Some organizations lack strategies to ensure that project outcomes are aligned with organizational objectives. Business leaders are concerned when project outcomes are misaligned with organizational objectives, as this can lead to decreased profitability and a loss of competitive advantage. Grounded in Porter’s Five Forces model, the purpose of this qualitative, pragmatic inquiry was to explore the strategies business leaders use to ensure project outcomes are profitable and aligned with organizational objectives. The participants were six executive leaders of real estate and development companies in the Caribbean, purposefully selected because their organizations had successfully fulfilled organizational objectives through project outcomes. Data …

Regulation Of Zygotic Genome Activation By The Nucleocytoplasmic Ratio, Lily Acker, Hui Chen Mar 2026

Regulation Of Zygotic Genome Activation By The Nucleocytoplasmic Ratio, Lily Acker, Hui Chen

Faculty Publications

During early development, embryos undergo the maternal-to-zygotic transition (MZT), when control of development shifts from maternal factors to the newly activated zygotic genome. Decades of studies in various model organisms suggest that the nucleocytoplasmic (N/C) ratio is a key regulator of zygotic genome activation (ZGA), though this relationship is more nuanced in some organisms than others. Changing the nuclear content, nucleus size or cell size has been shown to shift the timing of ZGA. Mechanistically, the N/C ratio is linked to fundamental cellular processes that regulate genome activities, including nuclear import, repressor titration, activator accumulation, cell cycle lengthening, and chromatin …

Few Granite Staters Regularly Attend Religious Services, But Many Still Value Religion 3/31/2026, Unh Survey Center

All UNH Survey Center Polls

More than half of adult Granite Staters say they never attend religious services, despite most saying they did attend as children. Catholics represent the largest religious group among New Hampshire adults, followed closely by Protestants, but more than a third say they are agnostic, atheist, or religiously unaffiliated. Despite low church attendance, majorities say they believe in God or a supernatural entity and heaven or some type of afterlife, and just over half believe religion has a positive impact on society. Majorities also believe religion plays a key role in morality and believe the U.S. was founded as a Christian …

Vermonters See No Role For Religion In Public Life, Nearly Half Identify As Non-Religious 3/31/2026, Unh Survey Center

All UNH Survey Center Polls

Two-thirds of Vermont adults say they never attend religious services, despite many regularly attending in their childhood, and nearly half of the population identify as agnostic, atheist, or religiously unaffiliated, while less than one-fifth each identify as Catholic or Protestant. Overall, a majority say that religion is not very or not at all important to their lives. State residents are split on whether religion has a positive or negative effect on society but most feel that religion should play no role in public affairs and that prayer is public schools is inappropriate. Notwithstanding these opinions, about half of Vermonters personally …

Department of Medical Oncology Faculty Papers

BACKGROUND: There is consensus that research participants should be informed about plans for return of genetic research results. However, best practices for return of results in large biobank and cohort studies do not exist currently, and how best to communicate actionable genetic research results remains unclear. While having genetic counselors disclose these results may be ideal to ensure understanding, minimize distress, and optimize medical follow-up, genetic counselor (GC) workforce shortages and costs are barriers. The RESPECT3 study evaluates whether digital delivery alternatives for pre-disclosure education and return of actionable genetic research results is non-inferior to remote telehealth disclosure by a …

Exposing The Work Of The Market Through The Case Of Alternative Provision For English School Students, Nick Pratt, Elizabeth Done, Sam Morahan

School of Law, Humanities and Social Sciences

Pupils in England who for some reason are not able to attend school often find themselves in Alternative Provision (AP). These are special arrangements designed to address their specific needs and help them return to mainstream schooling. AP involves a financial agreement between the provider and the organisation that commissions the provision and thus operates as an explicit form of education market in which educational services are traded directly for financial recompense. We report on a case study of one AP provider in the South-West of England undertaken over a one-year period which generated data through individual, semi-structured interviews and …

Breast Cancer-Derived Extracellular Vesicle Mir-425-5p (Mir-425) Promotes Brain Metastasis Via Activating Astrocytes Through The Novel Mir-425-Znf24-Ccl8 Signaling Axis, Grace L Wong, Munazza S Khan, Sara Manore, Shivani Bindal, Ravi Singh, Hui-Wen Lo

Faculty, Staff and Student Publications

Mechanisms underlying breast cancer brain metastasis (BCBM) are still not well understood. Here, we identified that BCBM patient serum contained extracellular vesicles (EVs) with high levels of microRNAs (miRNAs)-107 and -425. Levels of miR-107 and miR-425 were elevated in brain metastases, and the elevation was associated with poor patient prognoses. Ectopic expression of miR-107 and miR-425 promoted mammospheres; however, the inhibition of miR-425, but not miR-107, suppressed breast cancer mammosphere formation. We further observed that EVs from miR-425-overexpressing breast cancer cells strongly activated astrocytes whereas their inhibitors abrogated the effect. Conditioned media from miR-425-activated astrocytes promoted mammospheres. To elucidate how …

An International Approach To Homelessness. Part Ii. Slums Demolition Or Upgrading?, Pranit Lanjewar, Jaroslaw Richard Romaniuk

Faculty Scholarship

In search of the best approach to eradicating homelessness in underdeveloped countries with large populations, we conducted interviews with professionals involved in different models of helping the unhoused. Although it has been established that the Housing First model combined with human services is the best model to end homelessness, the cost of housing might be prohibitive for many national governments. In situations where governments are over-whelmed by the numbers of homeless people, communities and organizations develop specific methods and practices to meet the needs of unhoused individuals. For the purpose of this paper, phenomenological research was undertaken to learn how …

Green Value Chain Analysis And Its Role In Improving Resource Allocation Decisions: A Case Study In Diwaniya Dairy Factory, Ail Abdul-Hussein Hani Al-Zameli, Nabaa Duaa Fakher

Muthanna Journal of Administrative and Economics Sciences

The purpose of this study is to justify the role of The green value chain as a modern technique of management accounting in facilitating investment decisions and optimizing the effectiveness in resources utilization at industrial units. The premise underlying the study is that green value serves as a frame of reference for analysing activities, which in turn allows to separate value-adding from non-value adding ones, leading to cost reduction and environmental soundness. Management is also not about finding faults for waste and allocating funds, it's all about tapping new ways of creating value by eliminating non-value adding activities. The deductive …

Implementation Of Direct Corpus Applications To L2 Collaborative Writing Pedagogy: The Impact On Learner Interaction, Written Output And Development, Ahmet Egemen Curuk

Electronic Theses and Dissertations Archive

This dissertation examines the implementation of direct corpus applications within L2 collaborative writing pedagogy and investigates their impact on learner interaction, as well as measurable gains in syntactic complexity, lexical complexity, and accuracy during collaborative writing and in subsequent individual writing. Although prior research has established the pedagogical value of corpus-based instruction and collaborative writing separately, little is known about how these approaches function when integrated, particularly with an emphasis on the learner experience and the interactional mechanisms that mediate learning. To address this gap, this dissertation adopts a mixed-methods design to explore how corpus-guided collaborative writing shapes dyadic interaction, …

Voltage Breakdown Strength And Energy Density Of Ceramic Srtio₃ At Cryogenic Temperatures From 295 K To 77 K, Hung Trinh, Alan Devoe, Fatih Dogan

Materials Science and Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works

The low-temperature dependence of the DC dielectric breakdown strength (EBD) and the energy storage density (W) of capacitors, fabricated from high purity polycrystalline strontium titanate, were investigated in the temperature range from 295 K to 77 K. Test samples were constructed with a process similar to that used for multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs). The permittivity, loss tangent, leakage current, and breakdown strength were measured as a function of temperature and voltage. Weibull statistical analysis was used to quantify breakdown distributions. Despite electric-field suppression of permittivity, breakdown strength increased significantly with decreasing temperatures, leading to enhanced energy density. The breakdown field …
