backgrounds On The Innovation Strategy Of The Enterprise, Jianyu Cheng
Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)
Amid regional economic integration and market competition, innovation has become a key driver for enterprises to gain competitive advantages and ensure sustainable development. As primary decision-makers in corporate strategy and resource allocation, chief executive officers (CEOs) impact the selection and implementation of innovation strategies through their financial and technical backgrounds, which influence their strategic cognition and risk preferences, leading to heterogeneous innovation behaviors. While existing research has examined the relationship between CEOs and corporate innovation, studies have inadequately explored CEOs’ diverse background characteristics, particularly the interaction between financial and technical backgrounds. Given the rising trend of CFOs and CTOs advancing …
Corporate Strategic Changes In Response To Negative Performance Gaps: The Role Of Listing Board In China, Lei Yu
Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)
This dissertation investigates how Chinese listed companies respond strategically to negative performance gaps under different institutional environments defined by the Main Board and ChiNext Board of China’s capital market. Drawing on Performance Feedback Theory and New Institutional Theory, it explores whether and how listing board heterogeneity moderates the relation between performance shortfalls and corporate strategic transformation, and further examines the boundary effects of internal governance factors including ownership type, CEO power, and resource slack.
Using panel data of A-share listed companies from 2009 to 2019 obtained from the CSMAR database, this study employs multiple regression analysis and interaction modeling to …
The Impact Of Value Co-Creation On Organizational Resilience In Small And Medium-Sized Traditional Foreign Trade Enterprises, Dan Yan
Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)
Against the backdrop of increasing uncertainty in the global business environment, international scholarly attention to individual, group, and organizational resilience has risen significantly. Chinese export trading enterprises—especially small and medium-sized export trading enterprises(SMETEs)—face disadvantages such as small scale, weak financing capacity, limited access to information, and low brand strength. After experiencing shocks from digital transformation, the COVID-19 pandemic, the Russia–Ukraine war, and the European energy crisis, these firms have been compelled to reconsider how to enhance their organizational resilience in order to adapt to an increasingly turbulent external environment.
First, this study selects Company H as a representative case of …
Striking A Balance Between Personal Data Protection And Transactional Efficiency In The Context Of Data-Driven Mergers, Jun Hu
Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)
The proliferation of data-driven mergers and acquisitions (M&A) has created a critical tension between the commercial value of integrated data assets and the fundamental privacy rights of users. This dissertation addresses the underexplored micro-foundations of user consent when personal data is transferred wholesale to an acquiring firm. It develops and empirically tests a sequential mediation model, anchored in Privacy Calculus and Signaling Theory, to explain how users' perceptions and intentions are shaped by different corporate data protection strategies.
A between-subjects experimental design was employed (N=532), exposing participants to one of three distinct protection mechanisms: procedural safeguards (emphasizing fairness and control), …
"Gross Normality" And "Marked Deviation": A Qualitative Study Of Disability Theory In Three Periods Of Sociological Literature, Kelsey Sullivan
"Gross Normality" And "Marked Deviation": A Qualitative Study Of Disability Theory In Three Periods Of Sociological Literature, Kelsey Sullivan
Masters Theses
In the 20th century, three theoretical perspectives concurrently dominated sociological discussions of disability. Functionalism and Talcott Parsons argued for a pathologized framework in the form of a “sick role” occupied by disabled people. Interactionism and Erving Goffman emphasized the stigmas faced by individual disabled people, and the ripple-effects of those stigmas. Finally, disabled activists, inspired by social constructionism, championed the social model of disability. This model purported that disability is a social condition, resulting from systemic barriers imposed upon people who do not fit the mental or physiological norm. This project, through a content analysis of 30 historical journal articles, …

Mental Health Screening For Students With Disabilities: An Intersectional Examination Of Universal Screening Data, James Sinclair, Eunji Kong, Katherine W. Bromley, W. Jamie Yang, Christen Knowles, Susan Stadelman, Geovanna Rodriguez
Curriculum and Instruction Faculty Publications and Presentations
Universal mental health screening is a pivotal aspect of comprehensive school mental health programming. However, even with a recent focus on implementing comprehensive and equitable screening practices, students with disabilities continue to be excluded. This study takes an intersectional approach to gain an understanding on which students with disabilities report elevated mental health concerns and what intersecting identities predict mental health risk. A total of 280 students from three high schools were screened across three timepoints. Results indicate that students with disabilities report elevated levels of mental health concerns. Students who also identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer reported …

A Note On Saint Vincent’S Armchair: Toward Resolving A Mystery?, John E. Rybolt C.M.
Vincentian Studies
An armchair said to have been used by Vincent de Paul may shed some light on his early career. The chair has rods in its arms to support a board between them to serve as a desk. It was donated to the Berceau in 2010 by a family from Buzet-sur-Tarn, accompanied by a note that says that Vincent used this chair during summers from about 1598 until 1604 while he tutored the sons of local nobility and other students in the area. We still don’t know when or why he came there, the level of his instruction, how long he …
Vincent De Paul And The Reform Of The Clergy, John E. Rybolt C.M.
Vincent De Paul And The Reform Of The Clergy, John E. Rybolt C.M.
Vincentian Studies
Vincent de Paul was an important reformer of the French Church, which faced several problems with its clergy. Liturgical practices were not standardized, and some priests lived corrupt lives. Because they received stipends for masses, they often celebrated them for that reason rather than out of piety. They tried to acquire several benefices (church offices) and dioceses at the same time to profit from them all, although this was against canon law, and these were sometimes essentially sold or hoarded by noble families. Church titles and their accompanying incomes were also auctioned off by monasteries, and these, too, were purchased …
The Civic Oath At Saint-Lazare, 1790, John E. Rybolt C.M.
The Civic Oath At Saint-Lazare, 1790, John E. Rybolt C.M.
Vincentian Studies
This study presents the French text, English translation, historical context, and a brief analysis of the speech given at Saint-Lazare on the civic oath-taking in support of the 1790 revolutionary government in France, which every adult citizen had to do publicly. At Saint-Lazare, a group of Vincentians and their neighbors assembled in the motherhouse’s chapel for the oath. This very rare and virtually unknown document is in Richardson Library’s special collections at DePaul University in Chicago. Oath-taking was a way of replacing royal legal authority before assemblies of citizens had been formed. By the time of this oath on 7 …

Three Additional Texts From Felix De Andreis, John E. Rybolt C.M.
Vincentian Studies
Three texts add to our knowledge of the work of Felix De Andreis (1778–1820), the founding superior of the Congregation of the Mission in the United States. These have recently come to light. Two are originals, and the third is a copy. They are given in the original languages and in English, with introduction and commentary. The first is an “Indian grammar” with the Lord’s Prayer and catechism by Felix De Andreis, written circa 1817. According to David J. Costa, a scholar in Native American linguistics, it “provide[s] us with the only source of data that is clearly transitional between …
Louis William Valentine Dubourg: His First Years As Bishop Of Louisiana, John E. Rybolt C.M.
Louis William Valentine Dubourg: His First Years As Bishop Of Louisiana, John E. Rybolt C.M.
Vincentian Studies
Louis William Valentine Dubourg, a priest of the Society of Saint Sulpice, invited the Vincentians to establish a seminary for his diocese of Louisiana. Part of his fundraising efforts to support these and other works was this booklet, The Notice sur l’état actuel de la Mission de la Louisiane (Notice Concerning the Current State of the Mission of Louisiana). Printed in 1820, it circulated widely in Europe and was corrected, updated, and reprinted twice in 1822. Transcriptions given here illuminate differences between the editions. The booklet’s author is anonymous but is probably Charles de la Croix, the bishop’s secretary. The …

“Tag, You’Re It!”: Catalyzing Latino Success Through A Latino-Centered College Access Program In Boston, Ilyitch Nahiely Tábora
Graduate Doctoral Dissertations
This mixed-methods case study examined the impact on Latino students of a Latino-centered college access program, the Talented and Gifted (TAG) Latino Program, based at Boston’s only public university (the University of Massachusetts Boston). Centering on the experiences of predominantly—but not exclusively—Latino alumni, the study triangulated quantitative survey data from 127 participants, qualitative data from 27 “Cafecito" focus groups involving a total of 120 alumni, and content analysis of 27 documents developed collaboratively during Cafecitos. Through this approach, the study amplified alumni voices to define the TAG program’s impact on their academic, social, personal, and professional advancement, illuminating the characteristics …
Transgender Adolescents' Healthcare Rights: The Gap Between Gender-Affirming-Care (Gac) Policymakers’ And Healthcare Providers’ Goals, Jayden Galli
Theses
Transgender people have marginalized healthcare experiences that result in decreased health outcomes. For transgender adolescents, gender-affirming-care (GAC) is even more difficult to access and being restricted with increasing frequency. This mixed methods study was conducted to examine transgender healthcare through the gaps between GAC policymakers’ and healthcare providers’ goals. General research has focused on the relationship between GAC and transgender health, GAC policy development, and the discrepancies between GAC policy outcomes and medical professionals’ advice. This leads to the research question about how policymakers and healthcare providers can collaborate to bridge the gap between GAC policies and transgender minors' healthcare …
Investigating The Role Of Motivation On The Effectiveness Of Computerized Cognitive Training Among At-Risk Youth, Emely N. Lugo
Investigating The Role Of Motivation On The Effectiveness Of Computerized Cognitive Training Among At-Risk Youth, Emely N. Lugo
Electronic Theses, Projects, and Dissertations
Student motivation plays a central role in academic success, influencing persistence, engagement, and performance across grade levels. Within situated expectancy-value theory (SEVT), motivation is shaped by students’ beliefs about their ability to succeed (expectancy), the importance or usefulness they assign to a task (value), the perceived effort or trade-offs involved (cost), and the situational context in which learning occurs. Although the link between motivation and academic performance is well known, there is limited research on how motivational factors, like those proposed by SEVT, influence the extent of cognitive gains from school-based cognitive interventions designed to improve abilities related to academic …
