Observational Diagnostics And Spectroscopic Detection Of Tropospheric Trace Gases And Oxidation Processes, Callum E. Flowerday

Theses and Dissertations

The troposphere is governed by photochemical and radical-mediated processes that control atmospheric oxidation capacity, secondary pollutant formation, and the chemical lifetime of gases. Quantitative understanding of these processes requires both robust observational frameworks capable of resolving complex precursor–product relationships and instrumentation with sufficient sensitivity and selectivity to detect reactive and low-concentration species. This dissertation advances atmospheric chemistry through the parallel development of quantitative observational methodologies and refined spectroscopic measurement techniques. The first component of this work evaluates atmospheric oxidation systems using long-term monitoring data and empirical diagnostics. Multi-year analyses of ozone and particulate matter trends were conducted to characterize variability …

Staff Education To Improve Mental Health Access For Underserved Populations Through Telehealth, Kafayat Olabisi Oluwole Mar 2026

Staff Education To Improve Mental Health Access For Underserved Populations Through Telehealth, Kafayat Olabisi Oluwole

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

This staff education doctoral project evaluated whether structured telehealth training improves psychiatric nurses’ knowledge in delivering care to underserved populations. A gap in practice was identified, as many psychiatric nurses lacked formal training in providing culturally competent and effective virtual mental health services. Guided by the ADDIE model and the Johns Hopkins evidence-based practice framework, a structured educational intervention was implemented with 25 psychiatric nurses. Participants completed pre- and posttests to assess knowledge gained. Results demonstrated an increase in mean scores from 62.8% to 77.4%, reflecting a 14.6% improvement. A paired t test indicated statistical significance (p < .05), confirming the effectiveness of the intervention. These findings suggest that targeted telehealth education enhances psychiatric nurses’ readiness to deliver high-quality, culturally responsive care. This project supports positive social change by improving access to equitable mental health services for underserved populations.

Propagation And Interaction Of Gravity Currents Induced By Successive Release Of Two Lock Fluids, Khem Prasad Bhattarai, Subhas Karan Venayagamoorthy Mar 2026

Propagation And Interaction Of Gravity Currents Induced By Successive Release Of Two Lock Fluids, Khem Prasad Bhattarai, Subhas Karan Venayagamoorthy

Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering Faculty Research & Creative Works

This study investigates the dynamics of sequentially released gravity currents in a lock-exchange configuration consisting of two lock fluids using high-resolution numerical simulations and compares them with the classical single-lock exchange. The results demonstrate that, in a two-lock-fluid configuration, the overtaking of the lighter lock current by the heavier lock current alters the current's front dynamics, leading to complex velocity transitions. Before overtaking occurs, the front propagation is slower than in the classical single-lock-fluid case because of lower density contrast, but after overtaking, the heavier lock fluid accumulates at the head region of the current and enhances its speed. The …

Infinite Justice: A Critique Of Capitalism & Capital Punishment, Anthony P. Farley Mar 2026

Infinite Justice: A Critique Of Capitalism & Capital Punishment, Anthony P. Farley

UC Law Journal of Race and Economic Justice

Capitalism began in murder. Bodies were marked by slavery, colonialism, and genocide, white to have, and black to have not. Capitalism, “covered in dirt and dripping with blood,” was born of these three “primitive accumulations.” Slavery is death, and just like colonialism and genocide, it is a capital sentence. The law of capital punishment continues this legacy of murder and racism, as if on “rails to infinity.” This article uses insights from the critique of political economy to examine the death penalty, and the role of law generally, in maintaining racial and other inequalities. Law’s Justice enacts an endless repetition-&-forgetting …

A Tale Of Two Emigrations: Why The Pope Needs Protection From The United States, Laura Snyder Mar 2026

A Tale Of Two Emigrations: Why The Pope Needs Protection From The United States, Laura Snyder

Southern Illinois University Law Journal

From the late 18th until the early 20th century, emigrants to the United States (men) who returned to their country of origin for what was intended to be a brief visit could find themselves forced into military service. At first, the U.S. reaction was sporadic. However, with mounting calls for the country to take systemic action, after the Civil War the United States finally negotiated a series of treaties. Referred to as the “Bancroft Treaties,” they provided that, upon naturalization in one of the treaty countries, an emigrant would lose citizenship of their country of origin and thereby no longer …
