Modeling Social Evolution, Involution, And Indeterminacy: A Neutrosophic-Cultural Algorithm Approach, Antonios Paraskevas, Florentin Smarandache

Neutrosophic Sets and Systems

Neutrosophic Sociology, or Neutrosociology, is the study of sociology using neutrosophic scientific methods for understanding the dynamics of social systems within complex environments. When a social change occurs, the society evolves with respect to some parameters, regresses with respect to others, and remains the same or experiences an unclear change (indeterminacy) with respect to another set of parameters. This mirrors neutrosophic logic: true (), neutral or indeterminate (ℐ), and false (ℱ). The main concept of cultural algorithms is a generalization of the idea that evolution has at its base both racial learning within species and social learning within human societies. …

Beyond Turnout: What Gen Z’S Social Media Reactions Reveal About The 2025 Elections In The New Jersey’S Gubernatorial And Nyc’S Mayoral Elections, Yi Lou, Jin-A Choi, Bond Benton

College of Communication and Media Scholarship and Creative Works

The recent 2025 New Jersey Gubernatorial and NYC mayoral races captured national attention as this race could potentially project the mood for the upcoming 2026 midterm election to flip the conservative leaning during the 2024 Presidential election. Particularly, Democrats lost a significant number of votes from the younger demographic groups such as Gen Z, a 10-point decline compared to the 2020 Presidential election (Hartig et al., 2025). Gen Z constitutes about one-fifth of the American voting population (CIRCLE, 2025) and voted at record-high rates in the last two presidential elections. Engaging and mobilizing Gen Z seems pivotal for election candidates. …

The Nuances Of Prosecutorial Nonenforcement, Meighan R. Parsh, Carissa Byrne Hessick Nov 2025

The Nuances Of Prosecutorial Nonenforcement, Meighan R. Parsh, Carissa Byrne Hessick

William & Mary Law Review

The academic literature on prosecutors is divided: Some commentors believe that prosecutors should more aggressively use their ability to decline to bring charges, decreasing the overall number of criminal cases and helping to address the problem of mass incarceration. Others believe that broad prosecutorial nonenforcement poses significant risks to our constitutional order and public safety. While the visibility of this debate has increased—spilling over from the pages of law reviews into political campaigns and headlines—the terms of this debate are at times unclear. Prosecutorial nonenforcement is a multifaceted phenomenon, and discussions about its costs and benefits can obscure necessary tradeoffs …

Speech Pathology and Audiology Faculty Research and Publications

Delayed echolalia, or the repetition of previously heard speech, is often observed in the expressive language of autistic children. Relatively little is known about how the production of delayed echolalia fits within the overall picture of autistic children’s language ability, including receptive language. To date, no empirical studies have tested autistic children’s comprehension of individual words within their delayed echoes. The present study aimed to establish proof-of-concept for a novel method of examining children’s comprehension of individual words that they produce in their own delayed echoes. Using natural language sampling combined with parent report, we identified instances of delayed echolalia …

The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly: A Comparative Constitutional Analysis Of Whistleblowing Speech, The Government's Managerial Domain, And The Imperatives Of Democratic Self-Government, Ronald J. Krotoszynski Jr.

Articles

Since issuing its 1968 landmark decision in Pickering, which first recognized that the First Amendment protects government employees' speech about matters of public concern, the US. Supreme Court has proceeded to whittle away First Amendment protections for government employees. The Justices have done so by adopting a series of categorical exclusions to Pickering that all strongly favor the government as an employer and manager. These subsequent decisions have created a jurisprudential obstacle course that government employees must successfully run in order to invoke the Free Speech Clause at all. The current U.S. approach is plainly bad. However, it could be …

Vestibular Migraine And Ssri Withdrawal: A Case Report, Grace Fairchild, Sarah Redding, Ashley G. Flagge

Ashley Flagge Publications

Vestibular migraine (VM) has been described as a diagnosis of exclusion, with no one singular definitive assessment for diagnosis. It has been suggested that possible pharmaceutical intervention for VM can include antidepressant drugs, but this is potentially complicated by the fact that dizziness is a common side effect of both use and withdrawal for certain types of antidepressant medications. This article describes the case of a 56-year old with probable VM, who was previously diagnosed with depression and treated with the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) Citalopram. Following discontinuation with no taper, the patient experienced a series of withdrawal side …

We Are Here Because Of Them: Co-Creating A Native Cemetery Memorial At Mission Santa Clara, Lee M. Panich, Amy J. Lueck, Lauren Baines, Isabella ‘Amne Gomez

Faculty Publications

Tens of thousands of Native individuals perished in California’s twenty-one Franciscan missions that operated from the 1760s into the 1840s, but most public interpretive programs gloss over their lives and the cemeteries where they are interred. This has historically been the case at Mission Santa Clara, on the campus of Santa Clara University. In this article, we reflect on the process of co-creating an interactive memorial designed to honor the Native people buried in two colonial-era cemeteries related to the mission and link their lives to the descendant community today. Importantly, the co-creation process helped strengthen relationships in numerous directions, …

Computer Science Faculty Publications

Swarm robotics leverages groups of autonomous robots to perform complex tasks collaboratively. Recently, there has been growing interest in the Self-Supervised Learning framework (SSL) for social robots, yet very little research has been done on designing a SSL framework for foraging swarm robots systems. In this paper, to address the two challenges above, we proposed a novel efficient self-supervised learning framework. Specifically, we proposed 1) a shared weight multi-instance based encoder-decoder structure for model pre-training; and 2) an embedding series compression strategy to reduce the space cost in inference stage. Experiments show our system can match the performance of standard …
