Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a prevalent neurodevelopmental condition associated with impairments across educational, occupational, and social domains. Individuals with ADHD are often exposed to misunderstanding and negative evaluation, which can contribute to stigma and psychological distress. Recently, “masking”—efforts to conceal or compensate for ADHD-related characteristics to meet social expectations—has been discussed as a potential behavioral response to stigma, yet empirical research on this phenomenon remains limited. This study examines how secondary-school teachers in post-conflict Central Maluku, Indonesia, enact cultural education to advance critical cultural literacy and social cohesion. Using a qualitative design, we conducted semi-structured interviews with 25 teachers, classroom observations across six schools, curriculum-document review, and field notes from school and community ceremonies (e.g., pela gandong village alliances; sasi resource-management). Data were analysed through abductive thematic coding informed by critical literacy and teacher-agency frameworks. Findings show teachers mobilise local narratives and practices to: (1) open dialogic spaces for discussing conflict and reconciliation; (2) cultivate critical interpretation of historical and media texts; (3) rebuild intergroup trust …

Using a simple sensory arrival exercise to welcome and orient students to the learning environment encourages a whole being wellbeing approach to learning. Moving through each of the five senses as a way to fully arrive “in class” promotes self-regulation and engagement. In online environments, this exercise gives students an opportunity to settle into a familiar space, as well as to engage with that familiarity in ways that “render the familiar strange,” enhancing curiosity and opening up engagement with the course materials and learning experiences that follow.

This study explored how student leadership practices (SLP) are essential in shaping learners’ development and their continued engagement with higher education institutions. This research investigates the direct and indirect effects of SLP on affective commitment (AC), employing self-efficacy (SE), individualism (IND), and collectivism (COL) as mediating variables. Data were collected through a structured online survey administered to undergraduate students from 11 public universities in Guangxi, China. The study received 436 responses and 387 valid cases. The Student Leadership Practices Inventory, the General Self-Efficacy Scale, the Individualism–Collectivism Scale, and the Affective Commitment Scale were all used as standardized tools. This thesis examines the development and involvement of the SVOD platform Netflix in Romania in the context of a global media corporation engaging with a local market. Romania’s status as a former communist country acts as a good case study highlighting the long-term consequences of diverse content deprivation. This article introduces Identity Restoration Theory (IRT), a new theoretical framework that explains what formerly incarcerated individuals need to reconnect with disrupted cultural identities as a pathway to reintegration. Grounded in qualitative fieldwork with Raizal ex-offenders and community leaders on San Andrés Island, Colombia, IRT is designed to conceptualize reintegration, not as institutional resettlement, but as a culturally rooted process of re-embedding identity within community and place. The framework delineates five interdependent constructs—cultural memory, place reconnection, narrative repair, communal belonging, and agency activation—that emerged inductively from participant narratives. Throughout history, people of color have been misrepresented in different aspects of American life. The representation of people of color (POC) in American history has been discussed and criticized for decades (Chaudri & Schau, 2016; Giarrizzo, 2012). One educational tool that remains at the forefront of the issue is the textbook. American history textbooks influence students' perceptions and attitudes about history. Many students are taught American history with textbooks that include a limited narrative (Chaudri & Schau, 2016). A Call For Reorienting Joy In Educative Spaces, Benjamin Parker, Kathryn E. Parker

In this manuscript, the authors examine the field of education's extended preoccupation with dreadful narratives. A qualitative analysis of educational research proposals is used to illustrate the limited representation of joy in scholarly research around educational spaces. Consideration is given to the roles that educational research and teacher preparation play in perpetuating deficit narratives and possible ways to reframe both the conversations we have around education as well as the field itself. Using Positive Psychology as an exemplar model, this manuscript calls for teacher educators to thoughtfully use joy as a construct in the preparation of future educators.

This article makes a case for culturally relevant pedagogies as one solution to the current cultural gap between teacher and student body in public education. To make this argument, we present our self-reflection and positionality of a research project on culturally relevant pedagogies. These reflections include our backgrounds and reactions to the project. Additionally, we present four of the most meaningful quotes from the study representing the barriers to implementation and the advantages of implementing culturally relevant pedagogy as a teaching framework.

ABSTRACT

Dual language education, also known as Two-Way Immersion (TWI), is a teaching method that puts native English speakers and native speakers of another language in the same classroom. This helps both groups become bilingual and biliterate (Christian, 1996; Lindholm-Leary, 2001). The TWI approach highlights several benefits, including bilingualism and biliteracy, academic achievement, cross-cultural competence, cognitive improvements, and equity and accessibility (Lindholm-Leary, 2001). Research on the TWI model in adults is limited, although it has demonstrated effectiveness in supporting Hispanic teacher candidates, unlike studies conducted in primary education. Principals' perceptions of curriculum and instruction issues are particularly relevant in today's era of testing and accountability. Using a survey instrument given to a representative sample of South Carolina public school middle-level principals, the study explored principals' perception of the type of scheduling configuration needed for social studies instruction. Results of this study suggest that there is no relationship between principals' perception of scheduling configurations used for social studies instruction and the schedule configuration used in their school. Media plays a crucial role in shaping public perceptions of gender and sexuality, yet representations of queer female characters in Philippine cinema remain underexplored. While portrayals of bakla characters have been widely studied, lesbian narratives often remain sidelined or framed through limited, stereotypical lenses. This research examines lesbian characters in the films Baka Bukas (2016) and Si Chedeng at Si Apple (2017), using Herman’s Narrative Framework and Intersectionality Theory. Mukbang, a genre of digital eating broadcasts originating from South Korea, has evolved into a localized phenomenon in the Philippines, reflecting the country’s culinary practices, cultural values, and digital habits. This study examines the characteristics of Filipino mukbang content on YouTube, analyzes the portrayal of eating behaviors, and investigates audience engagement and responses. Employing a qualitative, multi-method research design, the study analyzed the top 15 most-viewed mukbang videos by Filipino creators using a semiotic and deductive content analysis approach. In the face of injustice and oppression, history remembers those who dared to resist. GomBurZa (2023), directed by Pepe Diokno, follows the story of the three martyred priests—Mariano Gomez, Jose Burgos, and Jacinto Zamora—whose execution in 1872 ignited a national awakening during the Spanish colonial rule in the Philippines. This qualitative study explored how the Baby Boomer Generation and Generation Z in Metro Manila received and interpreted the film. This study examined Dolly Parton’s crisis communication across four major crisiscontexts: the 2016 Gatlinburg wildfires, the 2021 Middle Tennessee flooding, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the 2025 Hurricane Helene floods. Using a qualitative multiple case study approach, the research analyzed media coverage, public statements, institutional communications, foundation announcements, and philanthropic records to identify recurring patterns in how ethical leadership and stakeholder responsibility were communicated during these crises. Guided by ethical communication theory, ethics of care, stakeholder theory, Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT), and values-driven reputation management, the study explored how values were enacted through both communication and material action.

To view these illnesses merely as a means to preserve the beauty of the characters is not only inconsistent with the plot but also obscures the cultural—political implications of this obsessive fixation, which clearly exhibits compulsive traits. This study examines how Filipino women evaluate physical attractiveness, likeability, and social competence based on variations in skin color and body build, traits shaped by colonial legacies and reinforced by contemporary media. A 2×2 factorial experimental design was used, involving 180 female college students (ages 18–24), who rated target images that varied by skin color (light vs. dark) and body build (slim vs. large). While neither skin color nor body build alone had a significant main effect on perceptions of attractiveness, a significant interaction emerged: slim, dark-skinned individuals were rated more attractive than their light-skinned counterparts, whereas light-skinned individuals were …
