The Second Amendment Right To Bear Arms, Or Lack Thereof: Assessing The Prohibition Of Unlawful Immigrants From Possessing Firearms, Anna Egensperger
Et Cetera
This Note looks at the hot button issue of whether unlawful immigrants should have the constitutional right to bear arms. Thus far, the Circuit Courts have come to different conclusions which require the input of the United States Supreme Court. Although intertwined with political views, this Note attempts to take a non-partisan stance which prioritizes the application of case law and a consistent reading of the Constitution. To provide the full context of this issue, this Note begins by describing the facts and holding of Columbia v. Heller which creates the first test for establishing a right protected under the …

Faculty Research 2026
We present a collection of 17 high-quality long-read inbred mouse strain genomes with complete annotation (contig N50s of 0.8-33.9 Mbp). This collection includes 12 widely used classical laboratory strains and 5 wild-derived strains. We have resolved previously incomplete genomic regions, including the major histocompatibility complex (MHC), defensin cluster, T cell receptor, and Ly49 complexes. Hundreds of non-reference genes from previous publications not found in GRCm39, such as Defa1, Raet1a, and Klra20 (Ly49T), were localized in the new reference genomes. We conducted a genome-wide scan of variable number tandem repeats (VNTRs) within the coding regions, identifying over 400 genes with VNTR …

Dynamic Soliton Solutions And Stability Analysis Of The (2+1)-Dimensional Wazwaz Kaur Boussinesq Equation Using An Efficient Method, Nivan Mohamed Elsonbaty, Hamdy Mohamed Ahmed, Niveen Mohamed Badra, Wafaa B. Rabie
Basic Science Engineering
This paper presents the first application of the Modified Extended Direct Algebraic (MEDA) method to the (2+1)-dimensional Wazwaz-Kaur-Boussinesq equation, a model governing wave dynamics in shallow waters. The approach successfully uncovers previously unreported classes of exact solutions, including combo dark–singular solitons and Jacobi elliptic function solutions. The spectrum of obtained solutions–which also encompasses bright, dark, and singular solitons, as well as hyperbolic, periodic, exponential, and rational functions–reveals rich and complex soliton dynamics. A comprehensive stability analysis confirms the robustness of these solutions under perturbation. These results significantly advance the understanding of wave propagation in nonlinear systems, providing valuable insights for …
Authentication Of Art, Herbert I. Lazerow
Authentication Of Art, Herbert I. Lazerow
Cleveland State Law Review
The authentication of items permeates our law and our markets. While it is important for many consumer goods, authentication is crucial for artworks and artifacts where the value difference between the authentic and the inauthentic is huge. The question is raised most frequently in conflicts between buyer and seller of art where it is claimed that a warranty was breached, or between the owner of artwork and an authenticator where the claim sounds in tort. It also arises in any situation where the value of the art is important, such as tax or antitrust. Authentication of artwork can be difficult …

Hands Off Mahmoud Khalil: Why The State Department Can't Lawfully Revoke Green Cards, Enforce Immigration Law, Or End Status, Nicolas Garon
Et Cetera
In recent months, the Trump Administration has revived a controversial legal strategy aimed at stretching immigration law to enable aggressive enforcement. Among these efforts is a troubling misconception, exemplified by the case of Mahmoud Khalil, that the U.S. Department of State holds authority to revoke the legal status of individuals inside the country, deport them, or cancel lawful permanent resident (LPR) status. This claim directly contradicts longstanding immigration law, which limits the State Department’s role to visa issuance abroad and grants no domestic enforcement authority. Even visa revocations do not terminate lawful status once an individual is admitted. Despite this …

Stability Analysis Of Fractional-Frequency Offshore Wind Power System Based On Lyapunov Energy Function, Yumeng Jiang, Peiyang He, Ruanming Huang, Wei Xie, Chen Qian, Boyang Zhao, Yongqing Meng
Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology
The fractional-frequency transmission method has become an important solution for large-scale long-distance offshore wind power collection and transmission due to its advantages in transmission losses and construction costs compared with power frequency and direct current transmission methods. However, the stability research of fractional-frequency offshore wind power systems, especially the analysis under the background of typical large disturbances in system operation, is lacking. A high-order nonlinear state space model of the fractional-frequency offshore wind power system is proposed, and the sector-based nonlinear method is used to deal with the high-order nonlinear part of the model; the Lyapunov energy function of the …

Phase Selection Capacity Recovery Strategy For Full-Scale New Energy Grid Based On Coordinated Control And Protection, Lin Zhang, Hongbin Wang, Xun Chen, Xiangning Lin, Zhengtian Li, Fanrong Wei
Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology
The negative-sequence suppression control strategy and low-voltage ride-through control strategy are adopted when the inverter-based power supply fails, which leads to a serious inequality between the distribution coefficients of positive- and negative-sequence currents at the energy storage station side in a full-scale new energy system, resulting in incorrect phase selection of the phase current difference mutation element. Based on the fault sequence component network, the constraint condition for the correct phase selection of the phase current difference mutation element is derived. A phase selection performance recovery scheme based on fault component regulation is proposed, which can eliminate the degradation of …

Grounding Device With Induced Arc Suppression Function Based On Series Resonant Circuit, Yunhao Shu, Zhenghua Su, Shubin Hou, Yuhan Qian, Zhenjia Shen, Zheng Gong
Journal of Electric Power Science and Technology
In a strong electromagnetic induction environment, the outage line in the double-circuit line on the same tower will produce induced voltage and induced current. The arc generated when the ground wire is manually installed will seriously affect the safe operation of the equipment. Therefore, this paper proposes a grounding device with induced arc suppression function, which improves the ordinary grounding device by utilizing a series resonant circuit. Firstly, the calculation formula of induced electricity of the double-circuit line on the same tower is deduced theoretically. The working principle of the series resonant grounding device with arc suppression function is analyzed, …

Improving Ground Cover Crop Fractional Vegetation Mapping Via Causality-Based Deep Representation Learning, Atif Latif, Masoumeh Hashemi, Matt Yost, Somayeh Esmaeili, Xiaojun Qi
Computer Science Student Research
Semantic segmentation and deep learning methods have rarely been applied to fractional vegetation cover (FVC) segmentation tasks due to the lack of publicly available datasets for training deep learning models. FVC is a key indicator for assessing vegetation distribution, crop density, and crop responses to water availability and fertilizer application, yet conventional field-based measurement methods are time consuming, costly, labor intensive, and may lack the accuracy required for critical applications such as drought stress evaluation and water productivity. In this paper, we introduced causality-based deep learning techniques for FVC segmentation on a publicly available RGB dataset that consists of four …

North Dakota Emergency Medical Personnel’S Perceptions Of Human Trafficking, Jessica Evans
North Dakota Emergency Medical Personnel’S Perceptions Of Human Trafficking, Jessica Evans
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Human trafficking is an abhorrent human rights violation, and victims experience a myriad of health disturbances while being exploited. Victims often seek emergency medical care, but research consistently shows that emergency medical personnel (EMP) are largely unprepared to screen, identify, and respond to them. However, there has been no research exploring their preparedness to screen, identify, and respond to victims of human trafficking, the barriers and challenges to identification of human trafficking victims, and training needs to improve screening, identification, and response to human trafficking victims in North Dakota. This study employed a generic qualitative approach grounded in constructivism. The …
Determinants Of Clinical Supervisor Self-Efficacy In Substance Use Disorder Counseling, Victoria A. Nagel
Determinants Of Clinical Supervisor Self-Efficacy In Substance Use Disorder Counseling, Victoria A. Nagel
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Substance use disorder counselors face increasing challenges in responding to a growing and more severely affected population, often presenting with co-occurring mental health conditions and complex clinical needs. Clinical supervision plays a critical role in supporting counselor development, yet little is known about the factors that contribute to clinical supervisors’ self-efficacy in providing supervision for alcohol and drug counselors. The purpose of this quantitative correlational study was to examine whether years of counseling experience, years of substance use disorder (SUD) counseling experience, years as a clinical supervisor, professional counseling credentials, and supervisory credentials predicted self-efficacy among clinical supervisors. This study …

Rewriting Betrayal: The Political Memory Of Andrei Vlasov And His Russian Liberation Army, Christian N. Adams
Rewriting Betrayal: The Political Memory Of Andrei Vlasov And His Russian Liberation Army, Christian N. Adams
Departmental Honors & Graduate Capstone Projects
This study examines the evolving historiography of Andrei Vlasov and the Russian Liberation Army (ROA) from the end of World War II to the post-Soviet era. Drawing on Soviet, émigré, and Western sources, it traces how interpretations of Vlasov’s defection reflected shifting moral and political frameworks in Russia’s collective memory. The analysis demonstrates that portrayals of Vlasov, from Stalinist condemnations to post-Soviet reappraisals, mirror the state’s changing relationship to patriotism, legitimacy, and dissent. By comparing Cold War scholarship with contemporary Russian debates, this paper argues that the Vlasov question endures not because of mere intrigue, but because it embodies the …

Phase 1
Introduction/Purpose: Chronic pain is common in OI patients, but standardized pain assessment and treatment is lacking. Pamidronate, a bisphosphonate traditionally administered to OI patients to increase bone mineral density, could play a role in pain management. This study will describe baseline pain before receiving pamidronate to contribute to the characterization of pain in OI and justify the need for evaluating the impact of pamidronate on pain over time.
Methods: 54 patients with mild to severe OI were selected from the Nemours Skeletal Dysplasia Program (mean age 10.5±6.6 years [range 2-31 years]; 54% male, 46% female). Pain was assessed using the …

Effect Of Als-Associated Ubiquilin-2 Mutation On Autophagy In Ipsc-Derived Neurons, Marina Pilger, Dorothy Benton, Juliet Goldsmith
Phase 1
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a degenerative neuromuscular disease that progresses to respiratory paralysis and death. Defective protein homeostasis is a major driver of disease pathogenesis, and autophagy, a cellular recycling and degradation system, is often disrupted in disease. UBQLN2 mutation is linked to a small percentage of familial ALS. Despite UBQLN2’s known role in protein homeostasis, the effect of its ALS-associated mutation on neuronal autophagy remains unclear. This study used iPSC-derived excitatory cortical-like (iCN) and lower motor (iLMN) neurons to quantify the effects of the familial UBQLN2 mutation (P506T) on autophagic flux. Live cell imaging and ImageJ were used …

Noninvasive Patient-Level Detection Of Nafld Using Mri Radiomics And Machine Learning, Vladimir Kirichenko, Rajanikanth Vadigepalli
Phase 1
Introduction— Current noninvasive assessment of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) relies primarily on MRI-based fat quantification, such as proton density fat fraction (PDFF). This study explored the use of an MRI radiomics–based machine learning approach for accurate patient-level classification of NAFLD.
Methods— Liver MRI images from patients with suspected NAFLfD were retrospectively analyzed. Radiomics features were extracted using PyRadiomics from full-liver masks across 4–6 axial slices per patient. Slice-level features were aggregated to the patient level using summary statistics (mean, median, and standard deviation). To reduce redundancy and multicollinearity, features were pruned using Pearson correlation analysis with a threshold of …

Designing A Multilingual Instructional Language Tool For Patient Communication In Interventional Radiology, Ahlam Houssein, Samuel Almodóvar, Gregg Khodorov, Md, Mba, Sahib Sohal, Md, Robert Pugliese, Pharmd, David Dwyer, Md
Phase 1
Introduction: Language barriers in healthcare contribute to medical errors, reduced patient adherence, and increased procedural risk among patients with limited English proficiency (LEP), particularly in interventional radiology (IR), where real-time verbal instruction is essential for procedural success. Current virtual translation services lack the immediacy, specificity, and workflow integration required for intraprocedural communication. This project asks how a digital platform can enable IR professionals to communicate procedural instructions to LEP patients accurately and efficiently in real time, hypothesizing that a structured, phrase-based translation system will improve procedural efficiency and safety.
Methods: On-site interviews and workflow observations were conducted with IR physicians, …
