Machine Learning Crime Prediction Models And The Gap Between Research And Implementation: A Systematic Review, Ricardo Huamantingo, Miguel Cano-Lengua, Ciro Rodriguez
Karbala International Journal of Modern Science
A crime is an illegal or violent act committed by one individual against another. The increasing crime rate has become a major concern as it negatively affects people's quality of life and generates significant social and economic costs. This study aims to identify the most widely used machine learning (ML) models for crime prediction, determine evaluation metrics for assessing model performance, and analyze key data characteristics to enhance real-world implementation. The study follows the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) methodology. A search string was formulated using the population, intervention, comparison, and outcomes (PICO) framework and applied …

Monitoring The Degradation Of Methylammonium Lead Iodide Perovskite Thin Films By Uv Exposure, Addison Dau, Ethan Dale, James Heyman
Macalester Journal of Physics and Astronomy
This project involved lead-halide perovskite thin films, a promising novel solar cell material. The goal was to monitor the composition of the samples during degradation from blue light exposure using vibrational spectroscopy. IR and THz spectroscopy measured the composition of the samples in-situ between periods of blue light exposure, probing the N-H and Pb-I vibrational modes. Plotting MA and MAPI concentrations versus blue light exposure showed that the MA and MAPI concentrations initially decreased in a gradual linear fashion until a threshold photon flux where both vibrational absorption bands simultaneously collapsed. This suggests that there is a discontinuous change in …

The Bond Of Peace: Restoring Souls In Worship Amid Culture War And Moral Suffering, Steve Yeagley
The Bond Of Peace: Restoring Souls In Worship Amid Culture War And Moral Suffering, Steve Yeagley
Andrews University Seminary Studies (AUSS)
Jeremiah’s critique of war as false worship challenges popular Christianity’s support of American war culture. While primarily expressed as American militarism, war culture also manifests in the rhetoric of culture wars. Adding to the division and violence that the nation’s culture wars can fuel is their potential to inflict moral suffering. Emerging discourses of moral distress and injury suggest that, like wartime environments, culture wars may exact a spiritual toll. Unlike the militant liturgies of war culture, Christian worship can address this moral suffering. When acknowledged in worship through witness and lamentation, moral distress and injury offer a prophetic critique, …
The Clarity And Obscurity Of Inspired Writings: A Historical Survey From Late Antiquity To Early Nineteenth- Century America, Denis Kaiser
The Clarity And Obscurity Of Inspired Writings: A Historical Survey From Late Antiquity To Early Nineteenth- Century America, Denis Kaiser
Andrews University Seminary Studies (AUSS)
Throughout Christian history, pastors, scholars, and church leaders have discussed whether, or to what extent, Scripture is clear or obscure. This article surveys the views on the clarity and obscurity of Scripture as advocated by Christian writers in five eras from late antiquity to early nineteenth-century America. Writers in the Protestant tradition have generally objected to the common notions among Roman Catholics that Scripture is obscure, consists of a four-fold sense, and that normative teaching authority is in the hands of the magisterium. Lutheran, Reformed, and Pietist scholars have generally emphasized the importance of having an educated clergy that understands …
Tantalizing Fragments Of A Larger Linguistic Tapestry: Exploring Nala Lambë, Mago/Magol, And The Dunlendish Languages In Tolkien's World-Building, Andrew Higgins
Journal of Tolkien Research
In this paper I pluck three leaves from my current research on Tolkien’s Tree of Middle-earth language invention - – Nala Lambë, Mago/Magol, and Dunlendish (also known as the Dunland Tongue). These lesser-known languages, despite their incomplete nature or "orphaned" status, underscore Tolkien's unwavering commitment to linguistic realism and the integral role of language in his sub-creation and world-building. They exist as both individual enigmatic leafs as well part of much larger tree of Tolkien’s linguistic world-building.

The State And Erosion Of The Civic Space In Nigeria’S Democracy, 1999–2023, Al Chukwuma Okoli, Elias Chukwuemeka Ngwu, Francisca Nkemdilim Onah
Khazar Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences
Nigeria’s experience with democratic rule since 1999 has been somewhat contradictory. Rather than a widening of the civic space for robust citizen participation, there have been sustained attempts by the state to suffocate the civic space by stifling differing viewpoints. The government has led the process by securitizing the civic space, criminalizing civil dissent, and politicizing civil society platforms. Although there appears to have been a global trend towards the shrinking of the civic space, the situation in Nigeria has been typically enervating for fostering the democratic culture. Sequel to this, this paper examined the state of the civic space …

Ldt Fda Ruling: A Conundrum For Laboratories Across The Usa, Charma Henry
MSMLS Capstone Projects
Abstract
In the article “The Future of Laboratory Medicine Understanding the New Pressures," author Mauro Panteghini expresses that the clinical laboratory has always undergone significant changes due to technological advances and external economic pressures. “Laboratories are indeed an easy target for economic restrictions and limitations due to their technological characteristics.” (Panteghini, 2004, pg. 205) Though these words were written over 20 years ago, no more valid words have been spoken in light of the newest pressure all laboratories face with the new LDT regulation set by the FDA.
This regulation places drastic economic pressure on laboratories to pay the FDA …
Habsburg Ruthenian/Rusyn Identities Part Ii: Where Are The Michigan Ruthenians?, Robert Goodrich
Habsburg Ruthenian/Rusyn Identities Part Ii: Where Are The Michigan Ruthenians?, Robert Goodrich
Upper Country: A Journal of the Lake Superior Region
Ruthenians overwhelmingly came to Michigan between 1900 and 1914 as citizens of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, where their ethnic (national) status was officially recognized and protected (at least formally). Their distinct identity was built around their Rusyn language, Ruthenian Rite Catholicism, connection to a cultural territorial homeland along the Carpathians (Ruthenia), and an overwhelmingly peasant-based village life generally led by sacerdotal families. However, the lack of a single administrative focus within the Monarchy’s multi-ethnicity meant that Ruthenians always showed a high degree of regional variation. With the collapse of the Monarchy in 1918, the polyvalent centrifugal tendencies rapidly accelerated so that …
