When It Comes To Scientific Information Extraction And Llms, Less Is More, Sameer Shaik Nov 2025

When It Comes To Scientific Information Extraction And Llms, Less Is More, Sameer Shaik

Theses and Dissertations from DePaul University

The scientific literature continues to expand rapidly, making manual extraction of structured scientific facts increasingly impractical. Traditional Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP) pipelines require large expert-annotated datasets, which are costly to produce. Novel Large Language Models (LLMs) face challenges in long-context scientific reasoning, hallucinations, and entity linking. This thesis investigates ELSIE-Blob, a domain-aware preprocessing method that segments scientific articles into compact text “blobs” containing components of entity relations (here, polymer names, melting point indicators, and numerical values). We test whether blob-based input allows lightweight, consumer-hardware-accessible LLMs to extract polymer–melting point (polymer–Tm) pairs accurately without training data. Experiments using …

Cultural Humility In Patient Education: Development Of A Nutrition-Related Simulation For Nursing Students, Theresa G. Schnable, Sylvia Peña, Juanita T. Garcia, Marilyn Frenn Nov 2025

Cultural Humility In Patient Education: Development Of A Nutrition-Related Simulation For Nursing Students, Theresa G. Schnable, Sylvia Peña, Juanita T. Garcia, Marilyn Frenn

College of Nursing Faculty Research and Publications

Introduction:

The Latinx community is disproportionately impacted by social and structural inequities such as food insecurity and culturally and linguistically appropriate resources. To address a gap in culturally appropriate nutrition education with Latinx individuals among baccalaureate nursing students, a simulation learning experience (SLE) was developed.

Methodology:

The SLE was designed using best practice standards by faculty experts and reviewed by consultants. After the SLE, students and faculty provided feedback regarding simulation design and implementation.

Results:

Participants reported improved knowledge and confidence when providing culturally appropriate nutrition education and valued working with an interpreter.

Discussion:

This innovative strategy using simulation offers …

The Anchor: November 2025, Hope College

The Anchor: 2025

The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

The Battle Over Water Fluoridation Comes To New York City: Organized Dentistry Is Quick To Respond To Ill-Conceived Effort To End 60-Year Practice And Vows To Stay With It Until The Threat Passes., Lance Plunkett Jd, Llm Nov 2025

The Battle Over Water Fluoridation Comes To New York City: Organized Dentistry Is Quick To Respond To Ill-Conceived Effort To End 60-Year Practice And Vows To Stay With It Until The Threat Passes., Lance Plunkett Jd, Llm

The New York State Dental Journal

Water fluoridation has been experiencing its woes lately, beset by an adverse court decision, questionable science, collapsing federal public health priorities and public suspicion often fueled by hysteria. Against all this, New York City stood strong as a pioneering large municipality safely fluoridating its water since 1965 for the benefit of the public and reducing dental caries significantly over decades.

Short Note Of Supertree-Width And N-Superhypertree-Width, Takaaki Fujita

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

This paper investigates the properties of tree-width and related graph width parameters for n SuperHyperGraphs, a broader generalization of hypergraphs. By exploring concepts such as SuperHyperTree width and Hypertree-width, we aim to understand how these structures resemble tree-like formations. We also analyze the relevance of these width parameters in computational contexts, following extensive research in graph theory and hypergraph applications

An Overview Of Neutrosophic Graphs, Nihar Ranjan Panda, Prasanta Kumar Raut, Amarendra Baral, Srikanta Kumar Sahoo, Sakya Singh Satapathy, Said Broumi

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

A new area of study called "neutrosophic graph theory" uses neutrosophic logic to expand on traditional graph theory to include ambiguous, indeterminate, and uncertain information. This paper gives a thorough introduction to neutrosophic graphs, including their definition, components, uses, and difficulties. Neutrosophic graphs let you show and analyze relationships that aren't clear-cut because they give vertices and edges different levels of truth, indeterminacy, and falsity. Image processing, social network analysis, pattern recognition, and decision-making in the face of uncertainty all use neutrosophic graphs. However, we still need to resolve issues like interpretability and computational complexity. All things considered, neutrosophic graphs …
