Honoring The Past And Celebrating The Present: 100 Years Of Research At Rocky Mountain National Park, Ben Baldwin, Bob Bobowski, Scott Esser, Paul Mclaughlin

Rocky Mountain National Park

In 2015, Rocky Mountain National Park (Colorado) celebrated 100 years of protecting high-elevation ecosystems and wilderness character while providing visitors access to inspiring wild places. We took this centennial year as a time of celebration and a time for reflection on the strengths and weaknesses of our resource stewardship program. While the mountains within the park have changed relatively little over the past century, our approach to integrating science into park and wilderness management has changed dramatically. It is only recently that we have had the capacity to embrace adaptive management and work with partners to effectively use science to …

Rocky Mountain National Park: A History, C W. Buccholz

Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park: A History is more than just the story of Rocky Mountain in its brief tenure as a national park. Its scope includes the earliest traces of human activity in the region and outlines the major events of exploration, settlement, and exploitation. Origins of the national park idea are followed into the recent decades of the Park's overwhelming popularity. It is a story of change, of mountains reflecting the tenor of the times. From being a hunting ground to becoming ranchland, from being a region of resorts to becoming a national park, this small segment of the …

Yafo, Ha-TeʻUda Ha-Aduma Street: Late Ottoman Porcelain And Ceramics, Anna De Vincenz

Qadum: Journal of Excavation Reports from Israel

The salvage excavations on Ha-Teʻuda Ha-Aduma street in Yafo yielded a small Late Ottoman ceramic and porcelain vessel assemblage. Porcelain and hard-paste vessels were imported from Europe, whereas glazed earthenware vessels were imported from Europe and Turkey. Among the locally made vessels were Black Gaza Ware and other coarse ware vessels. Many roof tiles, complete and fragmentary, as well as bricks, were imported mainly from Marseille, France. Only a few smoking pipes and narghile were found; these were either locally produced or originated in Turkey.

  • More than a quarter of Americans report a functional disability1
  • ~129 million Americans have at least one major chronic disease2

- Interprofessional teamwork and coordination of care have potential to support the quintuple aim of healthcare3

- Patients with multiple chronic conditions and lower confidence in managing their own health experience more care coordination challenges4

- Patient perspectives are needed to improve healthcare services for chronically ill populations, but limited awareness of team approaches in care presents a methodological challenge to …

Qualitatively Assessing Trade-Offs And Co-Benefits At Local Scales When Considering Carbon Outcomes Among Other Management Goals, Adrienne B. Keller, Ann L. Calhoun, Stephen D. Handler, Maria K. Janowiak, Caitlin E. Littlefield, Brian Miner Feb 2026

Qualitatively Assessing Trade-Offs And Co-Benefits At Local Scales When Considering Carbon Outcomes Among Other Management Goals, Adrienne B. Keller, Ann L. Calhoun, Stephen D. Handler, Maria K. Janowiak, Caitlin E. Littlefield, Brian Miner

Michigan Tech Publications

Natural and working lands are often touted as natural climate solutions due to their ability to take up and store carbon, and land managers are increasingly tasked with considering how management actions impact carbon outcomes alongside other management goals. As a result, there is a need to assess how management actions may drive trade-offs and co-benefits between multiple management goals. However, quantitative analysis of trade-offs is not feasible for many local-scale management projects. We used a case study in an oak savanna in south-eastern Wisconsin, U.S.A. to develop and test a framework for qualitatively analysing local-scale trade-offs. Our framework is …

Alpha Omega Alpha Research Symposium Posters

Introduction: Current efforts to provide language-inclusive radiological care fall short, resulting in suboptimal imaging, increased procedural time, and greater radiation exposure. Inadequate language accessibility results in poor communication, suboptimal care, and increased patient dissatisfaction. A digital language tool was developed to provide patient instructions during interventional radiology (IR) procedures, addressing this gap and enhancing patient care.

Methods: Observations were carried out to better understand workflow during IR procedures and identify how to incorporate the tool. We conducted interviews with IR physicians, nurses, and technologists to gather common procedural phrases and patient instructions. Spanish and Mandarin were selected because they are …

Despite the significant increase in publications on construction project performance (CPP), there is a deficiency of research that rigorously assesses and synthesizes previous studies to delineate the field’s development, themes, and research gaps. This article employs quantitative and qualitative methodologies to critically evaluate studies on CPP published over the last three decades and indexed in the Scopus database. The quantitative approach includes bibliometric searches and scientometric analyses to assess the extent of research interest and achievements. The qualitative methodology aims to conduct thorough content analysis to classify existing material based on prevalent themes. The results demonstrate an exponential growth of …

Boronate Esters For The Binding And Detection Of Low Molecular Weight Volatile Amines, Xiaoning Li, James Boyt, Steven Sloope, Luke T. Lackovic, Mark D. Smith, James J. Lavingne Feb 2026

Boronate Esters For The Binding And Detection Of Low Molecular Weight Volatile Amines, Xiaoning Li, James Boyt, Steven Sloope, Luke T. Lackovic, Mark D. Smith, James J. Lavingne

Faculty Publications

Conjugated thiophene-based diboronate esters, 1–4, were synthesized to investigate how substituents on catechol alter the Lewis acidity and accessibility to boron, and influence binding interactions with low molecular weight Lewis basic amines. Crystallographic analysis indicated that both boron centres bind analyte and that Lewis base coordination induces deplanarization of the conjugated system. Spectroscopic studies demonstrate that amine binding disrupts conjugation, producing distinct and reproducible optical responses that depend on analyte basicity and structure, with association constants in organic solvent ranging from 103 to 106 M−1. Quantitative binding analyses indicate strong negative cooperativity between the two boron …
